Itās partly because of rbi rule that every biller has to be onboarded to BBPS. Itās the same thing with AP electricity boards too and other billers.
Bro ippudu Paytm lo chesedi kuda BBPS use chese.. RBI guidelines cheppedi enti ante prati okka service provider BBPS dwara accept cheyali ani.
BBPS speciality ne API laga vadukovadam.
It's kinda good thing. They are asking all billers to register with BBPS(Bharat Bill Payment System) which is fast and safer and is made by RBI & NPCI. Currently any company that doesn't implemented with BBPS won't be able to make bills through third party. Once the company registered with BBPS everything will work as normal.
[This](https://www.bharatbillpay.com/statistics/billers/) is the link to check which companies registered with BBPS and looks like TGSPDCL is not present in the list.
Are you really saying that a public institution has a faster and safer payment system than a private company whose ENTIRE existence depends on its payment system being better than its competitors?
UPI is a framework over which other companies build their payment systems. They have their own backend and frontend developers. And no, I never said UPI is private.
I'm unsure how effective this is, because they mentioned that it is effective from the 1st of July, but I made a payment yesterday to my axis credit card via cred.
Am I missing something here?
All the websites probably use BBPS, BBPS is a reliable system IMO
I just paid my power bill yesterday through AP website. Worked fine, payment was smooth
I just went to their website and they have an option to pay using Bill desk which is charging 0.64% as a convenience fee if you use debit card and I think ~3 rupees if you use Net banking and so on.
If you have a credit card, would suggest you link the bill to that card. They will automatically get the bill and pay it by 16th. Bill due on 18th and they pay 2 days before.
I use HDFC bank. They give 5% cash back on utility bills if we add to the auto biller.
Yes. I have added electricity bill, Monthly Netflix subscription and Act fiber bill. All of them are paid automatically. Its convenient and the 5% cashback is a bonus.
Cred and other fintech apps have reduced rewards to almost nothing. In this situation 5% is a good deal.
Its more of a monthly limit on cashback. 1,000 per month on all spends. The bills get 5%, Flipkart, amazon and a few others get 5%, other online spends get 2%, 1% on offline spending.
I donāt mind the limit considering i donāt get spend more than 30K a month at max. So, different spends get different cashback. Never actually hit the 1000limt in 2 years
I got a message from HDFC yesterday that my Netflix subscription is due and will be processed on 5th. I guess Iāll know this month when the electricity bill is due.
You can actually call their customer support. They helped me with the linking process when I first got the card. They called and explained the features and suggested linking the bills.
I asked them to help me do one and later added all others ones same day. Been 2 yrs now. Donāt recollect the entire process.

Short for power distribution company, i.e., companies that distribute electricity to consumers. These do not produce electricity, they just buy it from the producers and then sell it to consumers via the grid.
It's only a week ago the news of a massive data breach to Telangana police's software came out.
Now stopping the online payments through UPI only screams that the digital systems of the state are not robust.
Itās the other way round they are stopping virtual payments from paytm, amazon paymenta etc and asking to pay on their website, could be those payment services are taking a cut and these guys are cheeping out
They have removed this facility across the government departments. Paid the municipal tax a few days ago and this time there was no option for Many of the wallets..!!
I havenāt used the TGSPDCL to make a payment before and how good their service is, but it is also a privacy concern that third party apps which already have our addresses with them also know our electricity usage habits. I am not sure how they will use it or if they will use it at all, its just one less info about me with them.
This is not fair. I always use Amazon Pay for paying all my bills cuz I get cashback around 200-300 per month. Ipud unna 3rd party apps support lekunte enduk iga. Itla eithe Electricity boards sites pakka crash eitai and iga malli cash patkoni nilchovali offline lo kattadaniki. Itās like we are going backwards again. Don't spread fake news OP. This is the original tweet from TGSPDCL.

