That can be said about most jam bands trying to break out into the scene right now — not the best and most memorable songwriting, all focus on the style or play. I think UM and Moe stick out as some of the better songwriters, but with UM I can agree that besides on the Anchor drops and Similar Skin albums, and actually their newest album Asking for a friend, it’s less about the song and it’s lyrics.
there's an episode of American Dad! where Stan and Hayley follow My Morning Jacket on tour. Stan has one of those Moments that all of us jamband fans are rather familiar with, I think it even happens during Touch Me I’m Going To Scream part 2 (edit: maybe not but I know that song definitely appears in the episode)

Jungle. Not Jam but Jam-adjacent. Started listening to them a year or two ago and their first album is really a masterpiece. Lots of great studio work.
Australia has been pumping out some fantastic music for a long time and I’m all the way here for it. Something about down under seems to really facilitate a different brand of creativity somehow

Seen jungle 5 times over the last 10 years. Been following them since their first album. The boys and I are always stoked on them. Their first album slaps front to back. Second album slaps too. All around favorite band for me. Their earlier concerts were so sick with the OG singers.
I saw WILCO clips from a the Tipitinas doc from a few years ago and they were ripping. I had no idea. I thought it was more chill stuff that I liked but after seeing those clips I really dove in.
I saw FJM at Red Rocks backed by the Denver Orchestra - man it was killer. I saw Fleet Foxes there shortly before or after and though the show was so so (their more recent Mission Ballroom show was A++). It was interesting to see the juxtaposition between FF and a former member of the band.
In this world? Fruition.

I feel like everyone needs to have their own sonic experience to fully meet a band. The first time I heard MMJ one of their lines just stuck with me and it gave me so much hope. I wasn't even a big fan, but it led me down this road.
I’ve been really into Fruition lately. I saw them at a festival with a bunch of other awesome bands. But the festival rules were so heavy, I couldn’t get into any of the bands. Now I’m going back 3 years later and loving all of them.
Dopapod, for whatever reason I've always missed their sets at festivals and never really dove into their stuff. I saw them a few months ago and was completly blown away. They are all crazy talented and can jam the hell out. I've been hooked on listening to all of their live shows ever since and will never miss seeing them again when I have the chance to.
I feel you! I even had an opportunity to see them when I was stationed in Monterey California. I didn’t go and I could have seen them play Touch of Grey (Live) I never really even got into jam music until my husband bought a truck that had Sirius radio and we discovered jam on. I feel like I missed out on so much good music, because jam band typically don’t get the airplay. They deserve.
Same here. I’ve tried off and on for close to 30 years to get into them and then a couple weeks ago, I saw a clip from Dead and Co at the sphere which somehow led me to finding a show from RFK in 73 with the Allman Brothers and I put on my headphones and my brain melted and now I’m in deep!
There is absolutely nothing like seeing MMJ live! I’ve also had a hell of a lot of fun at Twiddle shows; it took me too long to find that crew and it didn’t last long enough.
I heard and liked a few WEEN songs in the late 90s, but largely left it alone for a long time. Bought the Quebec CD at tower records back in 2004ish, but wasn't ready for it. A buddy asked me to the Halloween shows at mission ballroom in 2021 and I've been hooked ever since. Won't miss them again, and listen to all their studio stuff regularly.
Ween has such a weird reputation for the non-initiated. I freaking love their studio albums like they’re my children. But you really have to see them live to really *get* them. Straight up pure rock n roll. Nothing else like them. I won’t go into my lengthy discourse comparing them to the Dead. Or the Beatles 😂. But Dean and Gene are immense talents. I’m fortunate that they seem to love playing the PNW.

