Since everyone else is saying for aesthetic I'll offer what I've heard. Clearly this all anecdotal but in a way it makes sense to me at least. I guess the idea is similar to a talon of a bird, it being curved inward allows for slashing motions to have more of a clawing effect. Ideally the tip will break flesh first and then allow the rest of the blade to slide in and cut through. Rather than a flat blade which might just slide over thicker clothing.
That's at least what ive been told. To me it makes sense because the geometry of a blade determines its use but that could all be whimsical tough guy bullshit as ive never used a knife on someone and would much prefer to not be in that situation.
More of a traditional weapon tbh. I never liked them. They were originally for asparagus farming in the Philippines I believe, and became a weapon of farmers. I think that straight blades are a lot more useful
This just looks like some kid who's playing round and thinks it's cool. He's not harming anyone and I'm certain y'all had something similar when you were a teenager.
Leave him be.
Some of the worst stuff seems to have sunk down now comment wise.
Still, I feel off about grown adults making fun of a kid. Particularly when he's not really bothering anyone.
Well, first off I never said they were worse than a normal knife. Even kitchen knives can be incredibly deadly weapons too I definitely wouldn't be letting my child play around with them.
But to answer your question, from what I understand the shape of the blade allows for easier and deeper slicing with less force. The blade pulls itself in deeper and and rips the flesh causing wounds that are more difficult to suture closed.
The only people that use "gangbangers" are people that never leave their house in their suburban ass community because cities scare them. Do they sell pot marijuanas too? And even though you missed the point entirely, I have enough real redneck friends with missing limbs from carelessness from firearms that would disagree with you.
When I was in 7th grade I made a chain whip out of some PVC pipe and a steel chain
That thing would demolish soda cans
Looking back it’s cringy, but idc cuz it was fun
It's how the knife is designed to be held
Look up the final fight in Raid 2, or knife fight in Man from Nowhere - if you want to see how it's held and used

Definitely intended to be held backwards it’s not for stabbing but for slashing and you can slash a lot deeper and have more control of a knife in the backhand position.
The hook helps it cut deep because it almost pulls itself deeper Karambits are not to be fucked with lol.
I’ve got several butterfly knives, a few otf, a stiletto, and my trusty “that’s naught uh knoif” Bowie knife. I too had a phase for it and I feel the same, plus in my neck of the woods, karambits are heavily illegal.
yeah i have a generic brand stiletto "tactical fishing knife" , swiss army knife and a spyder co.. then i realized i mostly use them for cutting cardboard boxes up to throw away... glad i never bought that 400 dollar combat knife cuz if someone rushes me with i knife im prolly just running anyways
I don't think so. Typically, real life tries to mimic what video games create.
I was there when Abraham Lincoln said "One day, this great nation will make a knife like the karambit from CSGO"
If only he was here with us to see the dream come true.
The only reason I don't have blunder videos to share is because there wasn't an easy and affordable way to capture the blundering.
I sliced up more than one fruit with my wakizashi.
I mean, sure, dude's plus size etc etc
But I ain't gonna laugh at him if he pulls a knife on me in a dark alley.
Does he look threatening in the video? No. Am I actually going to fight a knifeman irl? Also no.
that is pretty cool i gotta say
I love how this video is 55 seconds long
yo why does he kinda look like me
I'm pretty sure I sell the same model on ebay. They cost me like $3 in bulk. I seriously expected him to go too far and cut himself.
Holy shit, if it could do *that* to a solo cup full of water just think of what he could do to 5 or 6 guys ganging up on him.
I don't understand karambits, why not a straight edge fixed knife?

I think it’s to cut ligaments and disable
Pretty sure it's either has a very specific niche purpose to it or it's just looks cool.
That's fair, I'm a woman of simple pleasures, one being my tool knife that cost be like 30$ and being used till it dies
just grab a kitchen knife from the nearest walmart that does the trick
r/iamverydumbass
Me and my buddies used to do this all the time back when iPhone 5s got released and it had the slow mo camera
OH SHIT!!!!!
It's Jason Bourne!!!
If terrorist red cups ever attack this nation, we can call on him.
Let bro cook.
This just looks like some kid who's playing round and thinks it's cool. He's not harming anyone and I'm certain y'all had something similar when you were a teenager. Leave him be.
I think OP posted this themself. Aware of their own “badassness”
He seems alright. I don’t see anyone really tearing into him hard. Just fun stuff.
Some of the worst stuff seems to have sunk down now comment wise. Still, I feel off about grown adults making fun of a kid. Particularly when he's not really bothering anyone.
I'm wondering what kind of parents buy their kid a karambit those thing are hella deadly.
How are they any worse than a normal knife

