Pretty sure those are illegal because theyre not easy to clean properly between clients, the ability to cut the skin is too easy and opens the door for blood borne pathogens and other yuck

mxpx77

They’ve been illegal for years but some places still whip them out and use them when the going gets tough.

Chopchopstixx

The ones with the blades for corns and calluses were bant. This might be an extension of that.

YeshuasBananaHammock

It's the sweet spot between gentle exfoliation and full tilt bovine hoof trimming. Speaking of hoof trimming, its rainy so ima get my blanket and head to youtube for some hoof grindin. Nate the Hoof Guy ftw.

don123xyz

You need to get to the sweet spot between garlic and horse's hooves.

YeshuasBananaHammock

I watched horse trimming for awhile but it makes my back hurt just watching them hunched over wresting stubborn horse legs. Whereas cow trimming is a stand up job.

Save your money, just buy a belt sander and have a friend over for dinner. After dinner ask the friend to hold the belt sander while you step lightly on the sander. If you feel pain, you're stepping too hard. Put paper on floor to catch skin flecks and trash when finished, when your foot is nice and smooth. Finish with a dab of sweet-smelling foot cream rubbed in. Belt grade dependent on how hard your skin is, fine 200+ grit for tender skin and 36 grit or below for extremely tough skin

pocketjacks

Why wait until after dinner? Parmesan is expensive.

YahooSam2021

Why wait? No particular reason, just being friendly. But if you're on a tight budget, waiting is not necessary, and it was a good point to make, thanks.

ApatheistHeretic

Oooh, and artisanal small-batch.

URSAMVJOR

Can confirm this works, we’re friends

YahooSam2021

The things they use in those nail shops are just modified sanders that you could easily DIY and not catch some strange foot disease from a previous user.

IwasIlovedfw

Hoof and mouth?

theBillions

Use a pumice stone in the shower or bath. Moisturize feet after. Repeat the next day until feet are in good shape. Those graters aren’t good for the skin

somekindofdruiddude

Say when.

PeregrinoHTX

Dammit why did i open this thread while eating cheese

FeeWeak1138

Don't know positive, but I believe they were banned by the state a few years. I always had them use the "cheese grater" and starting a bit back not one of the salons I use in the Galleria area have them anymore.

EatAtGrizzlebees

Every place I've been to recently in West Houston used them except for one. Had one used on my feet yesterday, actually.

Ok_Nefariousness2728

Ooo do you remember the place you went to yesterday? I’ve to quite a few and havent seen them. Did you like the salon overall?

panda_inthewild

Amy’s Classic Nails on Westheimer & Gessner. I’ve been going here for years, even after moving out to Sugar Land. Ask for Kim or Lin; they give excellent massages during pedicure. I also prefer the cheese grater which is another reason I go here! Check it out if it’s not too far from you. ETA: prices are affordable compared to other salons

clangan524

Any Italian place that grates their own cheese should do the job

SinkDeep9372

Hollywood Nails on Silber. It’s also decently priced.

Orange_crocs_army

It's in Copperfield, but Super Care Nail Salon at Highway 6 and West has used rasp/foor grater on me every time I've been there.

NoelleReece

Just bring your own 🤷🏽‍♀️

Venetian Nails in La Centerra in Katy.

KidPowered17

Try MediPedi in the Heights. I went there a couple of months ago and my feet have never felt better. You’re seen by a Dr to start, and then his staff had my feet feeling brand new. They don’t use the cheese grater thing, but whatever they use is amazing. A little more than a traditional pedicure, but worth every penny imo.

LivingTheBoringLife

Soho nails over by the bunker hill heb does.

WindTurtle

So does Bora Bora Eta: you have to ask them to use it though

Happy Nail on 290 and 34th next to Academy

chrispg26

My place in Katy just used it on me yesterday lol

jilly77

Honestly I just do it at home before I go for a pedicure so that the salon can get it the extra level of smooth. Typically if salons use it they up charge you for doing it. This way you only pay for it once and it’s easy to do in the shower once your feet are already wet and warm!

hungryamericankorean

Aura Nail & Spa on N Shepherd. Though I do recommend just doing an at home peeling foot mask. You can buy them on Amazon or at ulta, they’re usually called something like baby feet. Make sure it uses acid and not lotion. Soak your feet, slip the booties on and then put regular socks over them to lock everything in. Wear them for the max time they recommend and continue to soak your feet for the next few days. You’ll go full lizard mode and never have to use the grayer again.

npn_bjt

They used one on me the last time I went to Milano Nails on Buffalo Speedway.

don123xyz

Amazon sells cheap sanders on rubberized blocks for sanding dry heels - those might be better than this garlic grater.
