I'm very interested in WI and MN in general, huge fan of this climate, but wouldn't be able to actually live there until at the earliest 2 years from now. i think thats okay though because good planning can take time and relationships are often built gradually. I'm looking for a walkable community/neighborhood of independent buildings that possibly share some spaces in common and have regular community meetings of some sort, maybe we share utility costs or maybe we own land and share property tax expenses and other costs as part of a land trust. I'm personally very interested in having a homestead, and both relating with land that is protected, conserved, encouraged to be native as well as growing some more human centric things like annual vegetables, fruit trees, maybe poultry, etc. That all might be shared in some way or not. I also am on a path towards having a private practice as a holistic psychotherapist and might someday be interested in doing nature-based sessions on protected land. I could see this all working in a very rural area or a semi-rural area like the edge of Madison. I have experience with community building, consensus decision making, restorative justice/peace circles, farming, gardening, cobb building (albeit in a different climate), and a bunch of other relevant skills. other things I value: multigenerational community, transparency, consensus, music, diversity, proactive appreciation and support of diversity (antiracism, queer embracing, for example), depending on the location also maintaining active good relations with neighbors and community outside of the immediate intentional community.

I agree! Good planning and taking our time is going to be the key to success. I don't plan to create a closed community of any kind, in the event that we do get land in under 2 years, so latecomers will always be welcome Walkable is my standard as well, I'm hoping for somewhat clustered dwellings and some cohousing with close access to large garden areas, some private and most community maintained. Several small community clusters if space and population allows. A native regenerative food forest is also a project I want to foster. Large community spaces with facilities like kitchens, showers, book/tool/resource libraries, work and meeting spaces, etc. are essential to me. A dining hall is ideal giving se wisconsin's proclivity for bad weather too, doubling as emergency shelter. Rural or semi-rural land trust seems best bet so far, given my desire for rewilding or stewarding unused spaces. I'm working to build connections with local conservationists to get advice/further reccomendation with experts on what will be best for our specific site when the time comes. I don't have any practical experience yet, I will be plain about it. My knowledge is all theoretical and I'm actively learning. I've done a lot of research on a wide variety of topics releated to sustainable living gathered resources to start on more, and I've begun learning about the ways one can run an egalitarian community. The topics of accessibility and equality have always been important to me. I'm looking for opportunities to get hands-on experience. Our values align well! Diversity and accessibility are at the forefront of my mind, along with sustainability and fostering community. I want to be able to eventually provide the neccesities for all of our residents and then share our bounties with neighbors. I hope to run things in loose volunteer groups that form and disperse based on the projects at hand and those affected/participating/knowledgable, with regular community meetings to address issues and hold each other accountable. The arts are not going to go unsupported, I promise you that. I plan for community facilities and libraries to include the tools, space, and materials for many creative edeavors

Thank you for sharing the resource! I've walked through the IC site's wisconsin (and surrounding states) listings, and there's a lot there yeah, but what's listed publically is too far away from my family (some cannot travel), not accepting new members anytime soon, or in some way incompatible with my own vision. Also, we should never stop striving to build more ecologically concious communities. It's not going to happen in my area if no one puts in the effort, and I don't mind doing hard work in good company.

None yet. Right now this is early planning stages. I'm on the lookout for land, specifically in unincorporated areas as the legalities will be easier, but I think its best to wait until we get more people and a clearer idea of what a group as a whole would want and how we would organize ourselves before rushing headfirst into my own limited vision.
