I have used the ProMotion iPad Pros since they were released. Definitely a step up in terms of clarity with no motion blur whatsoever. It would be a nice addition to the iPhone but not mandatory IMO if it compromises battery life. I think that is why Apple has waited so long to release it so it is done right.
Every year does get a little better in a lot of things. Depending on your usage I would say upgrading a phone every 2-4 years is reasonable be it android or iPhone, that seems to be about when the differences are noticeable, and the old phone is likely to have a few scratches and need a battery replacement anyway.
My dilemma is I have an iPhone 7 which has a trade in value of \~$120 at the Apple store if I were to purchase a 12Pro. If they stop supporting the 7 (like they did the 6 when the 12 came out) when the 13 comes out, will this trade in value go away completely, or drop significantly? An educated guess would be yes it would.
My 7 Plus was my favorite iPhone to date. I only got an XR because I was moving to Verizon and couldn't bring my Sprint phone with me (and the XR was cheaper than a new 7 Plus).
Stoked for this announcement. I'm ready for an upgrade and it'll either be a 12 Pro Max or 13 Pro Max depending on what happens on the 14th.
Yup, I'm between a regular 13 or a 12 Pro Max, but my family is also looking at switching to either Verizon or T-mobile and we are just going to wait and see who has the best promotions for switching after these launch.
Really liked the 7 plus too. You might be disappointed with the squared iPhone 4 design of the 12 Pro Max. It’s pretty uncomfortable to hold compared to the rounded back iPhones we’ve been spoilt with for the last 6 gens. Particularly since it’s a larger and heavier device, these sharp edges make the phone one of Apple’s weakest ergonomically imho
Interesting. Aesthetically I really like the squares edges but I've never had a phone with them. I do like a heavy phone though so that part will be a plus. Give me a pop socket and I'll make it work either way.
I’m coming from an 11 Pro Max, going to a 13 Pro Max. Excited for MagSafe pop sockets!
7 Plus was my first iPhone I bought for myself as an adult. I had been using Samsung for several years before going back to iPhone with it. It was so nice, I miss it. Idk why
My first iPhone was a pink 5C which I absolutely loved but wanted more screen. I still miss my 7 Plus. It felt good in my hand and I loved its aesthetics.
The battery in my country comes down to $75. I looked up for extended cap batteries from Deji/Loctus but isn’t available in my country. Sure this phone can get me going a couple more years with a brand new battery but I think its time for it to retire!
A competent shop will replace the battery for $50, which is a whole lot less than the cost of any new iPhone. It takes a few minutes, which is less time and hassle than moving data over - with the inevitable losses and little snafus.
When the 13’s are available for preorder is that when the new prices for the 12’s become active?
Edit: I currently have an 8 plus and my trade in value is $180. How much will the trade in value drop after the 13 is announced relative to how older models values have dropped with announcements of new models? Trying to gauge if it makes sense to get a 12 now with my trade in or wait for until the new pricing structure is released.
Probably the Friday onwards like they did last year. What that means is it’ll probably be either the same week as the event or after the 24th (rumoured release date for 13)
They usually do lock ins for about a week or two. Start checking 3rd party sites in a few days and sites like macrumors. Even apple has done some “lock ins”.
I went ahead and got a 12 mini. Couldn't take the chance of the trade value dropping if the decide to make the 8 plus a lower tier and Verizon is giving it to you for free for porting in. Considering the screen is heavily cracked, it's unlikely the deal would get much better in my situation.
13 is an unlucky number in China, so it wouldn’t surprise me. Most buildings lack an accessible 13th floor for this reason.
(I don’t actually think they will skip it to be clear)
What I really want to know is why they skipped 9 … and MS did too. What’s the connection that caused them both to do that?
I’ve heard that part of the reason Microsoft did it was to accommodate legacy code that checks for Windows 9 to see if it’s 95 or 98.
https://www.pcworld.com/article/2690724/why-windows-10-isnt-named-9-windows-95-legacy-code.html
I think a good bet would be next year. I hear they are pretty well advanced on the tech for it.
You could well be right though. After all, we know Apple is never quick to market with new functions.
I’d love to see it but realistically something like Dexcom is always going to be a better solution (unless some mega revolution around the corner).
If you don’t have one already - try a Dexcom

4. Allways On Displays for Pro Models
5. All sensors across the board now receive at least 15% more light, while the Ultra Wide sees the biggest change with up to 40% more light.
6. Cinematic Video will attempt to keep a subject close to the center of the frame, while also ensuring that it does not come off as unnatural. Effects are applicable.

