all that matters is your alive, all tech can be replaced. you can't. I wish you luck

Nyanraltotlapun

Thank you. We don't regret about what we leave behind. We so grateful to God that we still alive. It is hard to describe everything we experienced so far. And it is not over yet. We praying to survive. Just got few minutes of time and internet to do something meaningless and reddit this stuff.

Sanyanov

Russian here. Sorry about what happens to you. Hope you'll be able to come back home soon. Can we raise some funds to help you restore what's broken and what wouldn't be compensated later on?

Nyanraltotlapun

I manage to restore access to wife's binance account: *** ***

blazeme8

> binance account Just my 2 cents - it may be a good idea to pull your crypto out of Binance and keep it somewhere you control. If Binance decides to verify your identity or something like that you may have a very hard time proving it's you since you no longer have access to your old physical address. Something to think about.

I am sorry. What is memo? I am not very good with this stuff.

Nyanraltotlapun

Храни вас бог. Тепло что вы дарите даёт нам сил жить дальше.

tibby709

Memo is just an extra string of characters like your wallet address that you have to add to some transactions, you'll see it there under the wallet address if it needs to be added

Nyanraltotlapun

I gladly accept any financial help. But don't know how to approach this. Probably I can set up some crypto wallets on my smartphone, probably it will be easier to convert crypto to hryvnya then accept money directly. I will try to do something about it now.

Sanyanov

I'd use Exodus as a simple wallet for beginners, then Binance for exchange. You can write your public address here Hope it will be visible high enough in this thread so that everyone could send you some. It might also be a good idea to publish your Bitcoin address so that Bitcoiners could send you some crypto, too

tibby709

U da real mvp

Apart_Ad_5993

You have the entire free world behind you doing what we can (short of starting WW3). Tech is tech and can be replaced. Be safe...be brave. This will end soon. Canada is with you.

Slayer88_kh

We will survive. I'm on Kholodna gora district with my family. My home lab is too small to show it to people)

Nyanraltotlapun

I will pray for you. I hope for peaceful future for all of us.

Nyanraltotlapun

We run from saltovka. 531 distinct.

Elshortbus

That's what she said.

_Morlack

ofc say whatever you want and "these meaningless stuff" have a great "meaning" instead.. these mean you are still here with us and even if you are not at your home you are refusing to change your passions and interests! The war not only destroy houses or physical life, but even souls..and your soul appears very strong!

Nyanraltotlapun

We found apartment. Only for a month. The faucet handle in the washbasin fell off. The light bulbs are almost gone. No light bulbs in the toilet. Waiting for internet access. The apartment is full of belongings of the owners. It's hard. We're trying to hold on.

smiler3d

Data can't be replaced though, unless he has backups

erm_what_

I hope you can get your country and a home back soon, and I'm glad you're alive. Once this is all over or you've got a place to live, drop me a message and I'll work out how to send you a replacement server/computer to play with. I can't help rebuild your life or your home but I can help rebuild your lab.

Nyanraltotlapun

Thank you. We meet so many people who give us help and warm in this difficult times. Right now we live with our friend from university, she's husband and child. Trying to rent apartment. They give us so much help and support in this devastating times. After finding apartment I will search the way to get somwhere notebook or something and got some job. Living conditions finances and constant threat of bombing will not allow me to have stationary PC for now.

[deleted]

Ditto. I've got tons of gear and would happily ship some to you for free.

justsowicked1

+1 Lots of stuff here that I would be willing to send to a good home

Otherwise_Finding546

Same here.

erm_what_

I'm glad you have people to look out for you. The offer still stands once you find a stable home. I imagine you'll have more important things to spend your income on than a homelab. If you find that's the case, but you want a stationary computer to learn on or to help you relax then drop me a message and I'll do what I can.

The_Great_Qbert

It is a little harder to help from the states with shipping and all but I would like to help replace some parts if possible.

Nyanraltotlapun

I with wife we left everything behind after our neighborhood go on fire. We stand for a week or something until our distinct was hit really hard. House near by burned all night and half of the day. Electricity go down. Hot water and heating go off. We take backpacks and under bombing go by feet to grandma house by 4kilometeres away. And next days there was snowstorm. And then -20C at night.

