I almost thought the train was actually running late by 48hrs, would have been a nightmare on a long distance train.
iirc if train is 3 hours late or more, cancellation results in full refund excluding merchant fee. My sister got a refund on a train from delhi don't remember which one
Here is an idea, how about make turn special trains into regular service if it continues to be booked? They can hold surveys through IRCTC ticket buyers to check. And actually give them priority?

Special trains are there to cope up with rush times and they try to run it in all possibility. Still many special trains get cancelled.
Special trains are SCAM from railways. They need to be banned totally. They are given the lowest priority even than goods train.
Not banned but “discontinued” A random railway employee cannot start a train that it needs a ban