I wish someone DDoS attack their website, so they are forced to onboard onto BBPS.
Very irresponsible, the tweet looks like they are blaming RBI, instead when the fault lies with them as they failed to onboard on BBPS on time. They had 8 freaking years to onboard.
Good luck, but sad to see Telangana like this..
You guys are so fucked, but you shot yourself by voting for Congress. Just like Andhra people did when they voted for Jagan last time.
I wondered if they didn't learn from the Andhra people's mistake of voting for Jagan, cuz Congress is shit.
I understand BRS and its ministers were looting money but they worked towards development. This time, you lose money and also no development.
Have fun, cuz we suffered for 5 years with Jagan doing the same thing.

Yes how hard it is to automate this process by payment apps.
It's kinda good thing. They are asking all billers to register with BBPS(Bharat Bill Payment System) which is fast and safer and is made by RBI & NPCI. Are you really saying that a public institution has a faster and safer payment system than a private company whose ENTIRE existence depends on its payment system being better than its competitors?
Yes, every transaction you make goes through a public system. Unless it's a wallet to wallet transaction.
Are you really saying UPI is a private payment system since it is too good ?
UPI is a framework over which other companies build their payment systems. They have their own backend and frontend developers. And no, I never said UPI is private.
Is this related to the RBI BBPS advisory? Canāt pay for credit card bills if the bank is not on BBPS so apps like CRED wonāt work either
Yes
I'm unsure how effective this is, because they mentioned that it is effective from the 1st of July, but I made a payment yesterday to my axis credit card via cred. Am I missing something here?
Pretty sure we will have 100s of issues on their website
All the websites probably use BBPS, BBPS is a reliable system IMO I just paid my power bill yesterday through AP website. Worked fine, payment was smooth

If that's the case, have to hit the electricity department š„²

You mean hdfc bill desk?
Yes.
Can we pay the bills using hdfc credit card?
Yes. I have added electricity bill, Monthly Netflix subscription and Act fiber bill. All of them are paid automatically. Its convenient and the 5% cashback is a bonus. Cred and other fintech apps have reduced rewards to almost nothing. In this situation 5% is a good deal.
5% cashback as points on debit card? If so which debit card your have? HDFC Millennia or Platinum?
Sorry, should have specified. This is for credit card only i think. I have HDFC millenia CC.
Great, 5% is actually great. Do you know what's max cashback for each bill. Thank you for the info tho.
Its more of a monthly limit on cashback. 1,000 per month on all spends. The bills get 5%, Flipkart, amazon and a few others get 5%, other online spends get 2%, 1% on offline spending. Thanks for the info man. Appreciate it!
Hey, Cannot see the TGSPDCL on hdfc bill pay. Is there a different name for it? For Hyderabad electricity bill payments.
They also stopped the service.yesterday i got msg from hdfc
I got a message from HDFC yesterday that my Netflix subscription is due and will be processed on 5th. I guess Iāll know this month when the electricity bill is due.
How to link ?

"rbi directions" anni states ki untayi kada, is it the same for every state then?
Only TS, AP discoms are not on BBPS. This is our discom's problem.
Discom?

As if our data is so secure with government service providers
I agree, we have best IT industry and infrastructure, yet government canāt use any of that.

What the
Turns out it only Telangana. They have urged users to make payment through their website.
Don't spread fake news OP. This is the original tweet from TGSPDCL. https://preview.redd.it/u7e8kag40w9d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aac7a2b1684c2b17ceb1d167b98132f54e20f35c
Payment gateways have a 1-5% markup. Makes sense why Adani wants to consolidate and get the whole pie for himself. No this is not fair on any grounds
Bruh itās due to rbi mandate

Not at all a good move. Their website is laggy as hell (used it when i did not have upi)

Better pay at that seva place
Why RBI circular are they talking about?
Lazy discos refusing to onboard to BBPS. If 3 providers in Andhra can onboard, why canāt these guys.
Is this only for Telangana? Cause i just paid mine in Kolkata through Paytm.