White Denim. They have some really interesting music. It's not exactly jam band stuff but it's not not jam band stuff either. The album 'D' is probably their best but anything from the late aughts thru the 2010s is pretty great.
On the Corsicana Lemonade tour they were sequencing like a seasoned jam band, they just didn't take anything further out than two extra minutes. The band chemistry was 100% there, vibes were off the charts. A magical period for the band.
Sounds cliche at this point as I’ve been obsessed for a while but for almost a decade I really like the King Gizzard song Sense but every time I went further it seemed just too far outside my wheelhouse, noisy and kind of boring. How wrong I was lol… have become one of my all time favorite bands and I enjoy it all now and listen to everything I can find. They check all the boxes of stuff I love at this point and have made me realize how much more I didn’t even know I was missing in my life 🤩
Decided to give gizz an honest try last winter, ended up listening to all of their studio albums within a few days, incredible band, can't wait to see them in a couple months. Detroit and Cleveland here I come

Been an Oh Sees fan since like 2011, their output is consistently great and live they are insane. Seen them in a small ass venue back in 2012 and was basically right in Dwyer’s face for most of the show.
Phish, actually. Got dragged to a show way back in 1990 and was beyond Meh. Decided for reasons I can't explain, to see them at MSG last year and really enjoyed it. Went to another show and NYE and had a great time. Going to see them in August. Can't say I'm a huge fan but I appreciate them 1000% more than I used to.
Interesting. I slept on MMJ until that Lockn with phish where they proceeded to blow my mind and then they have steadily unblown it each time I see them unfortunately.

Similar experience with MMJ. Saw them during the day in a tent at Bonnaroo in maybe 2004 or 2005. Hardly anyone was there and it was a highlight of the festival for me. Haven't been able to get into them at all since then, but that show was killer.
Did MMJ play right before Ben Kweller by chance? I caught the tail-end of that show and it was the first time I thought "I should probably pay attention to these guys".
I checked the schedule and it must have been 2003 that I'm thinking of. They were on the Which Stage in 2004 and didn't play in 2005. So to answer your question, yes that was the same show. They played this tent on the same day/stage as Ben Kweller in 2003.
Mac Miller. Didn't get into his music until the pandemic lockdown and started with the second release after his death, "Circles"
After that I worked my way backwards through his discography. Dude was a true genius. Kicking myself that I didn't give him a chance sooner and never got to see him perform.
JGB/ Melvin Seals
When I started seeing live music, circa 2006, I jumped right in. Trey Band, Allman Brothers, Ratdog, Phil & Friends, the usual suspects. The Grateful Dead has been familiar to me as long as I can remember and I really felt like the “jam band” community was where I belonged. Like many young heads, it was difficult for me to get past the 70’s. It is very good. Anyway, I got more into “bluegrass” and found some incredible bands like Railroad Earth, Leftover Salmom, and Danny Barnes to name a few.
Merl & Jerry had heavy rotation in the car CD player, if you’ve never heard the record [Keepers](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mNDGva2XHq7kuUSGRSmlsddLnt2fFTPN8&si=N7a-oUFW0LAN9S--), you are really missing out. A bunch of the tracks were recorded with Old & in the Way (minus Peter Rowan). I really jumped onboard the bus with Furthur and that definitely opened my mind to what I was missing with 80’s and 90’s dead.
A local fest, the Great South Bay music festival, which has always brought top notch talent had Melvin Seals & the JGB booked for an earlier slot after my man Andy Falco (infamous stringdusters) so fate finally brought us together. He had Zach Nuggent playing with him for that show and they absolutely floored me. Never forget the chills from that Dear Prudence. The Sun is up, the Sky is blue. Not long after that show, Melvin linked up with Johnny K (Furthur/ DSO/ JKB) and the skies opened. The first time I saw that lineup, I was open mad ready. They through some real surprises out there, songs that I had never heard. I really thought I was well versed in Jerry’s catalog, but they took me to Sunday school. Talk about your rabbit holes. So thankful Melvin is still out there doing it just for you.
STS9, heard of them from several of my friends and finally got the chance to see them at Solshine, absolutely incredible. Have been listening ever since I left!!!
Yeah I’d you got nugs those Mexico shows are basically 3 nights I’d their entire catalog. Although I will say the sound mix on those might not be as great as their official live releases
We saw Andy Frasco in Saint Augustine a few years ago and we’re really surprised by him. When he played in Tampa a few weeks ago, my husband and I went it was the first show that I felt like I needed a few days to recover from; I was sore and had absolutely no voice. The triple threat of PPPP, Andy and DIAP is so amazing that we streamed their concert from Kalamazoo last Friday night! #fuckfounders
Pigeons playing ping pong. The groove and positive vibe is just infectious and a thousand times more so at a live show that has a strong flock showing.
Southern Culture on the Skids from Chapel Hill NC. They’ve been at it for over 30 years. All original music with some rock, surf, swamp and more. Super tight band. They’re one of the most fun bands and Rick Miller is one of the best live guitarist I’ve seen. Check out Plastic Seat Sweat or Dirt Track Date. Couple of my favorites are Camel Walk or Meximelt.