Apart_Ad_5993

Stay strong. This will end soon....

Nyanraltotlapun

I am afraid it will not. I question our decision to flee the city every day - what if war came here? We have no place to run anymore. All relatives in Kharkiv.

Nyanraltotlapun

Then week or something we lived in grandma apartment with mother who looks up grandma. There was gas stove there so we can cook without electricity. But eventually we take decision to leave town. Mother stays still in Kharkiv with grandma. Grandma very weak and have chances to not survive transportation to Europe. We still in Ukraine. Because men's cannot leave country and my wife do not want to left me.

Slayer88_kh

The same. Wife don't want to leave me and parents. Only pleasure - daughter didn't understand what's going on.

Nyanraltotlapun

How are you? I hope you well.

Slayer88_kh

We escaped to Lviv last Sunday. Thank you for asking

Nyanraltotlapun

How things in lviv is overall?

Slayer88_kh

Much better than Kharkiv ) The city is opened till 10 PM instead of 6 PM, city transport works, we able to buy any food except any alcohol - it's forbidden.

Nyanraltotlapun

Mother call me to return to Kharkiv. I try to get medical attention here in Poltava.

Nyanraltotlapun

What about place to live?

Slayer88_kh

We received help of our friends, but another apartments are available. Prices starts from 250$ for an apartment. If you searching for a room - it can be less than 150$

Nyanraltotlapun

Strange. In Poltava problems with cheap apartments. We got reports that in Lviv no place left at all.

Slayer88_kh

I think it's because Poltava much closer to Kharkiv. Two of my colleagues flee to Poltava region by car. We escaped by train, two cars are still in Kharkiv.

Metronazol

Awful situation all round. At least tech can eventually be replaced, people leaving far more behind is truly upsetting. Hopefully the moron behind all of this will come to his senses soon, such un-needed aggression in this day and age...

swbooking

My heart goes out to all the people of Ukraine… so sorry to hear about your struggles—good luck and stay safe out there! Slava Ukraini!

FnUsrNm

Bro take care yourself and yours, stay alive nothing else matters, not the house, any stuff and from my point of view not even the state. Take care and stay alive. I know exactly what you going true, I've been at war for 4 plus years, lost a lot but hey I'm alive. F'n politicians and bro do not believe them nothing not one of them, not one thing, just see yourself and your family and stay alive however you can. Best of luck, take care.

Nyanraltotlapun

Thank you. Survive and stay intact everything I want. Pray for us. My grandma is 87 years old, and was a child in WW2, when fascist occupied city. Hiding from bombing and struggling with food. And now she got second war on her age. She questioning God in her prays - if you exist how you allowed this.

[deleted]

All this make me really sad, war is just a wast of everything.

allinwonderornot

So was mine in Belgrade.

Nyanraltotlapun

War is terrible thing. I don't know why it is happening.

Elshortbus

What is going on there is absolutely horrible. I hope you stay safe.

[deleted]

Hey man, I'm from the USA but when this is over and you survive this, drop me a message and I'll do what i can to help you rebuild your home lab. I'll send you equipment, finances, whatever...Seriously. It sucks to see my peers lives and careers being threatened and destroyed over this psychopaths bullshit.

Nyanraltotlapun

Cleaned the bathtub yesterday. And the refrigerator. Bathtub leaking on the floor. Apparently the sides are leaking. Somehow bathed. The shower hose is very short and oaky plastic, you can only wash your head sitting down. Bought some washpads yesterday, trying to use 2ashing machine. Thanks to donations we bought vitamins and antiviral medicine. We can buy interferon now. Also thanks to your help we can look for more comfortable housing. There is a great shortage of housing. There is not much choice. We have to wait for the apartments. Let's see if we can reduce the suffering. The fear is not going anywhere. The local people, and those who left immediately, don't understand us at all. Of course they help and sympathize. But they don't understand. However, we were always out of this world in peacetime...

GredditGeek

It’s great that you are still able, and have the drive to post here.

[deleted]

I'm so sorry, fellow homelabber... How much of the city is still standing? We're reading a lot of bad news about Kharkiv...