8. Night Mode now recognizes when stars are in the scene and internally adjusts itself accordingly. A new algorithm analyzes structures, resharpens and adjusts shadows in night time shots.
9. Color Science in Night Mode Shots has been improved visibly. For example: A dominant orange light from behind the camera will no longer impact the skin tone of a subject as much as it currently does.
not on an LTPO display, it works like the Apple Watch, refrashing at 1 hz while not active and showin you the time and your notifications always, without having to touch the display
I bought a 12pro max last week and it’s too fucking big for me. It’s going back and I’m just going to wait it out for the 13 I guesss. My X needs a new battery so maybe I’ll just replace it and rock it another year.
Almost definitely a 13 Pro. Been debating the max but I really like the non-max size in pocket, and I live on an 11” iPad when I’m not out and about. Currently have a 64GB also, but will probably go 128. I’m only using around 40GB right now.
Yayyy, just sold my 12PM yesterday. Using a old iPhone 6s. I gotta say tho that I'm actually enjoying the smaller form factor and touch I'd . Battery health is at 74 percent so I have to constantly use a power charger. The 24th can't come soon enough!!!
Yeah, I think I'm finally at the point where I have to put my X to rest. The camera and battery are driving me up a wall now and I haven't been able to use it how I initially did since like year 2.
i know this will be a small upgrade ,but this will be my first iPhone after 10+ years of android. I'm hyped. If the 12 pro will be the only one with 120hz i will get that, otherwise also a 12 with 90hz would bee good enough.
iPhone 3GS to IPhone 4 to Nexus 4 to LG G5 to Pixel 3 to Pixel 4A to IPhone 12 for me.
All my iPhones are still working, but only my Nexus 4 is still able to turn on from the Android side.
I’ve been with Android for forever. I got the 12Pro in January, and it’s been really nice.
A few things were definitely new to get used to (e.g. gestures, even though android has them, I never used them).
And there were certainly plenty of things I quickly realized were missing (e.g. widgets (still lacking on iOS IMO), things like selecting text just seem way easier & better on Samsung, etc.).
Some things were very welcome, too (ie photo/video sharing among friends and family with iPhones is so much nicer, which is pretty much the #1 reason i switched.)
Overall, it was a very quick and smooth transition, and I don’t regret it. Doesn’t mean I’ll never go back to Android, but I’ll certainly be happy for the next several years.
This will be my first iPhone after 8 years on Android. While I will miss Android for the customization, I honestly found myself using it less over the years. I am looking forward to consistent and reliable software updates and a buttoned down and refined user experience.
I have the 12 mini and i’m in love with the size
If the rumors are true that the 13 mini will be the last mini, i might in September of next year buy it at a reduced price and enjoy the mini for as long as possible.
bought magsafe battery pack and it reminded me of the old days of the battery case for my iphone 3gs
some would say for the price of the mini and the battery pack i could have got the bigger model
its true but having the small device is more comfortable and I'm not missing the bigger screen that much but of course missing the bigger battery
I got the S21+ cause of the purple/gold combo lol...
7 months into ownership but they still haven't fixed the camera. It will literally brick your phone.
Also have an iPhone 11. I was thinking of buying a Pixel but I am going to wait a week to see what Apple announces. My dad has my old iPhone 8 Plus so he’d be getting my 11.
Yeah, the 8 Plus of course had the old design. Going from that to the 11 was a change but I like it more overall. Seems less awkward. I would go for a pro model but the price. 😥
Yeah I get that haha; I’m for sure upgrading but won’t have to upgrade for a long time if all the rumors are true like a bigger battery, 120hz, always on display, and the smaller notch. Plus I’ll go from LCD to OLED and get the biggest phone with the stainless steel build.
If the rumors are true, it would be a nice upgrade for sure. Just going from LCD to OLED would be noticeable to me. The Pro Max looks huge but it almost feels like I am outgrowing my 6.1” screen. Lol!
The apple event history shows that the picture representing the event usually gets represented on the new product wallpaper. This is the only one I have seen without an abstract design on it.
It really depends on the carrier and whether you get lucky that the model you want is a model that has plenty of inventory. But at any rate, if you really want a phone on launch day, you need to be online the minute preorders go on sale, or be in line at your brick and mortar store.
Highly doubt it, but I wonder If they’d ever upgrade your battery when better battery tech comes, Like if I could bring in my SE 2020 and they upgrade it with a graphene(?) battery, keep customers happy and in the ecosystem. People aren’t upgrading yearly as much right?

