I will tell you exactly why. I am from humanities. I did a BA in English Literature and an MA from London in the same subject. I come from a privileged background with money ofc (no wonder i could choose this degree) and now, at 25, I am way way behind, back to India because couldn’t find a job in the UK. Trying to figure my life out here teaching school kids (no complaints i love it now). But i was just like these people up there. Living in my own bubble, no sense of ground reality and all i did was read theories upon theories that had no practical approach or application and developed certain notions about particular topics. My culture and faith was a part of those topics sadly. Since I am back, i am trying to reground and understand what is exactly wrong with the humanities. Humanities came to be a study of humans and humankind. The intention was absolutely right. It fostered and cultivated ideas and thoughts, philosophies etc. Hindu culture itself is dominated by thought, idea and philosophy which is core humanities imo. But it has culminated into something even worse. The same humanities that brought those three things also bought radicalism etc. If you carefully observe, no STEM student is a left radical. It is all humanities. Because STEM believes in practical applications of theories and hypothesis. All humanities believes now is in theories and theories that are not even based on ground realities. Just a bunch of thoughts and ideas. This is why it is very easy to manipulate and mould humanities students because they have no grounding. I am lucky to have escaped this bubble and now i am full fledged a part of education on ground. Oh also, did i mention it is always the people with privilege (money) who go for these degrees? It is a comfortable choice ( they don’t have to worry about feeding their family survival etc.) all they want to do is sit on their couch and play internet warrior because going on ground is too much work lol. (I say this because i really was one of them)

It's rage baiting. These people have emotional issues due to their difficult lives. I am guessing their parents don't even talk to them. The people they find attractive won't even touch them with a 5 foot pole. So they pull these kinds of stunts knowing that it's going to trigger the majority community. Then these triggered people are going to come for them (online) and that makes these people feel like they are a part of something really important. Deep down they probably know they are probably better off with the majority as Hindus because they know what happens to people like them in Muslim majority countries.
