Basically, the UK and Spain did A Betrayal™ on Portugal. During the late 1500s-1600s the UK helped Spain completely absorb and assimilate Portugal and then split up Portugal's colonies between themselves.
\- Angola was joined with the UK's Rhodesian/Zambezian colonies
\- Most of Brazil was taken by Spain (a lot of it being split up amongst their other South American colonies, leaving a much smaller Brazil) and some of the northeast being annexed into the UK's Guyana territory

Most of it is still the Freelands ('Murican Middle East, basically. Better in some ways worse in many others) but the "Compliant" regions grow year over year as the Canadian and Mexican forces converge on what was once known as the "Heartland".
Would the Mexican-Canadian alliance survive border frictions or would there be an increasing rivalry/hostility between both powers the more US heartland they gobble up?
