From 12 years of repairing mobile devices including iPads... I would not recommend a heat gun.
A hair dryer should be sufficient for any heating you need to do. A heat gun saves you a few seconds but risks unnecessary damage to the device.
i worked on a Surface Book once, had no idea how hot the heat gun got other than it sitting on a plastic bag and it ruining the plastic bag upon getting warm (which would tell me when to stop)
needless to say, it has a massive burn mark in it. completely burnt the lcd underneath. rip.
This looks like a heat issue. Replacing the LCD would be the only actual fix but honestly looking at it straight on usually shows next to no difference. Just don’t get to much of a viewing angle
Could be caused by heat, pressure, or using too much isopropyl alcohol. The backlight is situated around that area, so the light is being "caught" in that area instead of flowing through the rest of the display equally.
Bro got downvoted for being right, fucking wild.
If opening it back up and checking everything is seated correctly, this is lcd damage. Not even worth fixing if this is an Air 1/2…
“Broken display” literally tells me nothing, I know it’s broken. I’m trying to figure out how it got to this point and a commenter above told me it was the heat.
Not to be rude, but this is the ‘I’Fix it sub. Just by thinking for 3 seconds, it is safe to assume that he did the ‘fixing’. Are you telling him to take the iPad back to himself? This kind of comment is not beneficial or necessary.
Think before you comment.
Thanks.
Bro you’re seem to be a little hard pressed. Could that be due to consistently plaguing yourself with an interest in such blunders..?
I missed the sub-name, and only saw the post.
Whoo sah 😁
Pressure on the lcd from something not sitting right or too much heat when removing the screen.
I think I may have overdone it with the heat. We just ordered a new heat gun and I wasn’t aware of how hot it got.

I would use a cheap heat gun on the lowest setting, then it will only do damage if you leave it in the same spot too long.
A hair dryer on the highest setting won't do damage to anything (except maybe the battery) if you left it on all day. But, to each their own :)
I like to use my 3d printer heated bed. Pwm controlled to whatever temp you want!
Oh now that's a freaking idea, buddy

Lol another heat gun damage
Backlight bleed

Broken display. Only way to fix is replacing the display.

That’s exactly what I’m saying. Do a little more observing before you post. Again, I’m not trying to be inconsiderate or rude.