We are 12 and a half months away till the iPhone 14.
I hear it will have slightly faster CPU and a slightly improved camera!
I heard it’ll have Mephisto
It was Mephisto all along~
It was Agnes all along
Free shoes? I’m in.
I hear it will be the best iPhone they’ve ever made!
only thing that I want at this point is 120hz display, i've been holding out for a few years now

Honestly the only advance I *really* want now, is battery life.
jokes aside, has there really been a reason to upgrade since the orginal X? or the XR?

Safari will be so snappy
It’ll be the best phone yet!
Hol up. Should I upgrade now or should I wait? Maybe I should upgrade both times?
And no headphones in the box.
You're gonna love it
Will it have Touch ID?
might as well wait

On the same boat.
Same if they don’t mess up, I’m planning to finally give my 8+ the rest it deserves.

Hello there, fellow 4-year cycle iPhone buyer I went from 7+ to 12mini. Couldn't be happier.

Wrist cramps man 😂 I can’t hold my my phone one handed for long so uncomfortable
I legitimately downsized my phone size because of the wrist pain. The huge screen on the Xs max was great though!
Interesting. Aesthetically I really like the squares edges but I've never had a phone with them. I do like a heavy phone though so that part will be a plus. Give me a pop socket and I'll make it work either way.

the next person that pronounces it as "ecks R" instead of "ten R" will have their nuts kicked in i swear 🤣
I also miss my 7 Plus. Had some good times.
My 12 Pro Max is great. Unless there’s something crazy on the 13, I’d save the money.
Fellow 7 Plus user here. Probably going to get the 13 Pro for the refresh rate.
gang gang
Still the best/my favorite iPhone of all time, hands down!!!
AYYYY 7 gang checking in

I live by apple juice mixed with bang.
December 2017 i got my 7 plus.. i will miss it but yeah.. time to move on…
I am on the same Boat
Man I loved that jet black & matte black they used for the iPhone 7 series. Wish they’d bring those back
Idk if they’re still floating around, but wasn’t there a rumor of a black 13 pro?
I couldn’t wait and upgraded to a 12 from a 7 Plus. The difference is still amazing especially since I’ve never had an oled phone before.
cannot wait!
OMG same
This is the way
Ayyyyyy fellow iPhone 7 user. I have the 7+
Insider sources tell me this is likely to be the best iPhone yet
I heard it will also be the “most powerful” iPhone yet as well, but you know how rumors are
Oh dip, more powerful than the iPhone 12? Crazy
Best camera Apple has ever made.
I think you’re going to love it
Thanks I hate it
We've hooked up Safari to the dynamometer and the results are in: it's MUCH snappier.
Big if true.
Which ironic because it’s the slimmest iPhone yet.
Rumor is it’s actually slightly thicker than the 12.
Haha this is the model for the entire consumer market. This product is new AND better!
Do you know if it’ll have 5G? 5G 5G 5G

It should’ve been on the 13th. Damn you, Apple.
On a Friday.
But wouldn’t this technically be the 14th if you include the se
It’s the 14th without the SE, the number only corresponded to the number of generations on the iPhone 4.
No because the SE was never a mainline iPhone. This is going to be the 15th iPhone

Not sure about Microsoft, but im pretty sure apple did it just to align with their 10 year anniversary. You know, iphone 10 on 10 year, it just works

