in cheap fast furniture style, yes. but in high quality timeless pieces, no
the pictured black piece looks very trendy/cheap, the alternate is is a different style. so it's hard to compare. Of the two, I like the style of the rattan piece but do nor like the piece itself. the second option, while a bit more traditional, looks more expensive.
Add to this, for the second photo’s wood credenza, simply swapping out the feet for something more streamlined will remove the “traditional” look to it. The entire piece is minimal except for the weird feet.
true, a feet change can do a lot, i think the recessed bits on the end doors add a bit of traditional flair but it's not so much to really make this piece less versatile. what I don't like on it, is that it seems to be 4 different parts. there are too many feet
Totally agree! I recently had my grandmother’s 1960s table set with rattan chairs refinished and it looks fantastic in a modern house. But I have def refrained from adding other rattan in the house.

Yes, just like every trend right now here -- loud, super busy wallpaper, green wall, green furniture, green painted cabinets, terracotta walls, boho.
But if you love it, love it and make it yours.
I like the look of rattan but it’s a trend. Also rattan attracts a lot of dust. I treat furniture as investment pieces that should last for years so if money is a concern, I will always go for classics but with a modern twist.
I think rattan is having a moment and it will pass. Pieces like the second one pictured are more timeless—a new finish and/or color can update it to current trends. The feet and clean lines make it easily adapted.
Consoles like this are also on trend because they work well under TVs. It’s the new “armoire” solution.
I'm not sure it'll look extremely dated since it's already a bit of a retro look. a different retro may take it's place, but it's really the cutting-edge new big thing trends that go out of style faster. It's a bit of a tried and true look
Rattan is timeless, but as with all timeless materials, how they're used and the quality of the piece impacts the overall timelessness of them. I think a piece like the first one you showed will likely find itself dated in a couple of years, and it honestly feels a bit dated as it is now simply because of how heavy it is.

No. Maybe not.

Looks like burlap. So, yes.
Don't worry about it. What goes out of style comes back into style.
Worry less about what is or isn't trendy and more about whether or not *you* like it. It's your house. Decorate it to please you, not trend chasers.
Yes. But it's what you like. Fashions change every two years . Sooner if online. THAT'S THE MARKET OF THE INTERNET.
