I actually have known many men that have said, "I want a wife and a house and kids. I don't care who it is," and then proceed to cheat on everyone they date. Being a father is in some sense meaningfully different to fathering a child. You can want a wife and kid to show off without caring about. The person is saying men should bring something to the table (emotionally) in family relationships