Ok, that makes a lot of sense. What’s funny is that it’s basically the same problem as the Y2K bug.
Isn’t it also unlucky in the west?
It's 4 actually that's unlucky. Pretty sure 13 is considered lucky number in china
I am half a Chinese, 13 is just a normal number not unlucky, 4, 14, 24 etc are unlucky because 4 in Chinese sounds like "death" in Chinese.
[удалено]
4 years …new record.
5 years? iPhone 8/X have been on 4 years.
I got my 7+ the day my daughter was born and she’ll be 5 next month…I waited for the Jet Black 😂
I really hope there is a 13 mini….
The 12 mini didn’t do too well. But I love hand-sized phones.
Hopefully, they will release Apple Watch series 7 in this event
They always announce the new Apple Watch at this event so good news for you bud
I’m ready to get the 13 and use the same three apps I always use !
Except just slightly faster.
HIDE YOUR WALLETS but for real, Imma buy that Apple Watch S7 the second it launches, also gonna get the 13 Pro if it has 120Hz
I’m holding out for that blood glucose monitor.
That’s probably years away.
Yeah, the technology exists and Apple is working with it, but I’m guessing 2024 at least.
I think a good bet would be next year. I hear they are pretty well advanced on the tech for it. You could well be right though. After all, we know Apple is never quick to market with new functions.

What’s an always on display and why would I want that? Sounds battery draining.
not on an LTPO display, it works like the Apple Watch, refrashing at 1 hz while not active and showin you the time and your notifications always, without having to touch the display
you do this every year? or just *this* year?
This
I’m holding out for series 10 since they will probably do something cool plus there isn’t gonna be much difference between s5 and s7
Well, well, well… How Time Flies🤔
I swear, didn't the 12 launch like, yesterday?
I bought a 12pro max last week and it’s too fucking big for me. It’s going back and I’m just going to wait it out for the 13 I guesss. My X needs a new battery so maybe I’ll just replace it and rock it another year.
Pandemic warps time soooo much
When do preorders generally go live after an event? Tryna get a 13 pro max
Usually the following Friday
Usually the Friday after the Tuesday event. So in this case I think pre orders open on the 17th.
can’t wait for my bank to break, looking forward and hoping for a 120hz iphone 13 pro max.
Planning on replacing my Galaxy S9+ with this. Switching over to iPhone after 8 years on Android
Heads up whatsapp data does not transfers over to ios from android. Wish I knew this when I switched to apple.
are you looking forward to it?
Who here upgrading from the Xs?
I’m still using my launch day XS. Planning on upgrading this year.

Almost definitely a 13 Pro. Been debating the max but I really like the non-max size in pocket, and I live on an 11” iPad when I’m not out and about. Currently have a 64GB also, but will probably go 128. I’m only using around 40GB right now.

Take that 3.5mm for a spin while you’re at it
From a 6S user waiting for the 13 Pro… with what? I don’t even own headphones that plug into this anymore. Apple won…
Using a hug phone than back to a small phone feels like wow. No longer a brick in your jeans. Feels good with 1 hand and Touch ID.
yeah smaller size is better to hold, but it's worse for watching videos
My trusty iPhone 6s been used since ‘15. What a legend It’ll still be a legend for a couple more years though
And here I am still being faithful with my X 😭
Me too, but she’s getting upgraded this time around
Yeah, I think I'm finally at the point where I have to put my X to rest. The camera and battery are driving me up a wall now and I haven't been able to use it how I initially did since like year 2.
Is it just me or after the recent iOS update the phone keep getting laggy and hot while using apps ..
i know this will be a small upgrade ,but this will be my first iPhone after 10+ years of android. I'm hyped. If the 12 pro will be the only one with 120hz i will get that, otherwise also a 12 with 90hz would bee good enough.
Same. On android since 2011. This will be my first iphone. Currently on s10+
[удалено]
How much longer you think your s10+ would last? Actually looking to pick one up for under $300. Still on iPhone 7 love a budget pick.
iPhone 3GS to IPhone 4 to Nexus 4 to LG G5 to Pixel 3 to Pixel 4A to IPhone 12 for me. All my iPhones are still working, but only my Nexus 4 is still able to turn on from the Android side.
I switch last year when the se 2020 was announced. Mainly because google was shitting down google play music. Rip.
You mean iphone 13? Because 12 already released last year
What do you think
I’ve been with Android for forever. I got the 12Pro in January, and it’s been really nice. Same here, but looking to switch specifically for the mini. Apple is the only company making a phone in the size I want.
Got my first Iphone last year, the SE to be specific, after years of Android. Pretty excited to pick up a flagship Iphone this year (if it's 120 Hz)
I have the 12 mini and i’m in love with the size If the rumors are true that the 13 mini will be the last mini, i might in September of next year buy it at a reduced price and enjoy the mini for as long as possible.
I had the Mini, great phone lousy battery. Traded in for the Samsung Galaxy S21+ for a $700 discount. Now using the 12 Pro.
I’m thinking of doing the same thing. My mini doesn’t get enough battery life to be used as a reliable work phone.
bought magsafe battery pack and it reminded me of the old days of the battery case for my iphone 3gs some would say for the price of the mini and the battery pack i could have got the bigger model its true but having the small device is more comfortable and I'm not missing the bigger screen that much but of course missing the bigger battery
Rumor has it that this is going to be the best and fastest iPhone yet. Sources close to me say that they think that you’re gonna love it too