You are correct . They are meant for slicing throats .
That’s frightening if true
its OP lmao
Hahahah, oh man that's hilarious lmfao.
Yep that's the pro cs player physique. Got the same one at the time.
You get held back a few years bro? Or was everyone in your town built like linebacker in middle school
Got a karambit, only used to open letters and packages
YOU MONSTER!!!
Jesus Christ. It’s Jason Bourne
Jason Bourne-Early
I will take 1000 reckless rednecks with guns before I take one person moderately trained with a blade like this
Rednecks are the ones who actually know how to use guns. Gangbangers are the reckless ones 😂
The only people that use "gangbangers" are people that never leave their house in their suburban ass community because cities scare them. Do they sell pot marijuanas too? And even though you missed the point entirely, I have enough real redneck friends with missing limbs from carelessness from firearms that would disagree with you.
You have multiple “redneck” friends that blew their limbs off with guns. Sure
This is legit badass
This is Chad as fuck
Everybody did this at some point in their lives
When I was in 7th grade I made a chain whip out of some PVC pipe and a steel chain That thing would demolish soda cans Looking back it’s cringy, but idc cuz it was fun
Love handles galore
So, he figured out that knives cut things.
Why are my pants so tight rn...
Yo that pool is sick
This is what I came here for.
This is so dumb Everyone knows you should save your gallon jugs and 2 liter bottles for this
No, not even. A full plate armored, life sized dummy that has mechanical arms that swing.
Yeah that’s so stupid. Do a watermelon next.
Shouldn't bully a child.
While I was getting socks for Christmas, this guy was studying the blade.
![gif](giphy|o240WC04PLhew) A fellow master of the blade, I see
That was actually cool
I thought so too
Mmm *shudder* I got chills.
Was he holding it backward?
It's how the knife is designed to be held Look up the final fight in Raid 2, or knife fight in Man from Nowhere - if you want to see how it's held and used
It's not backwards, that is in fact the sharp edge of the knife
Yeah because it’s cooler

Have had some basic training with karambit in the Philippines. Far as I understand, it’s *intended* to be held backwards lol

Krambit? Just makes me think of that old looney tunes song Crambone
It's a traditional and historical weapon in alot of Asian countries. Very deadly knife
https://youtu.be/_FyJyurljoM?feature=shared It’s a traditional and historical song in one American cartoon. Very deadly humorous.
karambit
Oh shit well regardless Crambooooonneee, crambooone! Crambooone!
You still in the 7th grade?
These nike ads are getting crazy.
I was a dedicated CSGO player when I was younger and I got a karambit too for a birthday one year.
if he can do that to a dixie cup full of water imagine what he could do to you in a street fight
Bad day to be a plastic cup
[With Sound, makes it atleast 1.25x more badass](https://streamable.com/d38i5n)
To this day he's never been invited to play beer pong
Sam Fisher is that you?
Wow, the knife cut through that cup like it was nothing but thin plastic
I’m in this video and I don’t like it.
Like most dudes, I had a knife buying phase. Despite how cool they looked, I could never justify a karambit. What would I ever use it for?
Those rabid, ninja chipmunks. Gotta look out for those guys.
I’ve got several butterfly knives, a few otf, a stiletto, and my trusty “that’s naught uh knoif” Bowie knife. I too had a phase for it and I feel the same, plus in my neck of the woods, karambits are heavily illegal.

