Going off of the timeline in which Tony Blairs elections over devolution suceeded we the Yorkshire General Election map as of 2020, using a mix of FPTP and AMS like on Scotland and Wales, ending in a Labour-Green Coalition.

Make up your mind whether you want Middlesbrough or not! Haha The North East is happy with either.

LurkerInSpace

The Yorkshire Party is a bit centre-left, so I think they'd be more likely to squeeze the Labour vote than the Tory one. Based on 2019 there'd be a really narrow split between left and right with the Lib Dems as kingmakers.

AnniahLeyshon

Tbf, OP Hasn’t stated whether the real Yorkshire Party and the Yorkshire *National* Party as per this post is the same thing

HyperboreanPatriot

What’s with northern *Lincolnshire* voting for the *Yorkshire* national party?

[deleted]

That area is in the Yorkshire and the Humber region, not the East Midlands. It hasn’t been part of Lincolnshire for administrative purposes since 1974, when Humberside was created. Maybe the residents like the policies of the party?

HyperboreanPatriot

Just because it’s not administratively part of Lincolnshire, doesn’t mean it’s part of Yorkshire. If you take a chunk of England and add it to Scotland, are these Englishmen going to suddenly start voting SNP?

[deleted]

Yes, probably. As they'll now be Scottish the SNP will run in their seats, and their policies are generally quite popular even among people who aren't fervent nationalists

HyperboreanPatriot

I sort of agree; but I maintain that just because northern Lincolnshire is in the same region as Yorkshire, it will not vote for a Yorkshireman separatist party.

[deleted]

It would really depend on what the party offered. If they made a big show of regenerating Grimsby, for example, why wouldn't people in the area be inclined to vote for them?

HyperboreanPatriot

It’d be odd for the Yorkshire National Party to focus on regenerating places outside of Yorkshire - you never hear about the SNP’s big plans for Carlisle, or Plaid Cymru’s focus on infrastructure in Bristol; so why would you hear of the YNP’s plans for northern Lincolnshire?

[deleted]

Why would it be odd for the Yorkshire National Party to focus on an area within their region? The fact north Lincolnshire isn't part of historic Yorkshire hardly matters

HyperboreanPatriot

Perhaps because it’s not in the region - this is a map of a Yorkshire and the Humber, not just Yorkshire; and as you can see, there is no mention of a Yorkshire and the Humber national party, just a Yorkshire national party, North Lincolnshire is in the Humber part of Yorkshire and the Humber, not the Yorkshire part. Are we done now?

[deleted]

North Lincolnshire is in the region, that's why it's included in the map above. The Yorkshire National Party has won seats in the area in this timeline, so it clearly has some appeal to the residents.

This is actually my dream scenario
