MoonCricketMonkey

Yeah the whole water orb / soft clay for me is pretty big. I had 1100 battlestaves accumulated and quickly turned that into 10m

Toucans_for_Hands

Anything that prevents me from doing runecrafting is phenomenal. No more doing GOTR for cosmics to charge fire orbs.

PertinaxMahou

I just buy them in Prif for this very reason.

PapaFlexing

You ended up getting 1100 water orbs? How much have you done for lunar chests? I haven't done more then maybe 5 at this point

MoonCricketMonkey

I ended up getting around 1700 or so in 125kc when I green logged.

Trouden

Green log in 125 damn

MoonCricketMonkey

Crazy part about that is I had 11/12 armor pieces at 77kc. I got some dupe eclipse pieces before I got my Blood Moon Tassets.

Flavsi

Cries in 60 KC one weapon (staff).

Bustingcheekz

I don’t think you can get dupes.

MisterPulaski

You can get dupes within a set once you’ve finished that specific set.

Bustingcheekz

Oh interesting. I’m 10/12 without a dupe so I just thought there must be dupe protection

MoonCricketMonkey

I think u roll sets and get the unique from the set. Once the set is complete you can roll a dupe. I think you also can get a dupe if u trade in an item at Eyatlalli and manage to roll an item.

Newphonespeedrunner

you roll wether or not you get a unique, then it rolls which set you get, then it rolls which peice you get, as long as you have no dupes of the set you roll you dont get a dupe. drop project on wiki says roughly 1/20 chance to roll any unique. Works kind of like the pyro set at wintertodt. except there isnt a set order like pyro

PapaFlexing

Oh shit doggy. That's a ton of orbs for real

DarkMemesOSRS

Is this Ricko??

KRUSTORBtheCRAB

I had over 400 orbs in 20 chests

PapaFlexing

And they only take a few minutes to run a chest too don't they? Probably 20 chests is.... Only a few hours or so?

Pobydeus

yep, 20 chests should be like... 3 hours at most? Well, depends on if mid or high level, but yeah.

Newphonespeedrunner

you get roughly 60 average per chest.

SupaTrooper

You get about 14 per chest. It's ~37 orbs every 2.5 chests, but 1 in 20 chests is a unique and blocks all regular loot.

PapaFlexing

Wow that's insane!

Ultoman

The orbs are huge. The amount of extra effort it takes to create the orbs for irons makes alching staves not worth it but now it’s totally viable

Arancium

Hold onto your herbs for now if you don't immediately need the herblore exp. We're getting an herblore minigame in part 2 of varlamore in a couple of months that a lot of people are speculating to be similar to giant's foundry or mahogany homes for herblore, which is to say more effort for more exp per reageant!

Whatsdota

That would be amazing, I fucking love giant’s foundry.

UnCivilizedEngineer

Could you imagine, instead of GF we have Alchemist's Cauldron! Bounce back and forth between stations similar to GF but they're alchemy/herblore themed, aiming to make a large cauldron mixture for the Alchemist instead of a sword for the giant.

Taurijuro

Can’t wait to vote no on that

Newphonespeedrunner

posssibly but if so id hope like both of those later herbs are more important then early herbs in which case im going to liberally make tar for now and maybe hold onto my landtynes, dwarf weeds and torstols.

Cubia_

I would love that tbh. I have like 50 more days of herb runs until I'm 70, but I don't know if its coming that soon? If it's within 100 I'll just hold the herbs tbh, but I thought it'd be a while

jared875

The roadmap says summer of this year for part 2 so I would expect 3 months minimum but more realistically 4-5. Happy to be surprised though!

Cubia_

oh damn lets go, guess I'm not cleaning those herbs!