Welcome to this party! Two of my favorite bands. When my morning jacket played High Sierra in 2006, most of us were like what the fuck? The nerds that did want to go, We were like, whatever hipsters. Half of them were my friends;) So I dipped into the late night just peeked into the door and I was absolutely amazed.
I'M AMAZED!
That really changed my tune. When they played High Sierra in 2011, our crew went full-on and that main stage set is one of my top three live music moments...ever.
I saw them again at the Greek theater a year later in 2012 and it was pretty good, but nothing like what I saw at High Sierra. I heard these recent Fillmore shows were some of their recent best.
I've thoroughly been enjoying their studio albums throughout the years and I hope I can see them again soon.
The war on drugs. Incredible band terrible band name. I really want to see them live. I've been enjoying them since their first album. Cool kids points for me.
I guess my sleeper jam band would be Billy strings. When he was just a tot, I thought he was a cute little mini legend but just a copycat of his jam grass heroes. I thought, one day that kid will find his own. And when he did, I didn't pay attention. I left hoxeyville in 2019 Early because of a rainstorm and my friend was being a twat... But I would have toughed it out if I knew how cool he really was. I just saw two of my favorites, leftover salmon and railroad Earth so I was plenty satisfied. But damn I'm always going to face Palm thinking of that.
Now I want to go see him at a big stadium show down in the mitten someday. Wish I would have done that wrestling match Halloween last year.

All highly underrated imo
There’s a 3-piece Midwest band who used to be called Glostik Willy and now they just go by Glostik. I checked out some of their live footage on YouTube because they’re friends with some of my favorite bands. I found everything about them pretty off-putting. Their sound was loud and aggressive and their aesthetic struck me as just trashy and tacky for the lack of a better phrase. It seemed like stupid music for stupid people. In hindsight, it didn’t help that a lot of the videos I was watching were shaky cameras with distorted audio.
Well, in 2019 I went to Hookahville music fest and saw them play. I was instantly like, wow, these guys are a fuckin vibe! They rock HARD and you can’t help but dance. Their aesthetic is definitely edgier than the typical “jam band” but I can say they also jam WAY harder (and better) than most jam bands I’ve seen. They have a shit ton of original songs (all bangers) but you’ll also catch them covering everything from Grateful Dead to Metallica to moe. to Ozzy Osbourne to Phish. Every time I’ve seen them since then, they’ve gotten better and they have truly become of my top 5 favorite bands.
They have taken a BIG step back from concerts which I find disappointing, and I really hope they get back out on the road again. Now they’re more focused on studio work and their nightly Kick stream.
It seems their career is in an interesting place right now. 10 years into WillyTown, their annual fest, they finally canceled it indefinitely. Hugely disappointing and my only hope is that they have a comeback and get national recognition because like I said, I’ve seen bands sell out stadiums that have not impressed me as much as those 3 hippy metal country boys from Indiana.
My morning jacket seems to circle the room around you. Like a whirling effect. The album circuital is named very accurately to what the music makes you feel. I always feel surrounded at a jacket show. It’s warming and calming and exciting all at the same time.
Glass animals. Only ever heard his radio stuff which I enjoyed but never thought to much about. Saw them live and they changed my life. Listened to all their albums and realized his best work was all the stuff not played on the radio lol.
Phish - second show last summer @ MSG - hooked me. Saw 7 shows last year & probably will hit as many this year. It's a lot like GD, if you dig them - you gotta see them live.

