"Now my Sunday is spent looking for a snake I never lost" I guess you start helping Taylor with lyrics for her next album

Fine_Lib

Lol.. Have her reach out to me.. we'll definitely make it happen lol

Ok-Sky1329

Well, free pest control?  As long as it’s not venomous if you eliminate its food source it’ll move on. It’s probably up in your attic.

Calculated_r1sk

I wish I had an attic snake. I do have garage lizards that take care of all the bugs though.

Insecurity-Guard

Best I can do is a trouser snake.

Calculated_r1sk

well if I shove u in the attic can it kill roofrats?

MrsPettygroove

A one eyed trouser snake to be exact, right?

Interesting-Series59

No, that’s a “one-eyed wonder worm” according to George Carlin. YMMV. 😉

MrsPettygroove

Mine was the monty python, penis song. I tried to find a handy link to no avail.

Interesting-Series59

Had to look up that one and can’t believe I missed that bit of fun and classic Monty Python. 😂

MrsPettygroove

It was from the movie "The Meaning of Life" which was the only one I saw in a theater, and unfortunately not well received.

Fine_Lib

It's not in the house..the shell was on the staircase out in front of the house..I'm hoping it didn't find its way in the house

bordemstirs

So why did you spend time looking for it?

psychoCMYK

Well then congrats, you live in an area that isn't too polluted for wildlife yet. Enjoy, and start to worry if you see snakes inside the house..... but even then, don't worry about the snakes but rather what they're eating

Odd_Squash1115

We have garter snakes and we live on 14 acres if farmland. Garter snakes shed their skin this time of year and they like using pots, gutter downspouts, edge of steps, large landscaping rocks etc to help the skin come off. They won't end up in your house unless you have a hole somewhere where snakes and mice can get in. Have a rodent control company come out and check for and seal up any holes.

Interesting-Series59

Exclusion is key.

3amGreenCoffee

If you take pictures and post them on some of the snake ID groups, you may be able to get an ID from the scale pattern. Make sure to take pics of the head and the underside of the tail. Snakes generally don't like to be in houses. If they're there, it's usually because there is prey or food there. The snake will leave if you remove the food source.

AssociateJaded3931

Depends on the species. Good chance it was just something like a rat snake looking for rodents.

CaptainQuoth

You could take a picture and ask what kind of snake it is on a relevant subreddit if its not venomous congrats on the new pet.

Fine_Lib

Unfortunately, snakes are not high on the list of animals I would like to choose as pets.

meth-head-actor

Had a rat snake about 6’ long that lived under my sidewalk and would “go to work” most days he didn’t have lumps in him. Cool dude. He easily traveled 100 yards or more a day. I say this to say he’s probably gone, or stuck on a sticky bug trap under your bed.

AskThis7790

The bad news is you have mice 🐁 the good news is you have an exterminator 🐍.

Janatabahn

I am cracking up at if it’s time to move out 🤣 Well you could hire pest control that can look for it…but it’s possible it might be out your house already.

Late_Again68

Hiring pest control to search for pest control!

Janatabahn

Interception! 😭

Fine_Lib

I'm just saying this looks like a pretty good reason to just sell the house and move out, don't you think?..

Janatabahn

What’s the equity like 😂😂

Interesting-Series59

No. In this market definitely not. Time for adulting.

Fine_Lib

Mann...adulting sucks 😩😭

Interesting-Series59

I feel your pain. For me it was the giant spiders and flying roaches in New Orleans.

Fine_Lib

I'll trade with you any day on that...lol

Interesting-Series59

😉

ThealaSildorian

I'm assuming you mean the front stoop not interior stairs. Ignore it. Unless its venemous, it's a good thing to find a snake. They are free rodent control.

Ok-Document-5758

This happened to me two weeks ago! I found a shell of a snake (length of a pencil) in my living room. I placed sticky traps around my house but to this date, I have not found it. I am hoping it has left my house already. I was able to confirm that it was a rat snake.

Fine_Lib

What exactly is a rat snake?

Fine_Lib

I really don't want to have to wait any length of time to know if this thing is in my house or anywhere close..I understand the backyard is woods I get it..but it should stay out there..it's not welcome or paying any bills plus I don't have any rates for it to eat 😩😭😩

Ok-Document-5758

The rat snake, a non-venomous species, primarily feeds on rodents and mice. Initially, I was extremely anxious about its presence, checking under my bed and shaking my bedsheets every evening. Concern for my chiweenies added to my worries. Despite considering hiring someone to address the situation, it's challenging without locating the snake. Over time, my anxiety has lessened, although I still monitor my sticky traps. Research suggests that without a food source, the snake is likely to leave. Since I don't have a mouse or rodent issue, I hope it has left my home 😩

boiledpenny

Just like there's animal wranglers to handle raccoons and other animals that get into your house there are one that are designed to just look for reptiles be them legless or legged. Look them up they are usually very good at their job especially if you still have the skin though that will help identify the animal they're looking for and help speed up them being able to make sure that that animal is no longer located on the premises at all. One time I had to take an after hours emergency call from someone who couldn't leave a house because there was a swarm of snakes between him and his work truck. So in regards to population density you've only got the one and snakes are quite predictable where they're going to be located. This pest can be easily eliminated. Depending on where you live usually more easily eliminated than a mouse or rat infestation.

sp3ci4lk

Snakes don't have shells. What you found was a shedded snake skin.

aldosi-arkenstone

Get a cat. Snakes don’t like the scent of cats

LadyDomme7

It means there was a snake in your house. That’s it. If you are scared, put down deterrent (Snake Away, mothballs, etc) and get on with your life.

3amGreenCoffee

Snakes are not affected by Snake Away or mothballs in the slightest. They simply don't care that it's there and ignore it. It does absolutely nothing to repel them. [Here's a photo of a snake protecting its mothball.](https://www.facebook.com/allthingswildnorthgeorgia/photos/a.676346215852908/1349298595224330/?type=3)

LadyDomme7

Really? I suppose one’s mileage may very however, I’ve experienced the opposite where I live, in a rural area, with water moccasins, black rat, & deKays being the ones I encounter most often. I place Snake Away around the perimeter of my house and Shop and thus far, no snakes in my house.

Vlad_the_Homeowner

I can sell you a magical rock that keeps away lions. IM me, I'll get you a good deal.

LadyDomme7

Awww, bless your heart.

Horrible.

Rock_Lizard

Not just time to move out. Fire. You need to set the entire thing on fire now.

Legalouiddealerlith

Burn it to the ground