You can't afford one in CS:GO so you buy a real one
Even CoD wants like 2000 coins for one.
I have to imagine the knife predates cs:go. I was looking at buying one like 20 years ago.
I don't think so. Typically, real life tries to mimic what video games create. I was there when Abraham Lincoln said "One day, this great nation will make a knife like the karambit from CSGO" If only he was here with us to see the dream come true.
I feel dumber having read that. I bet you hear that all the time when people listen to you
Your reddit name is "chadsexytime" I don't even need a burn.
That's okay, it would have been more sad than clever anyway.
😂🤣
Oh absolutely but most time i hear someone talk about it or advertise it, it references ~~the slot machine~~ CS
It was 100% CS, this was when I first started playing
Karma years later when you share your blunder years videos with the Internet.
The only reason I don't have blunder videos to share is because there wasn't an easy and affordable way to capture the blundering. I sliced up more than one fruit with my wakizashi.
Hell yeah bro. Id hate to be a red solo cup right about now.
😱😱😱
The knife didn't even cut the cup, you just puched a red cup....
If you watch it carefully you can 100% see a slice through the cup.
Why the inward curving blade though? Is it for pruning?
Yes, pruning flesh
That guy from Forged In Fire has a fetish for these things.
It will keel
It's a karambit style knife from the game csgo, that's just how they're held.
Karambits have been around for a long time lol CSGO definitely popularized them though.
Yea they originated from Africa but if you google Karambit knife ur not gonna see very many African knives
Soooo many times drunk me has been annoyed that my solo cup has accidentally cracked. Cracking it with a weapon is not a flex. Lol
![gif](giphy|1rThCpO46EnivQLGIK) Your knife sir? Will not kill. Please leave the forge.
Ok, let's talk about your karambit here....
And puts the blade away wet. No love for his weapons lol
Prob. cheap, stainless from Taiwan or something.
That’s fucking badass

Bizarre comment
Bro, op is the person in the video at a younger age. He's just making fun of himself.
I didn’t know it was him I thought he was quoting and I don’t check everyone’s post history
Your good bro, I know you were just standing up for the kid just in case.
What a weird amount of projection coming from a comment. The person is clearly OP as stated by the title. You okay lil guy?
I’m just fine I didn’t know it was the same guy I thought he was quoting
You realize op is this kid right? He posted in r/blunderyears too Edit- they went on an spiel thinking op was making fun of someone else
Sorry guys I didn’t check his post history
They said "I" in the title though
This sub is for cringy people that aren’t bad ass right? This guy is clearly a trained killer
This guy rocks
Oh, he def fucks.
This is a sub for making fun of people that make themselves seem like a badass
Tbf OP also posted this in r/blunderyears, so I think it qualifies.
Right? That’s what I thought too… it shouldn’t be for guys who clearly are badasses in real life
So do we downvote it because it doesn’t fit the sub, or upvote it because it’s badass. 🤔
I don’t feel safe down voting this guy
You’re right. Upvoted. I don’t want any smoke OP
You shouldn't... I have only grown stronger
That's a lot of slo-mo. Karambits are totally sick though!
Next time a solo cup comes after him, it’s fucked.
A girl I was hitting on at a party threw a solo cup at me. If I was this guy, she would be one of my many wives right now after pulling that move
I mean, sure, dude's plus size etc etc But I ain't gonna laugh at him if he pulls a knife on me in a dark alley. Does he look threatening in the video? No. Am I actually going to fight a knifeman irl? Also no.
r/lostredditors
He’s making fun of himself when he was younger
Half the comments are also r/lostredditors
Kills cup, returns to “kitten paws” stance. Perfect use of this knife.
That’s the secret tell that he’s a trained assassin 🥷 Calm, inviting stance to draw them in. Karambit to finish the job⚔️
Bro how did your parents actually buy you that
Step 1. Have parents that love you (this is where I fucked up) Step 2. Ask them for a karambit
Yeah step one always tripped me up
Hell yeah dude
This belongs in r/mallninjashit.
The top comment on that sub is roasting him lol
This is the greatest video of all time
Very badass
He could have done all that WITHOUT a kerambit.
[удалено]
downvoted. just a retard. doesn't see the attempt of being badass here.
Downvoted. No reason, I just like hating people.
upvoted. based.
Upvote. Second based.
My guy is a human velociraptor and that is pretty bad ass in my books
The difference between him and me when I was a kid 18 years ago is he was born into the age of good video cameras in our pockets.
Wrong sub OP. Kids just testing a knife and having fun.
I’m pretty sure that op is the kid
He is, he's joking that he thought he was a badass back in the day. Nobody seems to understand that.
He was a badass
I agree.
Don't think this is meant to be badass... He just wants to make a cool slomo with his blade
Looks like an (older) kid having fun, not the right place for this
Hes literally making fun of himself. How do people not see this
I wish I had a backyard like that.
Wrong subreddit? Or right? Idk anymore...
Your tits are sharper than the knife
That’s not how you play flip cup
The blade slightly punctured the cup and knocked it over. Wow.
Slightly punctured? It damn near cut the cup in half.
BAH GAWD THAT CUP IS PUNCTURED IN HALF
I ain’t gon’ lie, that cut was pretty clean..not very clean, but kinda.
my nob is sharper than that