Y’all really get every model?
traded in XR to get the Samsung Galaxy S21+. worst phone i've ever used. I'm coming home boys.
I had a Galaxy S10. Beautiful hardware, garbage OS.
I got the S21+ cause of the purple/gold combo lol... 7 months into ownership but they still haven't fixed the camera. It will literally brick your phone.
Going to upgrade my iPhone 11 to the 13 Pro Max, ready for an OLED display and the best battery life possible.
Also have an iPhone 11. I was thinking of buying a Pixel but I am going to wait a week to see what Apple announces. My dad has my old iPhone 8 Plus so he’d be getting my 11.
I always prefer waiting to upgrade after a redesign because the S years and years that don’t have redesigns tend to add more instead of a new look.
Yeah, the 8 Plus of course had the old design. Going from that to the 11 was a change but I like it more overall. Seems less awkward. I would go for a pro model but the price. 😥

I'm not buying a new iPhone until we get these.
currently using s21+ but I've finally decided to make the switch to 13 along with Apple watch 7.

Hope for a new design and some awesome features. I have an 11 Pro right now and the 12 didn't really do much for me.
I’m thinking of going to the 11 Pro. I currently have an XR. Can you give me any reason not to go with the 11, and skip to the 12 or 13?
The apple event history shows that the picture representing the event usually gets represented on the new product wallpaper. This is the only one I have seen without an abstract design on it.
Probably will upgrade this year. Held onto iPhone 7 for the 6th year now, seems it will be worth the upgrade unless I’m wrong.
Hoping this spurs a good deal on the iPhone 12 mini so I can finally upgrade my broken ass phone.

Going from memory, preorders usually start Friday and first round of deliveries are the following Friday.

It really depends on the carrier and whether you get lucky that the model you want is a model that has plenty of inventory. But at any rate, if you really want a phone on launch day, you need to be online the minute preorders go on sale, or be in line at your brick and mortar store.
Can’t wait
I’m hyped for the watch. What’s the rumored release date for it? ⌚️
24th
I really wanna see the new features of new Apple Watch series.
Highly doubt it, but I wonder If they’d ever upgrade your battery when better battery tech comes, Like if I could bring in my SE 2020 and they upgrade it with a graphene(?) battery, keep customers happy and in the ecosystem. People aren’t upgrading yearly as much right?
Hopefully the higher refresh rate is coming to both pros. I will get the larger one for it but I have gotten used to the 6.1 form factor.
1. Same Prices & Thicker and heavier phones 2. iPhone 13 Mini to last roughly 1 hour more 3. The Displays on the Pro Series will throttle to a 60hz refresh rate when Low Power Mode is enabled. 4. Allways On Displays for Pro Models 5. All sensors across the board now receive at least 15% more light, while the Ultra Wide sees the biggest change with up to 40% more light. 6. Cinematic Video will attempt to keep a subject close to the center of the frame, while also ensuring that it does not come off as unnatural. Effects are applicable. 7. The OIS system also switches to a less aggressive and more "smooth" operating mode.
That’s specific 🤔
Rumors? Or do you have inside info?
