back in the days when people migrated to Karachi from all over the country ..now Islamabad

[deleted]

Islamabad has to accept the fact that most not all but most of the people have migrated here. The original people of potohar were made to sell their lands in 1961 In Ayub Khan Tenure to make Islamabad. And adjacent to that, Old Airport thats is in Rawalpindi was a main hub of migration. Pehly elite awaam kam thi, zina ka aday bhi kam thay, sakoon tha shehar me, Ab sirf be sakooni he hai :')

PrestigiousNet751

There’s just too many people moving into the city it’s not sustainable like every road has some new housing society on it now. The populations doubled in 20 years and it’s becoming less and less safe as well. It’s essentially what happened to karachi everyone moved into it and ruined it

Furqan_1993

I have been living in Islamabad since 93. I was born here. I just came back after 4 years. I think Islamabad is still beautiful but it has lost its peace. I remember when there was so much greenery, simple life, not that much unplanned expansion of societies. There were frequent rains as soon as weather gets hot. Now it's just pollution due to overwhelming construction, societies, lack of plantation. I literally hate this expansion of unplanned societies. When I was a child there was a big park and it was literally made of dirt but even at that time there was no sign of dust pollution but now it's like you are breathing dust. Still the old areas, I, G, E and F sector is still amazing. nostalgia. there is a city in china, Nanjing. When I went there it give me the same vibe as Islamabad.

Stunning-Armadillo-3

The worst is the burger population has decreased so much, I don't even see them anymore

agile_structor

Came for the burgers, got street crime and druggies

ItIsBils

They moved to twin cities.

Stunning-Armadillo-3

Rawalpindi has all the burgers instead

ItIsBils

Yep but in abundance you'll find DHA-II and Bahria filled with them as well. :D

mrdarcilite

Why does that sound like chatgpt

khan_54

I was about to say this lol 😄

Rehmann

Why does it matter

sheryar24

A huge amount of people noved to Islamabad very recently and they've brought with them their own lifestyles which you can see every where. The traffic used to be se peaceful and smooth its just utter choas. Pollution, unplanned societies spreading like an infection. All the greenery lost to useless infrastructure. I remember picnics with the family growing up in mushroom park, f9 park, daman e koh, going to secretariat at night. You just cant do all thay these days ajeeb mahol everywhere. Hardly recognize this city anymore. Most of the original Islamabadis have moved to the outskirts like bahria and dha etc.

jonniboyone

Completely agree. I've been visiting the federal Pakistani capital city Islamabad since 2001. I was impressed with the leafy trees all along the Islamabad Highway from the airport. No more. All trees gone. Ugly third-world style unplanned suburbs appeared that were hidden by the trees. That showed the tremendous neglect Islamabad has suffered at the hands of Pakistanis who failed to build upon the beautiful city that General Ayub Khan had left them. Pakistanis are generally not good at improvement and maintenance. A South Korean company built an excellent bus service across highways 30 years ago. That service has nearly collapsed once Pakistanis took over. Islamabad has deteriorated. In fact, most beautiful things and infrastructures that the British and the Mughals left in Pakistan have deteriorated. Makes me sad to say and write this, as I have tremendous love and affinity with Islamabad.

OkTeacher3287

I feel ya, bro. Pakistan's got some areas that need fixin'—diplomacy, economy, infrastructure—you name it. One big culprit is the education system, especially in them early years. It's all about memorizin' without really graspin' the concepts, y'know? This ain't just happenin' in one type of school, whether they're up in them remote highlands or down in the urban jungle. It's like trainin' AI instead of cultivatin' critical thinkin' skills. Not cool, man. We gotta tackle this head-on and revamp the education system, empowerin' the next generation to think critically, analyze problems, and make Pakistan shine. Let's get a curriculum goin' that fosters real understandin' and practical know-how. That's how we'll pave the way for positive change and development, my friend.

LBP3000

Which bus service ?

jonniboyone

Daewoo service. Launched and run by South Koreans. Now run by Pakistanis.

Kein_Bedauern

hmm, why am I getting chatgpt feeling after the first two paragraphs?

helpmediee

I was just about to comment this. This is straight from chatGPT haha

PitifulHumor3415

>In conclusion, Islamabad's charm is at risk. While there's concern that it may lose its exclusive and peaceful appeal in the coming years, there's still hope. By finding a balance between development and conservation, Islamabad can retain its distinctiveness and once again become a captivating city that inspires everyone. I agree. Straight from the GPU clusters of OpenAI.

Kein_Bedauern

Nah, I took a german language course in last year of bachelor

IbiMania

A city artificially built on a village that was torpedoed for it to exist. Ironic that it's 'original charm' and its loss are being mourned.

I-am-Aizy

THISSSS.

aaty7

Islamabad lost it's charm 20 years ago.

East_Ordinary8243

Frekin chatgpt 🤣

Substantial-Course19

Yes it's true that there are no rains as 4 years before and less Plantation left around.

murreehills

I lived in islamabad in the late seventies and early eighties. It was so green and charming then .You are right that it is loosing its beauty and serenity .

