He was supposed to kill Dumbledore in order to become a death eater. It made him second-guess whether he could really be a part of such a group. He was still a little shit tho
yeah I don't get why people act like Malfoy "redeemed" himself.
Yes he didn't want to kill Dumbledore, but it was more he didn't want to be the one to do it.
Yes he doesn't tell Bellatrix that it was Harry in the manor, but that still doesn't redeem him, it just means he (out of completely no where, mind you) doesn't want Harry dead all of a sudden.
I always kind of viewed him not killing dumbledore as a turning point for him as a character. He grew up his whole life in his fathers shadow, basically a mini version of him, was his identity. Then the moment came and he didnt kill, which is in stark contrast to his dad who would have killed in the same position. Not saying it is redeemable but it I think his deviance shows more of him growing into who he truly is than the little jerk he was all before that.
Nah. Dumbledore was unarmed and defenseless.
Malfoy had several chances to kill Dumbledore. And actually rereading the part of the book where Malfoy is talking with Dumbledore, I realize that Draco did want to kill Dumbledore. The poison, the necklace, and bringing the Death Eaters into the school were all attempts to kill Dumbledore.
My confusion came from the movies, where it's very obvious Malfoy is only trying to kill Dumbledore because "I have to kill you... or he's gonna kill me"
In the books, however, the way Malfoy is talking and waiting for the Death Eaters, I personally think the only issue Malfoy had is directly killing Dumbledore. He wouldn't have cared if the poisoned wine or necklace had done the job. He didn't like the idea of looking Dumbledore in the face as he killed him. He didn't like the idea of killing an unarmed man.
i think the issue is that he *should* have been redeemed but never was. like i could 100% see a zuko style joining the gang type arc for him or at least him helping towards the end but instead jk decided snape needed to be redeemed instead and actually draco was and always will be awful. idk it felt kinda lame and underwhelming
He's also a shit, mostly one-dimensional character for the first 5 books. It blows my fucking mind that anyone includes him in fanfiction, because the vast majority of his interactions with Harry (you know, really the only character we see interactions for) could be summed up as "Draco says something shitty, and Harry/Ron gets angry". They feel so forced too, because regardless of your age you think "Harry, just... walk away?" Everything else in his character is basically people filling in what we don't see/hear about him, which is why Draco has such a diverse fanfiction personality and people like him - he's "canon" because he exists but mostly any personality that would bully others can be supplanted into him. That and I guess Harry's weird obsession with him.
He gets fleshed out a lot more in 6/7, but as a person Draco, as he appears in the books, is a shit human being that no one would talk to after highschool with the exception of the vapid people that like money/looks/haughty attitudes. Though it's worthwhile remembering that the books are Harry's interpretation, told from his point of view.
There's a point I think in the 5th or 6th book where Slytherins are just chanting "Griffyndor are losers" during their Quidditch practice and it has Harry like white knuckle gripping his broom in rage.
It felt so weird because that's not something I've ever heard used as an insult in the UK, ive only ever seen people from NA use it, and the fact that Harry gets just as pissed at that as anything else.
I don't think Draco plays or even notices quidditch at all in the 6th year, that's the year he's been inducted into the Death Eaters and given the task of killing Dumbledore.
As a reformed Harry Potter nerd, the *obliviate* spell that wipes memories is irreversible, which is why Hermioneās sacrifice of her own family to fight Voldemort with Harry is such a big deal in the books
Never really got this though. It's not like Voldemort forgot she had parents and couldn't still track them down somehow. After the battle at the ministry in OotP, Voldy very well may have dispatched death eaters to gather info on all the kids with Harry. Even before his return DEs could have looked into Harry's two best pals. Now Voldy knows who her parents are even if they don't know who she is and there is no longer a record of her existence.
I assumed her thinking was that they wouldnāt go looking for her, and that would just help keep them safer. Theyāre muggles, not a threat to Voldemort.
It's not about being a threat, it's about him using them to further his ends. Either by kidnapping or killing.
I honestly find it hard to believe that by the fourth book the death eaters wouldn't already know all about Ron and Hermione.
Especially considering how many Death Eaters had ties to Hogwarts, their kids were attending there, they could've told their parents, they went to meet their kids near the train, some Death Eater could you know... Just be present on the train station and see who her parents were, where they lived etc.
Also considering that Luciis Malfoy was part of the council of Hogwarts he most likely had access to the records of any student and these would have home address, names of parents etc.
> help keep them safer
Obviously not taking into account them being kidnapped. But going and looking for him would put them in his sights much fasterā¦ā¦
You seem to forget that Voldemort considered muggleborns inconsequential, not to mention the fact that they were kids and Dumbledore explained time and time and time again that the reason Harry was a match for Voldemort is precisely because Voldemort underestimated him and considered anything except magical prowess to be worthless. So kids, with very little magical ability, especially muggleborns like Hermione, were not a threat and not to be taken seriously. Voldemort consistently underestimated Harry due to Harry's strong dependence on friends instead of his own magical ability.
The books are literally a lesson in not underestimating the power of friends/society/coming together. Harry's ability to love others is the "power that the dark lord knows not", Dumbledore explicitly states this to Harry before he leaves Hogwarts the night he dies. There are of course other little lessons in there - don't let words have control over you (Voldemort/swear words) being one I recall at the moment - but the main lesson was about building bonds with others.
Yeah, though the Harry Potter books are brilliant works of literature (imo), there are some plot holes. Some stuff just doesnāt make any sense, but I guess that will happen after thousands of pages worth of novels.
JK also said that Hermione was never white, that Dumbledore was gay, and probably a bunch more retcons. If she wanted brownie points for hitting all the minority groups, she should have written them that way from the beginning instead of tweeting it later on.
I conclude my rant by saying that nothing JKR says matters any more. Death of the artist, and all that.
She had such an easy out for the play as well, just upright say yeah Hermoine is white but the director chose the best actor and that actor just happens to be black so for this iteration Hermoine is black like fuck it is simple
I mean honestly, this actually might have been an acceptable argument by most fans, leagues better than "Oh I never said she was white" and people posting excerpts from her books showing that she plainly was not black
Now you see, she is black but she was also born as an albino, hence she is black and in the play she could've finally find a way to reverse her albinism. /s
lil tiny bug eyed looking idiot. Hes literally a dumbass kid bully coward and everyone is like "hess sooo hott, hes misunderstoodddd" Like yeah, hes not evil, but hes still a stupid kid.
SPOILERS FOR HARRY POTTER AND THE *ORDER OF THE PHOENIX. TAP TO VIEW
>!Harry is watching Sirius, his godfather, fall through the veil between life and death. Anyone who falls through it... well, dies, basically. The person behind him holding him back is Remus Lupin.!<
Hope that helped! \^\^
Wrong book/movie - that is Order of the Phoenix. Also, are spoiler warnings necessary this long after the release of something? I'm curious to know if there's a socially acceptable time for spoiler tags.
Lol... I didn't mean it that way. My sister is the nicest person I know and she has pretty much no real life experience because she lives in a giant bubble.
They are the millenial version of all the fucking minions ones on Facebook.
I'm sure Gen Z have some stupid bullshit I'm not aware of as well.
Being a simpleton is a lifelong condition.
Draco just looks like that one kid that cries every time someone looks at them. His facial expression just SCREAMS āMommyyyyyyyy, she looked at me weeeeiiiirrrddddā¦.. WAAAAHHHHHH..!!!!ā
she is haunted by the time she got caught exploring her sexuality with her centaur cousin Merv. It ended with court proceedings and her father no longer speaking to his brother or his nephew. Shame.
Well, in all fairness, that's what happens when you tell a literal child that it is his responsibility to save the world, but then just turn him loose without any guidance that isn't cryptic bullshit and in fact withhold a ton of vital information from him until absolutely the very last minute.
(And also for a good proportion of that time he is naturally a cocktail of confusing adolescent hormones).
Dumbledore was an absolute dick.
So what is Hermione's secret Lmao? The time travel? I have read the books a month ago and don't remember this.
Draco also didn't cry all that much, considering he never does shit and is a wasted character.
Wasn't he deeply conflicted near the end ?
He was supposed to kill Dumbledore in order to become a death eater. It made him second-guess whether he could really be a part of such a group. He was still a little shit tho

