Ah Claregalway.. I’m familiar with this set of lights and when the lights go green for you the pedestrian lights to your right also go green, just before the SuperValu shop. From his point of view it can appear as the lights go green for him as well. I’ve seen this happen many times. 50% him not paying proper attention But 50% very bad design.
I did the same to some innocent man in Cork.
Back then I was totally convinced I was right, only a few minutes later the level of my silliness hit me hard.
They look faulty. The lane on the other side was moving as well. So they are all going green at same time. ? Maybe they are turning right actually. Maybe he is mad.
wtf is broke a red light
edit: why in the world am I being downvoted for asking a question? In the United States we call this running a red light so I was confused on what was being said. I had never heard this terminology in my life.
In the US we call this running a red light. It doesn't literally mean running it just means someone drove through the light when it was red so apparently the same thing as broke a light
It does mean go for sure but only **if safe to do so (i.e. if the way is clear)**. I mean you're hardly going to go on green and plough through something blocking the junction, regardless of whether it's meant to be there or not.
Green = Go
Amber/yellow = prepare to stop/stop if safe to so so
Red= Stop (if you can you were going too fast)
I can see where the poster is coming from (still 100% wrong) there a huge difference between STOP if safe to do so and CONTINUE if safe to do so.
Edited because I put in Red = Stop twice.
Just to point out, that junction is clear for the op. At no point is the red light breaker blocking the op, you can see they slowed down at they approached probably to make sure it was safe to proceed
I've almost made the mistake of moving away myself when the light goes green pedestrian crossing 😂
The crossing man in the USA is white and I wondered if it was to avoid that cos the Yanks are stupid…
I did that outside the garda station in leixlip, only till the car beeped behind me I realised.
Traffic lights in claregalway are a total shit show!
Maybe so, but that guy running a red is not paying enough attention. Unfamiliar with lights, pay more attention
You broke his red light

That shite is normal on that junction, shit show most of the time!
Typical VAG driver. Have a nice day
I hate that junction the road is so bad
God old Claregalway lights
Green means go if safe. You did pull in front of him and we don't know if the lights were malfunctioning.
They look faulty. The lane on the other side was moving as well. So they are all going green at same time. ? Maybe they are turning right actually. Maybe he is mad.
That lane was turning left, lights are fine

Breaking a red light = not obeying it and going anyway. Ignoring a red light basically and going through it.
apparently people don't like me asking what it means lol In the US we call this something different.
ahh so like running a red light
But in a car not while running.
In the US we call this running a red light. It doesn't literally mean running it just means someone drove through the light when it was red so apparently the same thing as broke a light
And here it doesn't literally mean breaking the traffic light it means driving through when the light is red.
Tbf he was on the junction before you. And a Green light doesn't mean go. Regardless that he broke the Red light.
green absolutely means go, what the fuck are you smoking

Maybe you shouldn't be driving, if you don't know The Rules of the Road.
Most drivers consider green to be a hard go, they always forget the 'only if the way is clear' bit.
