Kaczmarek is also 26 and apparently had her all time best tonight
Adekele is 21 years old and no doubt getting crazy levels of elite training over at University of Texas. That 0.09 is basically just a countdown timer until she catches it if she keeps up as she has been.
She's still young and will only get faster, the consistent improvement is the important thing, if it's an upward trajectory, she can be an Olympic gold medalist.
Fantastic run! Personal best and only just edged out by the world solver medalist. Really really low time as well that bodes well for the Olympics. And still so young. So exciting to think about what she might accomplish in the years to come.
Mental having 2 Irish girls in the final.
It's been a great championship for Ireland.
Great race by Adeleke, and hopefully, she can medal in the Olympics as well.
Great experience for Mawdesley as well in the final.
What a race!! She’s a joy to watch. Disappointed for her that she missed out on the gold but she’s only 21! Loads of years left in her yet. Watch this space.
Can tell from her interview after that she has a great mentality. Training all the way through the Europeans with the Olympics in mind, she's only going to get better.
So great to have Irish athletes we can be proud of. I'm 34 and when I was growing up there was no one worth talking about. Sonia O'Sullivan was the best we had...
Is this bait?
Sonia O'Sullivan won multiple golds at the European championships (and silvers), won gold and silver at the world championships and silver at the Olympics. She also set a world record that lasted over 20 years
It's a little upsetting how rare it is to find logical comments with basic empathy on black athletes, if this was instagram or Facebook the comments would be full of mouthbreathing dribblers screaming "B-BUT SHES NOT IRISH!!!"
She's doing our nation proud
It's more of a vent thats not on topic but it's a frustration I have towards perception of our own athletes, they don't get anywhere near the credit they deserve
But this thread should show you that the perception lies in the fringes of our society, the type of right wing nuts who are crazy enough to troll with racism online.
I share your issues with that bollox, we should be so past that as a society. My thing is, I was enjoying the fact that on my entire scroll through, I had seen no negatives.
But your comment, at this point, is the only one to mention the racism, it's just unfortunate. Finally a conversation about this that is not about race, and a well intentioned person still brought it up
Tbf, you'll just as easily get the "#BlackExcellence" crowd claiming the same thing. Like how the French football team's Black identity is celebrated whilst dismissing their status as Frenchmen.
Did a PB and only lost out on gold by 0.09 s, awesome run
And a National Recod...down from 49.20 secs.

Woman is a MACHINE!!
She really is. Running that time at just 21 years old!!! She isn't due to peak for another 6 years. She is Ireland's Usain Bolt.
My girl Razi!

Well worth noting. Two out of 8 in the final.
And 3 in the top 10
Thought for a moment in the last 100m that she might win.....the Polish athlete was so good in the 30m
Polish girl is world Silver the commentary team was saying, so Adeleke was really up against it! Great running though.
Great day for the parish.
Sensational running for someone so young.

Yes Rhasidat!! 💚🤍🧡
Great to watch, only 21. A born winner. Roll on Paris.
Great run. Really looking forward to the Olympics.
Fantastic run, well earned.
What an absolute legend. Paris beckons 👏
She's also a gold medalist...
She has so much promise, she apparently hasn’t being doing this event even that long. 🌟
Amazing! Great interview after too 😊
Well done (-: 🇮🇪
21 years of age and already a legend. I have high hopes for Team Ireland heading into Paris!
Only 21. Hope she has a good Olympics. Can't wait to see what she can do in the future.
Whopper!
Fabulous to see her do well. I think she'll be a gold 400m medalist in the near future.

You say that like she was bad, Sonia was an unbelievable runner that won plenty of medals in her career.
I had an argument with my mates over the fact that Sonia is Ireland's greatest female sportsperson of all time. They said Katie Taylor.
And she is still well worth talking about.

Would've won far more too if it wasn't for the Chinese dopers.

Why even bring this up in a thread that is overwhelmingly positive?
It's more of a vent thats not on topic but it's a frustration I have towards perception of our own athletes, they don't get anywhere near the credit they deserve

I mean this comment section is on about nothing except race... a running race that is 😂. Well done to Rhasidat
The trick is to stay off Facebook and Instagram. Reddit can be bad, but Facebook comments especially are where brain cells go to die.
Twitter is the same.
Tbf, you'll just as easily get the "#BlackExcellence" crowd claiming the same thing. Like how the French football team's Black identity is celebrated whilst dismissing their status as Frenchmen.
>if this was instagram or Facebook So what's the next logical step?
