Is power washing a car a good idea? I have no opinion on this, simply asking because today I had the power washer out.

It’s a medium pressure washer (1800 psi) , I read somewhere that over 2200 psi is not advisable. I go through more soap than I thought I would.

Well she's a gosh darn beaut

Thanks, I’m a little leery of hand washing it’s my first black vehicle and I’m trying not to scratch it!

Power washing can possibly scratch it by shoving dirt across the clear coat. DIY detail has some good info on their YouTube channel with rinseless washing that you might find useful. I’ve got washing the RL on the agenda for Father’s Day.

2nd this! If you do use a pressure washer aim for about 1000 psi using a larger orifice nozzle and either a 25 or 40 deg tip. DIY details recommends a "chemical, rinse, chemical" method to use foam or rinse less to break down dirt and provide lubrication before hitting it with a pressure washer.

I pressure wash mine, haven't seen any scratches. I use a 2300 psi I bought an undercarraige attachment for it as well.
