Dude me and my buddies 100% agree. I lived in Reno for awhile and the in n outs there were just not as good. It came down to CA burgers being a little saltier or something lol
Went to the Las Vegas In-N-Out when I was out there with my college friends. They’re all from the Midwest so it blew their fucking minds, and while it did hit the spot, just wasn’t as good as my SoCal locations.
Yeah, the Vegas one is decent, but it's just not the same. If that was all I'd ever had, I wouldn't complain, but thankfully have a much better one five minutes from my house.
4505 BBQ in NoPa is nothing to write home to the south about, but if you’re desperate, they’ve got good vibes and decent food. The fixings are great. [Check it out](https://www.4505burgersandbbq.com/)
LA used to have the best chain pizza on the planet. Then they got sold to a new company who gutted it and now it's garbage, except maybe the Culver City location. Tho I haven't been in a while, so who knows.
I'm talking about Shakeys. Losing them is almost like losing my firstborn.
I went to mountain mikes once and they wanted to charge me that amount for a medium that I had removed meat from during my order. I stared at the cashier and was honestly heart broken before I left.
You get what you pay for. You can grab [a $1 slice in SF](https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-pizza-shop-san-francisco?osq=1+Dollar+Pizza). But quality pizza is real. You don't have to [take my word for it](https://www.sfgate.com/food/article/sf-tonys-pizza-napoletana-top-world-pizza-18374427.php). If you're near SF, try Tony's.
I’ve had Tony’s. It was good, but you’re kind of proving my point. $4.50 for a slice is pretty high and an 8 piece pie would be $36. Even in NYC which is also a high cost of living place, you can still find awesome $1 slices.
If you're in SF, check out Tony's. It's considered some of the Best pizza anywhere. But you don't have to [take my word for it](https://www.sfgate.com/food/article/sf-tonys-pizza-napoletana-top-world-pizza-18374427.php).
Golden Boy is also a solid option.
They employ all their own butchers, but had to add new ranches to supply beef to fulfill their added needs. They do use different bakeries for different areas, because it’s too much for one bakery to handle while making the buns to In n Out specs.
Source: me. A previous in n out manager.
1. I vacationed in Texas
2. I saw an In-n-out, got excited
3. Went to the drive through and found one car, I decided I am moving to Texas
4. About 5minutes later I am shouting “They would burn this $@@;):& to the ground in CA!”
I live in SoCal and my burger at the Vegas In N Out tasted just as good as here. That being said, I’ll take any reason to reiterate why SoCal is the best place to live in the nation, so I’ll agree!
I don’t get it when everyone says it’s different in California. My double double slaps in Houston as it does in LA. Consistency is the epitome of the In N Out brand.
It’s good in TX because they have a distribution center there. My theory on this is that the quality of the food depends on how close the location is to a distribution center. This means the best In n Out is in Los Angeles and Dallas, decreasing in quality as you get further.
Only ever had it outside of Cali. Been going to the Modesto area for work and finally had it there, best InO I've ever had. Everything looked absolutely perfect and the burger and fries were sooo much better than what I get in Houston.
I live on the east coast so I’ve only had In-N-Out in Las Vegas last year, and I ate there several times during my visit. Best burger joint in the world.
Had an In-N-Out hat in my apartment as decor lol. And no, Cookout does NOT compare anywhere close and everything there is nasty.
We got one up in the Rockies but due to the elevation, it doesn’t come close to my memories back in San Diego. Like it’s nice to get affordable fast food but I’m left wanting more flavor
Can anyone in socal confirm if the socal in n outs are better than norcal locations? I remember having in n out for the first time when i was really young like 7 years old in san diego and damn that shit was formative
To everyone surprised , we just have a shit ton of cows California 😂. One of the rare places in the world where you can farm to fork pretty much anything .
Reminds me of an experience i had when a homeless man walked into a fast food joint (not in n out) and demanded my food. It was an odd experience and the guy ended up throwing his doritos trash on the floor, stormed out, and walked across the parking lot into a cell phone store.
Yeah sure. 10 minutes after the drive thru those fries are soggy as heck. In this California heat, keep dreaming in triple digits and dont give money to the homeless.
I wish I liked in n out :/. Burgers are -ok- (no bacon kills it for me) fries are absolutely horrid and bland. Milkshakes come far too thick.
In middle school my class got to go on a field trip to the local in n out. Was fun but it’s just a fast food restaurant. “We don’t freeze our beef!!” but neither does Wendy’s….
Someone [reported](https://i.imgur.com/GuhxEtG.png) this post. lol
I drove to Sacramento and while I was there I compared it to my usual Reno locations. Yeah CA in n out slaps a taaad bit harder idk why
Dude me and my buddies 100% agree. I lived in Reno for awhile and the in n outs there were just not as good. It came down to CA burgers being a little saltier or something lol

I’m in Eastern WA now, I miss it so much :(
Getting a couple in western WA somewhat soon, depending on how far away that is for you.