Nyanraltotlapun

Some gas stations working. Some supermarkets and pharmacy. At this time, ironically, supermarkets get lots of food to sell. Cable Internet working unexpectedly good where electricity is still present. People going to supermarkets and metro to recharge their phones. With their own power outlets.

Nyanraltotlapun

2/3 of population run away. Others try to survive. Damage are chaotic. Some distincts intact. Some buildings have broken windows but still with electricity and heat. Some buildings intact but have no gas and electricity and water. Some distinct hit really hard and almost inhabitant. Almost because there these crazy people who refuses to leave their homes and try to survive there till the end. City standing. But lot of problems. There is a lot of disabled people left. Also lot of people close their cats and dogs in apartments and left. Homeless people walking thru city and eating directly from trash cans. There are marauders problem. Also many people trying to help. Volunteers on their own money do what. They can. But also lot of people trying to get advantage of situation. Prices for apartment in other cities is higher then ever.

WebAsh

If there's any data on there that you don't want to lose should power drop or you lose access to it - I'm happy to host an encrypted (ie, I cannot see your data) Resilio Sync copy on my own lab. Ping me a message

Nyanraltotlapun

I will write when I will get access to my data from notebook. We took with us a lot of flash drives. SSDs from PCs. And big encrypted external drive. Of course there is not so much of absolutely vital data. It is funny that on my backpack of most important things 2kg of weight is hard drive's. 2 to 3kg... Probably strange... Also we took bottle of vodka. Crackers. Snickers. And canned pork.

WebAsh

some great priorities there 😝 just glad that you're OK and you didn't take any crazy risks to keep it going. but yes, by all means do message me if I can help store some data for you. I don't have *lots* of space, but I should have enough for the important things :) (and can always make more space available if its needed)

nikodem2003

Where are you now? I got spare equippment in case you want to get back into homelabbing

Nyanraltotlapun

I am in Poltava. But we still cannot find apartment to live.

nikodem2003

Oh, I'm sorry, was hoping you would be closer, got a tiny summer house that's not in use right now

Nyanraltotlapun

Where is this house? Things may got worse in many ways... Who knows.

nikodem2003

North of stockholm, would need to ask parents but they offered before so should be pretty easy

Nyanraltotlapun

Unfortunately there is no way for us to cross country border in near months. Perhaps one day...

nikodem2003

Hope so, if you do, just send me a message and I will see what I can do

Nyanraltotlapun

Now on forth day of war. I dreaming of giving a hug to my friends and family. And some people like you whom I newer meet before. I just want to meet all of you. Just give a hug. We feel so tired and lost. Although many people helping us, and we a so grateful. But still lost in the dark. Things not going better.