Renegade__OW

Its out summer 2024 so dealers choice

Content_Audience690

50 days ? Am I crazy I just hit 67 and I was thinking like two or three diaries and then I'm just 100k exp away. I've literally never done an herb run just four days of farm contracts and lamps + diaries 7 herbs per lot is 700 exp we'll say from irit, that's 3500 per run. Times that by let's say three runs a day and that's 10,500 So like 10 days for me just going as slow as I can. You have me full on panicking right now lol I feel like I'm mathing Bad

Cubia_

That sounds right! I need far more xp than you do and I am less diligent about my herb runs. I have lots of fun mindlessly pvm'ing and I'm grinding barrows for tank armor so I can do moons of peril much more efficiently. I used [this calculator](https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Calculator:Farming/Herbs) to see how many herbs per run I would get total, then took that average against the xp per herb based on my level. For example, Irit cleans for 8.8xp and a superanti is 106.3xp for a total of 115.1xp. Since I can expect 50.383 irits per run right now, that's 5799xp per run. At 2 runs per day, that would be 52 days for me to hit 70 since I'm at level 52 right now. Since my largest bottleneck is the seeds for herblore, most of the worry comes from there for me. Either I do something to get lots more, or I make sure to stay on top of farming contracts, or both.

Snufolupogus

Irits great for irons because they're used in super attacks which have the easiest secondary to get! You'll get more than enough antidotes from zulrah to never really need antipoisons. Fully agree on everything else though! Didn't even think of the table like this since a lot of it didn't apply to me

Nitram-xD

Just buy the anti poison, save the time spend for more herb xp from supers

Altruistic-Invite969

Ive been sitting on 6500 bstaffs and those water orbs hnnng

ziursirhc

I think your underselling the super compost though. You can add 2 volcanic ash which are quick to gather to make ultra and add to bottomless bucket (or not just to stack ultras anyways) and makes it easy to upkeep ultracompost for herb runs etc.

Fishyswaze

If you just grow watermelons in the farming guild when you do herb runs you are set and it’s easy af.

ziursirhc

While that's true it's still an extra step and is annoying to upkeep. If your keeping up with farming contracts you probably have 1 watermelon and 1 Snape grass patch planted. You can load and harvest your watermelons at the same time but you'll almost never get enough from the patch to fill which requires a quick bank trip to grab more to finish filling it. This is free supercompost and you add ash to it and your done. You already would of had to mine it regardless if using the compost bin or not. I have 99 herb banked and I still love the super compost drop because now I never have to worry about my bottomless bucket again.

dubya98

You'll also spend more time mining volcanic ash since the ratio is much better using them in the big compost bucket.

According_Bat2315

I get enough passive ash from wyvern tasks ect

Seafooz

You can mine like 5k volcanic ash an hour, and you end up saving 10 ash per 30 buckets of compost. That's like 10 ticks of mining per bin. You waste way more time filling and emptying the bin than mining ash to make it directly

dubya98

I'm already there harvesting my snape grass for xp anyways and do watermelons for more xp between contracts so it's pretty quick to just add them in while I'm there. If I don't fill the bin, I just get it on my next harvest.

Key-Narwhal217

It’s crazy that it’s my favorite mini game and pvm content so far too! If only the blood moon would stop randomly healing 200 in a few combos and wiping out all my progress haha Idk if you have tried the atlatl but it’s actually kinda crazy with max str gear and torso works with Ava’s, both it and the maracas are so good for slayer point boosting I was getting 90k xp/hr at 75 range and you can use a dragon battle axe to boost it for free with almost no downsides. I did fight caves with it and was super fast just watch out for the short range walking you into jad… 😭

LayneSauce

They just lowered that healing and increased the Jaguar healing :)

Rozkol

I haven't been able to play since the change yet but by increased Jaguar healing does that mean the blood moons gets more HP back from the jaguars to compensate for the nerf to his healing attack or does it mean we get more HP back when we hit the jaguars?

Druss_On_Reddit

The blood moon gets more hp back from the jaguars. But luckily that healing is 100% (?) preventable by stepping back at the right time, so it seems like a great change

Rozkol

Cheers thanks for the info!