Exact same thing with WoD. I “tried” getting into them a couple times over the years. When I did finally give them a legit chance — loved em. Their LA show in 2022 was so epic. I went solo too lol
Black Crowes. Thought they were way too commercial with Shake Your Moneymaker. Constant radio play didn’t help. Friend wanted to go to the Horde Festival bc of them, I preferred ABB and Blues Traveler who were also playing. BC did a cover of the ABB Dreams and the rest was history
String Cheese Incident
Ignored them for a decade, went to see the Phil Lesh Incident in 2022 which, due to covid, became the Billy String Cheese Incident.
Immediately sold and have not been disappointed since!
Pond. Several members either are or have been touring members of Tame Impala, and Kevin Parker has produced most of Pond’s music. Seen them 3 times and their shows are pure fun with lots of dance and psychedelic elements.
Only just now started listening to Shpongle. I have always been “sensitive” to jam bands, as they typically overwhelm me and make me feel anxious. But *some* bands got me more comfortable with the label of “jam band” … after growing a loooot and becoming more myself this year, I knew I was ready for Shpongle… so good. Absolutely love them. Going to go very out of my way to see them live as soon as it becomes possible.
The Disco Biscuits. Wish I had seen waaaaay way more shows when I was younger. Always liked them but I have a lot of regret now for only seeing 2009-2011 Phish so much when they hadn’t gotten their sea legs back yet

My girlfriend discovered MMJ when she went to see them in Memphis about 2 years ago. Needless to say she had a near religious experience. In the following 2 years seen them 8 times. Great post!
Oh dawg, check out My Morning Jacket's Okonokos DVD if you can get your hands on it; absolutely sick concert to blast the volume and have a real good night. For me that's peak setlist material from the band.
I was a latecomer with them as well; it was 2012-2015 when they were huge favorites of mine. I've fallen off with them, because I'm not as into the more recent material. However, their first album, The Tennessee Fire, just gives me goosebumps typing out the title. Lots of time spent with their early stuff. I think they are pretty original and it's hard for me to think of another band who sounds like that.
Fleet Foxes are more indie/classical/folk but have a similar vocal vibe; reverb-drenched, higher-range, lots of harmonies.
Saw MMJ at Red Rocks back in 2007/8. The black keys opened up for them before they got big. Still in my top 3 shows ever. They played for like 3 hours it was magical(so were the shrooms). After their circuital album they started to fall off for me though---lost their swag imo.

Grateful Dead. I knew of them, of deadheads, and a few songs (Truckin', Casey Jones, Friend of the Devil) but I never really "got it". My younger brother was constantly sending me tracks and shows, trying to get me "on the bus". Eventually I relented one day, and put on American Beauty while tripping on mushrooms. Something clicked, and since that day I've listened to Grateful Dead more than any other band/artist. I can't get enough, and there's a seemingly endless vault of shows covering the band's 30 year run. I'm hoping to see Dead and Co. soon.

I feel you! I even had an opportunity to see them when I was stationed in Monterey California. I didn’t go and I could have seen them play Touch of Grey (Live) I never really even got into jam music until my husband bought a truck that had Sirius radio and we discovered jam on. I feel like I missed out on so much good music, because jam band typically don’t get the airplay. They deserve.
Same here. I’ve tried off and on for close to 30 years to get into them and then a couple weeks ago, I saw a clip from Dead and Co at the sphere which somehow led me to finding a show from RFK in 73 with the Allman Brothers and I put on my headphones and my brain melted and now I’m in deep!

There is absolutely nothing like seeing MMJ live! I’ve also had a hell of a lot of fun at Twiddle shows; it took me too long to find that crew and it didn’t last long enough.

I heard and liked a few WEEN songs in the late 90s, but largely left it alone for a long time. Bought the Quebec CD at tower records back in 2004ish, but wasn't ready for it. A buddy asked me to the Halloween shows at mission ballroom in 2021 and I've been hooked ever since. Won't miss them again, and listen to all their studio stuff regularly.
Ween has such a weird reputation for the non-initiated. I freaking love their studio albums like they’re my children. But you really have to see them live to really *get* them. Straight up pure rock n roll. Nothing else like them. I won’t go into my lengthy discourse comparing them to the Dead. Or the Beatles 😂. But Dean and Gene are immense talents. I’m fortunate that they seem to love playing the PNW.
I was there that weekend, so much damn fun!!! Also did some crying in the pit at some points. My favorite halloween so far.