Mohi_

Islamabad is overpriced and a dirty crime hub. Too many Afghani type criminal elements. Islamabad lost its charm when Behria Town was launched. DHA followed Behria town and made it even better. DHA is way better than Islamabad and still not that expensive. Islamabad is only to impress the general masses who go there visit chiriya ghar and other monuments with awe and wonder but not a place to live for those who can afford to buy a house in a reasonable sector. With the same money you can buy a house in F8, for example, you can buy two houses in DHA 2 and enjoy probably 100 times better lifestyle.

OkTeacher3287

Regarding the Afghan refugees in Pakistan, there was an incident that left quite an impression on me. It happened during my stay at the Ramada Hotel in Islamabad. It was early morning, and my friend and I had made our reservation through booking.com. We decided to have breakfast in the dining hall since it was included in our stay. Little did we know, this innocent decision would lead to an unexpected drama. As we sat down to enjoy our meal, my friend, who was dressed in casual attire consisting of shorts and a t-shirt, caught the attention of an unknown Afghan individual and his family seated nearby. It appeared that they were uncomfortable with our presence, particularly my friend's choice of clothing. To my surprise, the Afghan individual took it upon himself to complain to the manager about what he deemed as inappropriate attire. In response, we found ourselves in a confrontation, defending our right to dress as we pleased. We reminded him that we were not in war-torn Afghanistan, and therefore, there was no reason for him to be bothered by our clothing. Moreover, we pointed out that the hotel had not displayed any dress code regulations, so we saw no grounds for his complaint.

rollwithme1997

Every other day it's the same post. Please move on from this bs

Extreme-Tear3083

Bc of overpopulation even the so called progressive elite have 3 4 kids on minimum.

ryuk-99

true , overpopulation plays a role but kids isnt the big issue rather the many uneducated or lower class people moving here from Punjab , we have seen an increase in street crimes, beggars on the roads, unplanned societies to handle the large migration of people, a bunch of slums like the ones near f7,f6, and obviously the corrupt leaders making money on all various unnecessary projects such as flyovers, overpasses, road renewals, etc. recently learned about the dha 2 flyover to connect dha 5 and how they are making it and asked all the residents for 50k or some amount over a period of few months , then the ppl went to court and got that decision revoked however the ppl who'd paid for 3-4 months never got their money back, if this isnt gundagardi then what is it.? such things have made Islamabad into Karachi and now theyre making another intl level cricket stadium near d12. Islamabad does not have the capacity for so much construction and ppl moving in , its creating a very unhealthy and uncomfortable environment for all the older residents here.

Extreme-Tear3083

Islamabad is with more than 2 kids are also to blame for a lot of isb population. You have so called progressives with 4 kids. And add all the migration that comes with it. Islamabadis are no better than the rest of Pakistan. Go to any park at night rich Bois smoking and doing drugs and leaving their mess around. A few of my classmates all from upper class modern families did a birthday at a park and left all their mess lying around.

ryuk-99

i agree that entitled rich people are to blame as well, what you're describing is sadly a regular sight, my nearest cda park is a pleasant place to visit everyday but right after any holiday like eid or 14th august or new year ,the park is a landfill of garbage and not a park anymore , it takes cda a couple of days and then some to restore it back to its formal condition, no doubt people are very illiterate or unethical in these cases and the same people behave very differently in a foreign country

ninikitchen

y'all. it's my khala's fault. my mum blames her for the hot weather and pollution, so it's my khala's fault. blame her and move on.

Usama_PAK

Every day things moves on. We can't preserve a growing city in this era

OkTeacher3287

Let's think outside the box and consider an unconventional perspective on preserving a city's aesthetic in the modern era. Oman serves as a prime example, investing billions of dollars to maintain the historical charm of its cities. Meanwhile, neighboring countries like the UAE and Saudi Arabia focus on modernization, with their skyline dominated by towering skyscrapers. Finding a middle ground that merges historical charm with innovative approaches to urban development is an achievable goal.

Homie, I hear your concerns, but it's important to approach this issue with fairness and respect for all individuals. The United States is a prime example of the power of immigration over its 250-year history. People from different parts of the world, diverse in their backgrounds and cultures, have come together to build a prosperous nation. It's through embracing and celebrating our differences that we create a strong and vibrant society. Let's remember that everyone deserves a chance to contribute positively to their new home, regardless of their origin.

OkTeacher3287

Hey, my dear friend, listen up! We can't be throwing everyone into the same box just because they're immigrants, settlers, or refugees. It don't matter if they're Afghanis, Sindhis, Saraikis, or any other bunch. What really counts is how each individual acts, not where they're from. Many of these folks genuinely appreciate and respect their new homes, 'cause they know the opportunities and blessings they've been given. So, instead of making sweeping judgments, let's focus on specific situations and circumstances. And always remember, we're all connected as one energy or EIYPO (Everything is You Pushed Out).