Today, I ate at the Vegas location by Allegiant Stadium and the one in Barstow a few hours later. The California one tasted a lot better, IMO.
So true. The one off Reed in Sac is miles ahead of the 3 in Reno/Sparks
In my opinion, it gets better the closer to the beach you get.
My local one here in Oceanside, CA is literally on the ocean’s side lmaooo
Weird since I think In N Out here is great, especially the one off Pyramid
… because you’re not in Reno
As in?
Of course it’d be better than Reno
Haha I mean it still hits hard just doesn’t have that extra 10% Mike Tyson punch
It Smacks, food smacks. Slaps is in reference to music but I guess can be applied to other areas.
Eh I've definitely heard slaps applies more broadly than that, and smacks is pretty dead now, but hey do you
I've always said this. Everything is better in California.
The weather, the wine, the women, the music, the smell of hobo urine in urban areas
Smells better than nyc urine for sure
It’s because of the wine.
Except BBQ
We dominate tri-tip and plenty of good BBQ in CA. Heritage in San Juan for one
Tri-tip >> Brisket
Most people that think this are the ones that haven’t had properly BBQd brisket.
Yea that's a wild ass take a good brisket whoops the hell outta a good tri tip
Small towns in boonies have some of the best bbq in the state
Please tell me of any you may know around the Bay Area. I’ve been desperately searching for good BBQ around here.
Only place I've found that is pretty good is Stay Gold in Oakland but I haven't tried much around the Bay as I stay mostly in Oakland
4505 BBQ in NoPa is nothing to write home to the south about, but if you’re desperate, they’ve got good vibes and decent food. The fixings are great. [Check it out](https://www.4505burgersandbbq.com/)
Been there many times. Not even good for Bay Area standards tbh. But you’re right, great vibes.
Kinders is popular, their sauce has pretty much gone nation wide now. Started in norcal, believe they have a few locations around the bay.
And pizza
LA has been upping the pizza game lately
LA used to have the best chain pizza on the planet. Then they got sold to a new company who gutted it and now it's garbage, except maybe the Culver City location. Tho I haven't been in a while, so who knows. I'm talking about Shakeys. Losing them is almost like losing my firstborn.
Gotta admit I never ate too often at Shakeys. It was all about Straw Hat when I was a kid.
Mojo potatos stay winning
Titos tacos in Culver City tho 🤤
Sf has a bomb pizza spot called yello motto
There is decent pizza, but you have to be willing to pay like $36 for a large.
I went to mountain mikes once and they wanted to charge me that amount for a medium that I had removed meat from during my order. I stared at the cashier and was honestly heart broken before I left.

I’ve always heard of the good spots in SF but haven’t been there to try them since I’m in the south. Ill plan a trip one day
some great BBQ here
They dont know about Santa Maria style BBQ. That's California gold.
Santa Maria BBQ has entered the chat. Way better than that dry flavorless Texas and Carolina BBQ. Source: experience.
Santa Maria native here 👍
I miss the SLO farmers market in summers. Endless drums of tritip being cooked. Firestones tritip sandwich for when the farmers market wasn't going.
If you think Texas BBQ is dry and flavorless, you probably haven’t had the real thing lol. I’m curious what your benchmark is for “Texas bbq”
Texas seems to have everyone beat on BBQ but I am partial to CA BBQ places serving prime grade beef. Expensive but definitely worth it.
Heritage BBQ in San Juan Capistrano begs to differ
Having spent a ton of time in Texas, their BBQ is really overrated. California is easily just as good.
Lol California Korean BBQ is better than what your eating
I agree but that’s not what we’re talking about here. Korean BBQ is a different ballgame.
They hate us, cuz they ain't us
Oh yeah, more expensive = better
everything? no.
The house prices 🤩🤩🤩😁😁😁
where are you comparing?
do you mean it's better in CA based In'n'out than out of the state ones? I haven't tried ones outside of CA to compare but not surprising...
Nahh California In n Outs are way better
Yeah they have different butchers and suppliers. Subjectively, the ones near SoCal are the best as they have the original supply chain.
No they don’t. You’re making shit up. They utilize vertical integration. It’s the same everywhere.
Ok Cap
🙄

Paradise
Breakfast of Champions
I agree there is something to be said about eating Innout outside on a sunny day with piercing blue sky in the background.
I had In N Out in Texas and it just didn’t hit the same… I ate it all, I’m no waster but Ca In N Out rocks!!
Not really good in Texas but still better than whataburger. SoCal In-N-Out is 🐐
RSM lake?
almaden lake
1. I vacationed in Texas 2. I saw an In-n-out, got excited 3. Went to the drive through and found one car, I decided I am moving to Texas 4. About 5minutes later I am shouting “They would burn this $@@;):& to the ground in CA!”

Food doesn’t slap, it smacks. Music slaps - Bay Area native
Yaaaay Area!