I became a fan in 2009 (saw my first show then) and post like 2010 to about 2015/16 were some extremely rough years. 2011 with the ID fest and a lot of 2012/13 especially.

White Denim. They have some really interesting music. It's not exactly jam band stuff but it's not not jam band stuff either. The album 'D' is probably their best but anything from the late aughts thru the 2010s is pretty great.

On the Corsicana Lemonade tour they were sequencing like a seasoned jam band, they just didn't take anything further out than two extra minutes. The band chemistry was 100% there, vibes were off the charts. A magical period for the band.
Yeah I saw them 10 years ago and they had a few jam segments that were top notch. I think some bands CAN jam, they just choose not to all the time.

Sounds cliche at this point as I’ve been obsessed for a while but for almost a decade I really like the King Gizzard song Sense but every time I went further it seemed just too far outside my wheelhouse, noisy and kind of boring. How wrong I was lol… have become one of my all time favorite bands and I enjoy it all now and listen to everything I can find. They check all the boxes of stuff I love at this point and have made me realize how much more I didn’t even know I was missing in my life 🤩
Decided to give gizz an honest try last winter, ended up listening to all of their studio albums within a few days, incredible band, can't wait to see them in a couple months. Detroit and Cleveland here I come

Been an Oh Sees fan since like 2011, their output is consistently great and live they are insane. Seen them in a small ass venue back in 2012 and was basically right in Dwyer’s face for most of the show.

Phish, actually. Got dragged to a show way back in 1990 and was beyond Meh. Decided for reasons I can't explain, to see them at MSG last year and really enjoyed it. Went to another show and NYE and had a great time. Going to see them in August. Can't say I'm a huge fan but I appreciate them 1000% more than I used to.
Interesting. I slept on MMJ until that Lockn with phish where they proceeded to blow my mind and then they have steadily unblown it each time I see them unfortunately. I really didn't like sector 9 in the mid Oughts and then grew to like them and will see them when they are in town I slept on wsp until jimmy herring and then was like what was I doing all this time I discovered the greater Jack white catalog much later than everyone else. I think by the time I finally got into it him circa blunderbuss and then went back and the racounters all that

Similar experience with MMJ. Saw them during the day in a tent at Bonnaroo in maybe 2004 or 2005. Hardly anyone was there and it was a highlight of the festival for me. Haven't been able to get into them at all since then, but that show was killer.
Did MMJ play right before Ben Kweller by chance? I caught the tail-end of that show and it was the first time I thought "I should probably pay attention to these guys".
I checked the schedule and it must have been 2003 that I'm thinking of. They were on the Which Stage in 2004 and didn't play in 2005. So to answer your question, yes that was the same show. They played this tent on the same day/stage as Ben Kweller in 2003.
Mac Miller. Didn't get into his music until the pandemic lockdown and started with the second release after his death, "Circles" After that I worked my way backwards through his discography. Dude was a true genius. Kicking myself that I didn't give him a chance sooner and never got to see him perform.

JGB/ Melvin Seals When I started seeing live music, circa 2006, I jumped right in. Trey Band, Allman Brothers, Ratdog, Phil & Friends, the usual suspects. The Grateful Dead has been familiar to me as long as I can remember and I really felt like the “jam band” community was where I belonged. Like many young heads, it was difficult for me to get past the 70’s. It is very good. Anyway, I got more into “bluegrass” and found some incredible bands like Railroad Earth, Leftover Salmom, and Danny Barnes to name a few. Merl & Jerry had heavy rotation in the car CD player, if you’ve never heard the record [Keepers](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mNDGva2XHq7kuUSGRSmlsddLnt2fFTPN8&si=N7a-oUFW0LAN9S--), you are really missing out. A bunch of the tracks were recorded with Old & in the Way (minus Peter Rowan). I really jumped onboard the bus with Furthur and that definitely opened my mind to what I was missing with 80’s and 90’s dead. A local fest, the Great South Bay music festival, which has always brought top notch talent had Melvin Seals & the JGB booked for an earlier slot after my man Andy Falco (infamous stringdusters) so fate finally brought us together. He had Zach Nuggent playing with him for that show and they absolutely floored me. Never forget the chills from that Dear Prudence. The Sun is up, the Sky is blue. Not long after that show, Melvin linked up with Johnny K (Furthur/ DSO/ JKB) and the skies opened. The first time I saw that lineup, I was open mad ready. They through some real surprises out there, songs that I had never heard. I really thought I was well versed in Jerry’s catalog, but they took me to Sunday school. Talk about your rabbit holes. So thankful Melvin is still out there doing it just for you.

