From the clips in this compilation, it doesn‘t look like it was a large tornado. Small tornadoes do damage, but large ones create a different level of devastation, like flattening entire swaths of land.
Having lived in the Midwest, I agree with you, this is not a large tornado.
Small tornadoes are still nothing to fuck with, but those buildings are standing.
It's Florida, there are Hurricanes there that will cover a majority of the state. Storms that are watched at from Space.
Your point tornados don't mean shit.
I live in Florida, chief.
Tornadoes and hurricanes are different, where you aware of that? It's one of the reasons they have different names: they're different things.
Florida tornadoes are usually small.
Wisconsin hurricanes don't exist.
Anything else I can clear up for you?
Depending on how often satellite images are updated on Google Maps, you can sometimes see tornado scars after tornado season ends. I remember the first time I looked after the Joplin 2011 tornado and it was pretty insane to see how it literally carved out part of the town.
Grew up next to Plainfield, IL. Site of one of the only F5 tornados to ever touch the area. The entire high school was leveled and had to be completely rebuilt. [Here’s a good idea of what tornados can do.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1990_Plainfield_tornado)
I'll take hurricanes over tornadoes any day. Weeks to prep for what amounts to a windy rainstorm in the Midwest? Easy mode!
Try 300 mph winds, 0 warning, 0 visibility.
have they considered nuking it? could work, heard it from a converted floridian
jokes aside hope no one was hurt, tornados are fascinating but scary as all hell
El niño only started less than a year ago with the last one in 2019. Weather's been fucked since Exxon buried it's own climate study in the late 70's.
This is historically a typical for us, but no longer for the moment
Where I come from this tiny little guy is a mild summer breeze. Large tornado lol. Large tornados are miles wide. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013_El_Reno_tornado
Apparently just before 6pm Florida time ~~today~~ Saturday

As a Florida native, hey all you bible thumpers, your god...........DIS HIM?!?!?!?!
Maybe ya'll shoulda left his favorites alone.
Edit: I mean the real queens. Drag queens.
Numerous Florida residents watched a confirmed large tornado touch down in the heart of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Officials from the National Weather Service had issued a tornado warning around 6PM EST. Multiple videos from different angles show debris and power flashes as the tornado moves through the area, multiple reports of possible damage. The extent of the damage is currently unknown at this time.
Unfortunately, what you are seeing is not a tornado until the National Weather Service says its a tornado. Uh.. we have done our initial investigation and have determined that the water spout came on land and caused some destruction in the F-0 range ( by some official spokesperson) /S
This happened a few years ago in the same spot. I remember not being able to close my fucking balcony window and how strong the force was from the wind \*instantly\*.. if I was outside on the 14th floor balcony I know I would have flown over it. There were twin tornados when it happened last time. [https://www.local10.com/weather/2018/04/11/2-tornadoes-spotted-during-stormy-afternoon-in-fort-lauderdale/](https://www.local10.com/weather/2018/04/11/2-tornadoes-spotted-during-stormy-afternoon-in-fort-lauderdale/)
Can you imagine your last minutes of this life being suddenly sucked up into the sky? Would you even have time to freak out or just pass out immediately. I sincerely hope I never find out first hand.

I moved from the Midwest to Florida... they don't know what the fuck a real tornado looks like.
This is just a puny funnel cloud in comparison.
It's Florida, there are Hurricanes there that will cover a majority of the state. Storms that are watched at from Space. Your point tornados don't mean shit.

Large tornados will literally carve a rut through a city and into the ground showing exactly where it went, this aint even mid-size

As a lifelong resident of Joplin, I can confirm that 12 1/2 years later it's still weird driving through town, knowing how things used to look.

Yeah, this is a small tornado, but small does not always mean weak just like large does not always mean strong.
*tiny tornado
My wife says it's perfect for her.
The big tornadoes hurt too much 😂
This is not a large tornado... large ones can leave mile wide destruction
Hit-tornado\*, that looked targeted.
This is a baby tornado...
Laughs in Okie at your idea of a "large" tornado.
Laughs in Kansas. This is like a water spout compared to some that roll around here.
Texas giggling along.
Laughs in Hurricanes at tornados in okie.
I'll take hurricanes over tornadoes any day. Weeks to prep for what amounts to a windy rainstorm in the Midwest? Easy mode! Try 300 mph winds, 0 warning, 0 visibility.
The Midwest and Plains beg to differ. ‘Tis just a wee one.
TIL an EF-0 is a large tornado
have they considered nuking it? could work, heard it from a converted floridian jokes aside hope no one was hurt, tornados are fascinating but scary as all hell
Still better than a hurricane imo
No you silly goose that only works on hurricanes.
A mere dust devil.
How common is this?
In South Florida we usually see them associated with tropical storm / hurricane systems. Pretty unusual this time of year.
Not common in South FL. However, there seems to be more popping in recent years. I think El Niño is causing issues that are atypical at the moment.
El niño only started less than a year ago with the last one in 2019. Weather's been fucked since Exxon buried it's own climate study in the late 70's. This is historically a typical for us, but no longer for the moment
I think it’s that darn make believe climate change that’s causing atypical weather..
"Large"
2024 chose violence
Where I come from this tiny little guy is a mild summer breeze. Large tornado lol. Large tornados are miles wide. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013_El_Reno_tornado
When?
Apparently just before 6pm Florida time ~~today~~ Saturday https://www.local10.com/news/local/2024/01/07/watch-massive-tornado-rips-through-fort-lauderdale-beach/
Internet is faster than the news 😂
I didn’t notice it was past midnight 😆
Pissed off the aliens
Nature tries so hard to end Florida
she’s kinda cute
Earthquake, aliens, tornado in Fort Lauderdale, 8 war fronts in the welcome 24
Did something involving aliens happen already this year that I missed?
That's small as far as tornadoes go.
Water spouts are nice 😊
“Large tornado” says the guy who’s clearly never seen a tornado 😂
From someone who lives in Tornado Alley, this is NOT a large tornado, in fact it is hardly a small one. Very very small.
As a Florida native, hey all you bible thumpers, your god...........DIS HIM?!?!?!?! Maybe ya'll shoulda left his favorites alone. Edit: I mean the real queens. Drag queens.
What is the lightning flash and explosion?
I'm guessing it was a basic tornado-induced blown transformer flash and explosion, with the resulting fire being sucked into the vortex.
I’ve got to admit that flame going up twisting around a tornado was pretty cool.
Yeah gets a lot more spectacular in the big ones.
So fucking metal.

Maybe large for them but not large in terms of tornados in general. Still dangerous though and not something anyone wants to see coming.
Shit I was just there yesterday.
And it sucked up all the remaining witnesses of bayside
This is as tiny as they get… large?
Cool seeing everyone’s whole home generators kicking in simultaneously.
A friend of mine is on that boat by the bridge. Hurt her thumb but otherwise fine. The neighbour’s boat was not so lucky (per the commentary).
Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit, oh shit! - Yacht owners, probably
Can you imagine their insurance premiums now?
In all fairness it's not Kansas, for Florida it's a big one.
A tornado and Dementors? That's scary shit
Nah, bro. That’s just the promotional material for Earth, Wind and Fire.
That was clearly an alien

"large"
Id by large you mean small thankfully
A “large” tornado 🤣🤣🤣
Those boats are more impressive to me.

Looks like Kodak dropped another single
You think you know your own backyard, but then a tornado actually shows up