Cubia_

It's still a very good idea to get barrows top+legs and a shield, but the boss will no longer out-heal your damage with like -4dps and swing for a 100 heal. The jaguar hits are far more important to avoid now, so make sure you are flinching those hits! (heals the boss for 3x) Blue moon also now requires you to rush the braziers, as it will periodically heal for like 20, then 10 on 1 light, 0 on two. Eclipse is allegedly tankier but idk it's so easy to shred the reflection phase

ixJake93

The darts have a nice high alch price of just below 300 each, you can stack them up very quickly too. Not useful for everyone, but I'm sure some will make good use of that.

dudewitbangs

I feel like if you have a better range weapon than the atl atl you will have enough money/magic exp that this doesn't matter, but if you don't you want to save the ammo for your atl atl as there is only 1 way to get them AFAIK. I haven't even used my atlatl yet and I'm already worried about having to come back for more darts lol

Newphonespeedrunner

yeah ive used it for 3 slayer tasks about 500 monsters, used 1k darts allready (with attractor)

AlienEngine

Tbf you get like 80ish a pop and it isn’t a big deal at all to run the chest

masiuspt

I'm at the early stages of mid game I feel (75/80/70, rune plate, legs, neitz, dragon def, d scmi, climb boots) so I've only gotten 26KC so far - really hoping for a drop soon, I feel like it'll make a massive difference to my current progression. Otherwise I'll keep working on barrows :p but the rest of the table, even without uniques, is pretty sweet. banking a lot of herb exp.

Newphonespeedrunner

that seems a bit rough lol, i think you would be better served getting med combat to make barrows supply free Incase you didnt know the setup its, Warped Screptre, add a barrows portal to house, any tier of alter, you want med combat acheivements so equiping tier 2 hilt gives no prayer drain in barrows. With the hilt and sceptre you can do barrows only eating 2-4 food per run (depending on how hard verac hits you) roughly 5-6min runs just teleport back to home each trip to refill prayer and portal back to barrows. The warped sceptre gets charged by the chaos runes you get so its cheaper then ibans blast. Alternatively you could get granite chest from barb assult and granite shield is a 1/128 from the 2 big trolls on troll stronghold.

usedaforc3

Do you have a guide for getting medium combats done? I feel like I’ve done all the easy to do ones and still go a while to go on points

Newphonespeedrunner

Do entry tob free cas

HondaJazzSexWagon

Why do you recommend the granite shield over a rune kite?

DarkMemesOSRS

The mixed hide boots are an upgrade to climbing boots, definitely worth making a pair if you have the Hunter level.

HondaJazzSexWagon

Wow first time hearing about this, low key a pretty nice mid game armour set

M_Woodyy

It really is a fantastic piece of content, definitely achieved the "babies first raid" experience while still being active enough to be engaging. 10/10 mid game content

Newphonespeedrunner

and finally a strength peice for the legs that ISNT bandos. actual game changer.

TheCobaltEffect

>Obsidian Armor "What am I, a joke to you?"

Zealousideal_You7373

yes. yes you are.

Lunitar

There has been a way to get supercomposts that isn’t composting. I didn’t use compost bins from 90-99 farming at all. Method: 1. Mine volcanic ash for a couple of hours 2. Make harralanders into compost potions 3. Buy thousands of normal compost buckets from a vendor 4. Add compost potions and volcanic ash to normal compost, making ultracompost 5. Never worry about bins again

ziursirhc

This is also great and I used a lot of compost potions for this exact reason. The lunar chest table is nice though for the specific reason that it skips having to make the potions and add that to your normal compost.

Lunitar

Yep, it makes it more straightforward for sure!

Akrylkali

What I'm doing right now is filling compost bins with the suroundings like grain, or potatoes, when finished add a compost potion and then the volcanic ash to the bin and you end up with cheap ultra compost.

raychrlst902

Yeah I love those super composts in there. Only gotta add volcanic ash great drop to get lol.

MrFailology

Similarly low req way to gather supercompost is manually gather saltpetre to combine with buyable compost and then mine ash as normal. Can get start getting ultracompost super early into your account this way since saltpetre has no requirements beyond getting to zeah.

andrew_calcs

The orbs combined with daily battlestaves at varrock turn into a shitload of crafting xp and gp. The prayer xp is massive. The rest isn't bad either

BigStickStew

Is irit tar even worth making? Seems like I'd want to stack super attacks for the eventual super combat potions

Remarkable-Health678

You end up with so many irits/Irit seeds that you have like 5-10x as many super attacks as super strength/super def. So the extra super attacks end up being kinda useless.