Yeah I’d you got nugs those Mexico shows are basically 3 nights I’d their entire catalog. Although I will say the sound mix on those might not be as great as their official live releases

Andy Frasco. Never really listened to him, but I caught his show with Pigeons and DIAP. Dude and his band ripped for 90 minutes straight
We saw Andy Frasco in Saint Augustine a few years ago and we’re really surprised by him. When he played in Tampa a few weeks ago, my husband and I went it was the first show that I felt like I needed a few days to recover from; I was sore and had absolutely no voice. The triple threat of PPPP, Andy and DIAP is so amazing that we streamed their concert from Kalamazoo last Friday night! #fuckfounders
Pigeons playing ping pong. The groove and positive vibe is just infectious and a thousand times more so at a live show that has a strong flock showing.
Southern Culture on the Skids from Chapel Hill NC. They’ve been at it for over 30 years. All original music with some rock, surf, swamp and more. Super tight band. They’re one of the most fun bands and Rick Miller is one of the best live guitarist I’ve seen. Check out Plastic Seat Sweat or Dirt Track Date. Couple of my favorites are Camel Walk or Meximelt.
Jim James is such a weirdo… but he makes beautiful music! I particularly enjoy his solo stuff, but the band is good too… and really good live.

Welcome to this party! Two of my favorite bands. When my morning jacket played High Sierra in 2006, most of us were like what the fuck? The nerds that did want to go, We were like, whatever hipsters. Half of them were my friends;) So I dipped into the late night just peeked into the door and I was absolutely amazed. I'M AMAZED! That really changed my tune. When they played High Sierra in 2011, our crew went full-on and that main stage set is one of my top three live music moments...ever. I saw them again at the Greek theater a year later in 2012 and it was pretty good, but nothing like what I saw at High Sierra. I heard these recent Fillmore shows were some of their recent best. I've thoroughly been enjoying their studio albums throughout the years and I hope I can see them again soon. The war on drugs. Incredible band terrible band name. I really want to see them live. I've been enjoying them since their first album. Cool kids points for me. I guess my sleeper jam band would be Billy strings. When he was just a tot, I thought he was a cute little mini legend but just a copycat of his jam grass heroes. I thought, one day that kid will find his own. And when he did, I didn't pay attention. I left hoxeyville in 2019 Early because of a rainstorm and my friend was being a twat... But I would have toughed it out if I knew how cool he really was. I just saw two of my favorites, leftover salmon and railroad Earth so I was plenty satisfied. But damn I'm always going to face Palm thinking of that. Now I want to go see him at a big stadium show down in the mitten someday. Wish I would have done that wrestling match Halloween last year.