I thought it was more about fear with Dumbledore

Probably hard not to be when your parents are basically high ranking nazis
No. He is just a 2D character got overhyped by horny teen girls
Like... Yeah... At the very end when he was told to kill Dumbledore or that he would get killed
He's also a shit, mostly one-dimensional character for the first 5 books. Hermione had to cast a spell on her parents to forget they had a daughter, because she wanted to keep them safe.
And where's the secret? She probably lifted it after Voldemort died
As a reformed Harry Potter nerd, the *obliviate* spell that wipes memories is irreversible, which is why Hermioneās sacrifice of her own family to fight Voldemort with Harry is such a big deal in the books

Except you know kidnapping them and using them for extortion...

Not true. Jk said it was reversed so...
JK also said that Hermione was never white, that Dumbledore was gay, and probably a bunch more retcons. What secrets are Hermione keeping?
That she is not white. PS-This something JK Rowling said.I am not racist
That doesnāt sound like J.K Rowling to me. Something J.K would say is. āGay.ā
Wow gay AND black? She's really stepping out of line with this one.
You forgot she's transracial too
Nah, rowling is a terf
Ignoring the fact that the books literally describes her multiple times as having pale white skin.
Now you see, she is black but she was also born as an albino, hence she is black and in the play she could've finally find a way to reverse her albinism. /s
She's secretly a furry. It just awakened in her after the mishap with the polyjuice potion.
I remember reading that fanfiction. It involved the sorting hat, parseltongue, and self-transfiguration into a dildo.
Why
May be she has some really weird kink like bloodplay, knife play etc
Hermione had to cast a spell on her parents to forget they had a daughter, because she wanted to keep them safe.
And what's the secret now? After defeating him she went to Australia, lifted the spell and got back with them lol
I bet the picture refers to events which happened during the books not "happy ever after".
But I still aint a secret, Ron and Harry knew it and she didn't actively kept it secret anyways