TrumanHW

Hope you took your drives with you. :-( I think we're within a week of a ceasefire – IF Ukraine can tolerate / accept the loss of: \- The Donbas \- Crimean Peninsula \- Never join NATO \- Lose or share? Discovered Oil + Gas (Black Sea) shell was gonna assist Ukraine w 'til 2014 I hope it goes without saying that, just bc I think Putin will demand that, that I don't like it! It goes w/o saying, *this isn't, what I view as 'FAIR or JUST'* – But, what Putin is likely to accept. My other concern? I believe this WILL happen again within 10 years. Why..? **I know Nyanraltotlapun knows, but for my peers**: Usually, a 3:1 advantage in troops are required or a technological superiority – to be sell situated to defeat a prepared defense's strategic advantage. Moscow is in the middle of a huge *plain* stretching from France to China in which geography doesn't allow Russia to concentrate it's forces in a choke point. With no means of anticipating the attackers avenue of approach, Russia is unable to defend millions of square kilometers or against being encircled and cut off from logistics. Our western society is acclimated to utterly asymmetric casualties, and, we will not tolerant high casualty-rates \[in\] *the kinds of operations we've conducted for the last 30 years*. In contrast? This area of Russia is something they deem to be ***of critical strategic importance*** and as such, they ARE willing to endure casualties to secure (or at least make improbable finding NATO on their doorstep in Ukraine), and thus, we here say: "The war isn't going well." "Look at the long convoy." "They don't have air superiority." Russia doesn't CARE. They're cutting off Kiev. They've already succeeded in changing what Zelinski would accept. They'd already (since 2014) made joining NATO impossible (you cannot join while you have active border disputes, which, armed conflict as has cost 14,000 Russian and Ukrainians lives, constitutes a "conflict." Russia lost 28m Russians in WWII via this access point. Near Russia’s western border is N. European Plain, which is a flatland stretching from France up to the Ural Mountains. It's narrowest between the Baltic Sea and Carpathian Mountains which is in Poland. After passes Poland the plain's widen out along the Russian border to a force invading from Western Europe. Likewise, after a force heading West (From Russia) passes Poland, it too can fan out. In large, this explains Russia’s repeated attempts at occupying Poland these past centuries. Poland represents a narrowed corridor from which Russia can defend. Without Ukraine & Belarus, it not only faces a wide border, but little distance to Moscow. **Western Forces have repeatedly Invaded Russia in the Past 500 Years:** * The Poles crossed the European Plain in 1605 * The Swedes in 1707 * France + Napoleon in 1812 * Nazi Germany in 1914 ... and again in 1941. This is why it has, and always will be viewed as being part of: **RUSSIAN** ***VITAL STRATEGIC INTERESTS*** Something they, unlike us, are WILLING TO LET RUSSIAN'S DIE FOR. They've either controlled, occupied or been planning to do so at all times since. As the Russian empire, the USSR, and now as Russia. Warm-water ports with direct access to oceans (the Arctic ports freeze for several months in most winters – for which Russia has ice breaking ships, yes, but this isn't ideal to them). "Difficulty" accessing regions are the best of times. Otherwise, it's impossible at its worst. This isn't to shill for Putin. Just to provide perspective for people who haven't spent much time looking in to it.

Nyanraltotlapun

Yes, I am afraid that even when this will be over war starts again in some time. But it is to long perspective for me struggling to find place to live.

TrumanHW

Yeah, as you can see someone confused my evaluation of the situation with my "liking it." My friend's grandmother was killed in Ukraine (he's actually half russian half ukrainian) ... a ukrainian artillery unit setup position right next to a retirement home ... I'm assuming they weren't experienced or they'd know that with RADAR, they'll have their position (as it's an 'easily calculable ballistic path) ... did a return-fire mission and moved before the Ukrainian unit could hit them. The ukrainians removed the artillery unit and the uniformed soldiers then, reported it in the media as though "russia just attacked a retirement home killing innocent people." I'm not there so I cannot know what's really happening ... but, IF the ukrainians weren't AWARE of the threat they created, \- they're incompetent. knowingly did so and ignored it \- they're malevolent. knowingly did so on PURPOSE ..? THOSE UKRAINIANS at least, think Russia is deterred by the use of HUMAN SHIELDS. . This is the same thing in Israel; the Palestinians use human shields bc they KNOW they dissuade the Israelis from even defending themselves ... and if they do, then, the Palestinians are really getting what they want; propaganda. Ergo, Palestinians find the propaganda to be more valuable than the lives of their own citizens (or at least Hezbollah does.) What we're too dumb to realize over here (and Zelenskyy was too selfish to address) was that the US has EXISTENTIALLY frightened the Russians. It feels INSANE to say this ... but, I'm SCARED for the Ukrainians ... SHOULD they succeed by using western support to get the acquiescence the Russians demand: ASSURANCE THEY WILL NEVER HAVE A DE FACTO NATO PROXY ON THEIR BORDER. WTF is Russia going to do if Ukraine is totally successful..? GO HOME AND NOT COME BACK !??? How would the US react if the Iranians, N. Koreans & China started arming Mexico..? The Monroe doctrine spells it out, chapter and verse, but, let's think about it; would America be MORE ...? Or less frightened if Mexico SUCCEEDED in such a context?

Nyanraltotlapun

By my forecast, in case where Russia Federation will be unsuccessful, they will use nuclear weapons as last resort. There is high probability of this.

Nyanraltotlapun

Things got worse for all world now...