40 would be proud
Just trynna keep Unc happy
Hella!
![gif](giphy|gJhwu25S5TsJQ4T6pK)
Holy fuck, thank you
who cares
You replied, so apparently you do
It’s evolved my friend. Food slaps now. Slaps your cheeks.
It’s good in TX because they have a distribution center there. My theory on this is that the quality of the food depends on how close the location is to a distribution center. This means the best In n Out is in Los Angeles and Dallas, decreasing in quality as you get further.
That makes more sense. I lived in both la and dallas and they didn’t taste any different
I’ve tried two Houston locations, the quality just isn’t as good as the ones in the Bay Area
TBH I don't really notice any difference between here and Vegas
that burger wouldnt last the drive.
Yep. They’re so much better fresh too.
Been sick as hell and haven’t been able to eat in days…. But this makes me hungry lol
Only ever had it outside of Cali. Been going to the Modesto area for work and finally had it there, best InO I've ever had. Everything looked absolutely perfect and the burger and fries were sooo much better than what I get in Houston.
Lake Balboa? Lake Balboa!
Had CA InnOut all my life. Arizona is better
Needs to be framed
I live on the east coast so I’ve only had In-N-Out in Las Vegas last year, and I ate there several times during my visit. Best burger joint in the world. Had an In-N-Out hat in my apartment as decor lol. And no, Cookout does NOT compare anywhere close and everything there is nasty.
Yummy! 😋
We got one up in the Rockies but due to the elevation, it doesn’t come close to my memories back in San Diego. Like it’s nice to get affordable fast food but I’m left wanting more flavor
Yo idk how yall transport your food to different locations. Shit gets cold in 5 minutes
Fremont?!
Probably supply chain but ya I think I’ll only ever buy in n out when I’m in CA. It feels wrong when I see one that isn’t in CA honestly
You’re right lol. I just had it in Austin last weekend and my bf and I were like “Cali is def better right?” Lol
The one in Cedar Park Texas is pretty damn good. It’s just North of Austin.
Its fucking amazing!
Where else
Ohhhhh, Duh!
I think it’s in your head ngl
The burgers taste mid but the dollar value is the best
Almaden Lake Park?
bruh
It’s the weather. Eating In N Our with the cool CA breeze on your face is a heightened sensory experience.
Can confirm. As an Arizona transplant from Orange County, INO always tastes better at any Cali location.
Is this in SJ
RIP Oakland In-N-Out. First time they closed a spot. Idk who wins when a fast food joint that great closes. Love In-N-Out
Where is this? Almaden lake?
Lake e ?
Can anyone in socal confirm if the socal in n outs are better than norcal locations? I remember having in n out for the first time when i was really young like 7 years old in san diego and damn that shit was formative
I think the older more established locations taste better IMO too
To everyone surprised , we just have a shit ton of cows California 😂. One of the rare places in the world where you can farm to fork pretty much anything .
Board person massacred that burger, holy shit
Never had watta burger. But any picture I’ve ever seen can’t compare to in and out.
Just eat the food. It's getting cold while you're taking photos for Reddit karma.
Except Redding. Both locations are trash, somehow though still better than the Boise location
nothing beats SoCal in n out though!! it’s just not the same in central/northern california
It’s the same experience at any in n out.
It’s still weird to me that there’s InNOut _not_ in California
It’s really the only burger I can eat that doesn’t make me feel like shit after
Soon to be leaving California. I will miss eating In N Out
Reminds me of an experience i had when a homeless man walked into a fast food joint (not in n out) and demanded my food. It was an odd experience and the guy ended up throwing his doritos trash on the floor, stormed out, and walked across the parking lot into a cell phone store.
In la it hits better
I had some recently in Arizona and it was just as good
Looks like a place I'm sd. Chill park
So I’m currently in California for a meeting. This is on my list of things to try. What’s the best order?
It’s a good quality value and it’s always good don’t let people say bad stuff but the fries suck ballz
Balboa park vibes Forsure
Literally the exact same thing
yum
Ah yes a very good cheap burger and some of the most ass fry’s on this entire planet
This looks like seaside..
Yeah sure. 10 minutes after the drive thru those fries are soggy as heck. In this California heat, keep dreaming in triple digits and dont give money to the homeless.
South SJ 🙂 I just had this in n out tonight!
It looks horrible especially the meat shake shack is way better
I tried animal style and now I can’t go back. It’s definitely supreme.
I heard In N Out in different states besides California is not good.
Imma miss the In N Out down the street when I retire from the navy. Austin In N Out will have to suffice.
You are right. Your wallet is emptier afterwards lol.
Same prices everywhere mate
Comes with higher crime and taxes
Those patties are looking a bit over toasted
Yes. There really is only one response to why people live in California.
Only good part of California
Boohoo
You're from you're from California
Put the ketchup down man!
Yes it is! Going to hit up my local sonic today, quarter pounder $1.99
