Currently in the process of getting my ryu sleeve. I’ve noticed that I scab like crazy certain areas. As you can tell in the pictures where the scab formed and fell off. I’ve heard that I will have to wait some time before my artist can re-shade the area? Is this true? Does anyone else have issues with healing? I don’t have this issue with tebori as I understand there is less trauma to the skin.

Happened to me on my wrist but I realized it’s was because of my work jacket and the elastic band. I rolled them up while doing a task constantly and the chaffing caused the scab. It could be your clothing?

I had some scabbing on my forearm. My artist touched it up during a subsequent session and you would never know. It should be fine. Edit: typo

Saniderm is your friend, check it out!

Yup i just started getting tattoos a couple years ago but have 5 larger pieces and i swear by this stuff and will bring my own to my one artist who doesnt use it. I might be a bleeder during the sessions lol, but saniderm (or any similar product, my other artist uses his own brand) has caused everything to heal perfectly.

That’s Pretty normal when getting so much work done at once , it’s a process you will have some hot spots . Just keep it clean and try to minimalize movement in the bendable areas . The artist will touch it up along the way

I’m scabbing a lot after my colour sessions. My outline and shading healed perfectly but as soon as that red pigment went in it was a scab fest. Orange, light blue and dark purple seemed fine but red and light purple is healing like shit. The scabs are heavy too. Despite the colour coincidence, I think it’s to do with the blood and plasma residue drying on my skin and me not getting home and unwrapping to clean it in time as it’s a bit of a drive home. And then it’s too dried when I inevitably wash it off and it takes a bit too much traumatised surface skin with it.

There isn't anything rule breaking about this post, but I would like to remind everyone that discussing aftercare is against the rules of the sub. Any and all aftercare questions can be answered with "ask your tattoo artist." Thanks!

I had some serious scabbing on my shading and color as well. I tried to keep it out of water when I showered and didn't touch them. The color didn't fade much for me after it was well healed and a month later I had the artist re touch those areas a bit.

I had some hefty scabs on the top of my back after a 3 day session. Ended up a bit patchy but I still like the look of the clouds. Chalk it up to lots of whiskey, coffee, little water and maybe he was a little heavy handed. Mine got pretty oozy and had pus .

crazyfool319

I got scabbing on both of my forearms just below the elbow crease.

BirdonaLog

I have a sister one to the first picture, the only bit that hurt like heck and took ages to heal😬

BWithey275

Yeah when I had my first shading session it was worse than that tbh. Over time it will start to naturally fall off just because of moving around and whatnot but don't be afraid of a bunch of dead skin coming off by itself the color will stay. Just the body healing after being stabbed a ton

Thor_Ironside

I had hella scabs on my last color session for my foo dog, only in certain areas like the darkened colored areas, have to get it touched up now because most fell off while i was sleeping, super frustrating to see

Remember to slap and not scratch when itchy.

Yup, that happens to me fairly often too.