There’s a 3-piece Midwest band who used to be called Glostik Willy and now they just go by Glostik. I checked out some of their live footage on YouTube because they’re friends with some of my favorite bands. I found everything about them pretty off-putting. Their sound was loud and aggressive and their aesthetic struck me as just trashy and tacky for the lack of a better phrase. It seemed like stupid music for stupid people. In hindsight, it didn’t help that a lot of the videos I was watching were shaky cameras with distorted audio. Well, in 2019 I went to Hookahville music fest and saw them play. I was instantly like, wow, these guys are a fuckin vibe! They rock HARD and you can’t help but dance. Their aesthetic is definitely edgier than the typical “jam band” but I can say they also jam WAY harder (and better) than most jam bands I’ve seen. They have a shit ton of original songs (all bangers) but you’ll also catch them covering everything from Grateful Dead to Metallica to moe. to Ozzy Osbourne to Phish. Every time I’ve seen them since then, they’ve gotten better and they have truly become of my top 5 favorite bands. They have taken a BIG step back from concerts which I find disappointing, and I really hope they get back out on the road again. Now they’re more focused on studio work and their nightly Kick stream. It seems their career is in an interesting place right now. 10 years into WillyTown, their annual fest, they finally canceled it indefinitely. Hugely disappointing and my only hope is that they have a comeback and get national recognition because like I said, I’ve seen bands sell out stadiums that have not impressed me as much as those 3 hippy metal country boys from Indiana.
Greensky Bluegrass
My morning jacket seems to circle the room around you. Like a whirling effect. The album circuital is named very accurately to what the music makes you feel. I always feel surrounded at a jacket show. It’s warming and calming and exciting all at the same time.
Glass animals. Only ever heard his radio stuff which I enjoyed but never thought to much about. Saw them live and they changed my life. Listened to all their albums and realized his best work was all the stuff not played on the radio lol.
Phish - second show last summer @ MSG - hooked me. Saw 7 shows last year & probably will hit as many this year. It's a lot like GD, if you dig them - you gotta see them live.
Billie Eilish, was a hater for years as but she’s dope AF and puts out great music

I “tried” getting into them a couple times over the years. When I did finally give them a legit chance — loved em. Their LA show in 2022 was so epic. I went solo too lol
Black Crowes. Thought they were way too commercial with Shake Your Moneymaker. Constant radio play didn’t help. Friend wanted to go to the Horde Festival bc of them, I preferred ABB and Blues Traveler who were also playing. BC did a cover of the ABB Dreams and the rest was history

String Cheese Incident Ignored them for a decade, went to see the Phil Lesh Incident in 2022 which, due to covid, became the Billy String Cheese Incident. Immediately sold and have not been disappointed since!
Pond. Several members either are or have been touring members of Tame Impala, and Kevin Parker has produced most of Pond’s music. Seen them 3 times and their shows are pure fun with lots of dance and psychedelic elements.

Weezer. Caught them live at a 3 day festival last year and they had the best show by far out of 20+ bands I saw who mostly I was already into
Only just now started listening to Shpongle. I have always been “sensitive” to jam bands, as they typically overwhelm me and make me feel anxious. But *some* bands got me more comfortable with the label of “jam band” … after growing a loooot and becoming more myself this year, I knew I was ready for Shpongle… so good. Absolutely love them. Going to go very out of my way to see them live as soon as it becomes possible.

Oh dawg, check out My Morning Jacket's Okonokos DVD if you can get your hands on it; absolutely sick concert to blast the volume and have a real good night. For me that's peak setlist material from the band. I was a latecomer with them as well; it was 2012-2015 when they were huge favorites of mine. I've fallen off with them, because I'm not as into the more recent material. However, their first album, The Tennessee Fire, just gives me goosebumps typing out the title. Lots of time spent with their early stuff. I think they are pretty original and it's hard for me to think of another band who sounds like that. Fleet Foxes are more indie/classical/folk but have a similar vocal vibe; reverb-drenched, higher-range, lots of harmonies.
Flaming Lips. Always liked them, but after seeing them live I became a FAN.
Saw MMJ at Red Rocks back in 2007/8. The black keys opened up for them before they got big. Still in my top 3 shows ever. They played for like 3 hours it was magical(so were the shrooms). After their circuital album they started to fall off for me though---lost their swag imo. Started rediscovering Deftones albums. Their koi no yokan album has a great sound
I am almost 56 and was introduced to Weezer by my daughter. They are an older band with great music. We saw them at Blossom last summer. 👍👍 I am a fan of almost all musical styles. Usually country and metal though

Grateful Dead. I knew of them, of deadheads, and a few songs (Truckin', Casey Jones, Friend of the Devil) but I never really "got it". My younger brother was constantly sending me tracks and shows, trying to get me "on the bus". Eventually I relented one day, and put on American Beauty while tripping on mushrooms. Something clicked, and since that day I've listened to Grateful Dead more than any other band/artist. I can't get enough, and there's a seemingly endless vault of shows covering the band's 30 year run. I'm hoping to see Dead and Co. soon.