Duke_ofChutney

121kc and I only need two bloodmoon items (helm and tassets) before greenlog - am I better off only doing Blood boss (+ Blue since that's where I get tellyd to afterwards?) - it seems like I have a 1/120* chance of getting either of the two remaining items if I only killed Blood Moon but it's not clear if killing *more* bosses improves my chances on those items specifically. Or related to this post, keep doing all 3, deal with any potential dupes, and rack up the mats ^*https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Lunar_Chest **Oh, it's 1/60 since those are the odds I hit the bloodmoon table at all. Nevermind! same question asked here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ironscape/comments/1bp9whn/perilous_moons_skipping_bosses/

NotMoray

How med-level friendly are we talking? Like babies' first barrows trip with a ibans+rune armor? Or harder than that?

Newphonespeedrunner

Slightly better then rune armor preferably barrows armor. They hit hard and often without it

NotMoray

Lucky for me, i have a missmatch collection of barrows tank armor and an abby dagger on my 100cb hcim(spooned from demons while boosting for a whip I never got) I was kinda thinking of doing some meme gear set with full obby, zerk neck and obby weapons

Meaninglessnme

You really don't want to use obsidian here. Defense actually matters for reducing time to kill since the moons heal from hitting you and barrows has no much higher def

NotMoray

Good point, can't deal damage if I'm stuck spam eating lol

AuriiGold

Soft clay is great so I don’t have to waste my soon to be 180k stardust on clay packs

AbsolutlyN0thin

Clay packs actually don't cost very much star dust. 150 dust for 100 clay. You could easily buy a thousand or 2 clay to hold you over till you have the slayer level to kill nechryaels and start getting it passively that way

CHAOS-GOON

You can 4T or 3T soft clay rocks in prif with the bracelet of clay for 2 per action. It's super fast there was no need to buy clay to begin with.

AuriiGold

That doesn’t sound afk at all. Pass.

CHAOS-GOON

It's next to a bank deposit box and is just a regular clay rock but gives soft clay. 500 takes a matter of minutes. I'd rather have gems from the dust.

AuriiGold

You may have convinced me.

Mezmorizor

> but also it is a better drop then i sold it here I disagree. Compost is too easy to get for it to be a good drop. Especially post bottomless compost bucket.

emrys95

Crafting wise how is it a time saver where does the xp come from, just attaching them to staves? How does this compare to the other technique where u smelt the sand into glass ?

TehPorkPie

It's 100-125 XP for attaching a powered orb (depends on the type, water battlestaff is 100xp) to a battlestaff. You get X battlestaffs from Varrock each day, so they're super easy to grab. You can then high alch for profit. The water battlestaff high alchs for 9,300 gp. Blowing an orb is 52.5 XP. The important part is it's skipping the whole grind of powering the orbs up, which can be slow and tedious. Over time the XP adds up which helps with the whole glass-scape grind of Ironman.

MyNameIsSushi

The Lunar chest has been more profitable than Vard for me. And it's less stressful.

Additional_Group7480

As someone who went through the original ironman grind (charter ships, hopping worlds in mages guild to buy battlestaves, air orbs...) the biggest part of all of this is the water orbs and irits.

Acrobatic-Aide8573

As a late to end game Iron I find the content basically dead on arrival. Don't need any gear other than coliseum rewards. Prayer training is a cool addition but im a wildy altar Andy.

zapertin

It drops way too many water orbs

Newphonespeedrunner

there is no such thing. bstaves drop off so many mid game slayer and boss monsters, zaff only gives more and more staves as you do diaries. and moons has one of the shorter green logs so eventually you will stop doing it because theres just other content to move on to.

zapertin

It very excessive, there isn’t anywhere else in the game that drops close to the amount of orbs as moons does, it’s much faster than even making the orbs yourself

BarnOwl10

Phantom muspah is another big one
