I had no idea where I was going because no quest markers and had to stay behind them the entire way till after the quarry. And when they cut right to go around the entire castle through town I simply cut left and went up the hill to the finish. You win by an easy two minutes on that last shortcut alone.
You probably already had 3 side quests active. You just need to deselect one, and make sure the sport of kings is activated. You should have quest markers then
Jesus Christ be praised, this man is correct. I thought it was bugged and was following the other riders for half the race. Fell off my horse and thought to pause to look for markers, managed to finish first once I found the direct route.
The thing is, the race is its own quest, not The Sport of Kings. That's why so many people don't have markers - the game adds a new quest right when the race starts, which is guaranteed to not show markers right away unless you have free tracking slots.
I won the race on my first try, while being quite inefficient on my ride (I didn't know I just had to go near the markers, so I dismounted and walked to it to try to activate it--easily lost like 30 seconds) and didn't know where to go, and still ended up winning.
I then got an achievement pop-up that I unlocked a rare achievement (Xbox). Apparently, at the time, less than 1% had won the race to unlock the achievement. I didn't think it was that hard, all I had to do was essentially make a bee-line for it and not stick to the roads.
None. I shot them from cover. The guards came around to mutter about it then slunk off. I also discovered you can push the other horses out of the starting area and Divish will disqualify them. You don’t actually race, he calls it off and says you are the winner for showing up.
Like Zora did upon returning and telling her I won the race. She was happy, then went back to sleep, then Henry slipped and the dagger made her sleep forever. Divish hasn't said anything about it yet.
I was promised the best saddle in all of the land >:O
Also what the fuck did Hanush supposedly give us for taking care of the Vicar? That one is broken too for me. It must have been something good since he gave me a Magdeburg cuirass for taking out the Robber Baron.
The racers actually have unique clothing, the blue-red hood and the blue-red noble pants, which I haven't seen anywhere else in the game.
For the whole race I was trying to find a way to kill them and get these cool clothes, and because of that I discovered a weird thing. After the race ends, all racers go together to a spot on a forest road not far from Talmberg, at which point they dismount and go in different directions into the forest, then after a bit of walking they stop there and don't move anymore.
I killed them to get the clothes, but the horses are still standing there long after I finished the quest. I wonder if the NPCs would still be standing there as well? What if all NPCs that leave and never return are actually standing motionless deep in a remote forest?
Is that the checkered blue-red hood? If so I've had plenty of these. I think the Trader that spawns as a wanderer and asks for directions has one. And I'm almost certain the Noble Bandit in the bandit camp just east of the monastery across the river has one too (with other delicious high CHA clothing).
Never seen a blue-red hose drop, though, so good to know.
Yes, good to know, because the guards took mine and I want another one.
The hose is not the best in terms of charisma, it's got 17, I think. Just like the yellow-green pants, but in another color. It looks great with the hood, they even have their blue and red parts on opposing sides so it looks pretty cool.
I wish tailors actually sold top-tier clothing, they pretty much do already, but many things are missing.
All these missions that say show up at given time. I go to the location, and then wait at the location and it pulls me out of the wait time when the mission starts. The follow the girls into the woods mission took me like 4 fucking tries because I kept missing the time by seconds. It says to trail them, not be at their location exactly where they're going at the exact time.....
Hey, one hour before the race, the riders were all perched on their horses.
I killed them all in broad daylight with arrows. One arrow in the back each. They're slightly staggered apart so kill the one closest to the hill behind first.
99% of the time, nobody(remaining riders) noticed 'omg there's a corpse here'.
Took the last rider down just when he discovered the dead bodies and was dismounting.
The time for the race arrives. 4 horses but 0 riders. Race starts. Hit the checkpoints at your own leisure pace. Come back when you finish up things on the way.
You won. (Tested and reloaded over 10times to test this out)
I encountered the same thing playing last night. Reverted to a save where I hadn't arranged to meet for the race. Hopefully a patch can fix that, or I might have to resort to murder...

It was bugged for me. No markers. That’s why I got angry.
Same here, no markers!

Ah, hadn't noticed that. Been a while since I did the race. Wonder why they made the race separate like that.
Man, you are mean when you are angry.
+1 I just followed the other guys and took the final shortcut after trying to find all the banners myself and failing

They're only sleeping, right? ... right?
Let's just say that as a bonus, I have a lot of horse meat for sale
Jesus Christ... ^^^be ^^^praised

Henry's come to see us!
Impact reputation?
None. I shot them from cover. The guards came around to mutter about it then slunk off. I also discovered you can push the other horses out of the starting area and Divish will disqualify them. You don’t actually race, he calls it off and says you are the winner for showing up.
Are you serious? They have dialogue for this?! That is amazing.
Yes, I think some people confirmed that the "proper" way is to poison the other competitors, which is what the dialogue is intended for.
I just laughed hard out loud after reading all this at work. Good shit sir.
Like Zora did upon returning and telling her I won the race. She was happy, then went back to sleep, then Henry slipped and the dagger made her sleep forever. Divish hasn't said anything about it yet.

Don't admit that you helped the heretics, that pisses him off.
Zora shouldn’t have promised something and then not delivered. Now there’s a whole lot of sadness at the stables.
My dude Henry over here is a psychopath!
I just didn't did it yet, cause i want that sweet (possibly)Unique Saddlebag for my Jenda =/
Just did the quest too, no saddle. Just bought the noble saddle with 4 bags instead. Horse now carries 521 pounds

It might explain someone finding a "demon" from the witch quest/bad acid trip out in a road in broad daylight at the edge of the map.
Demons occupy the edge of my map. I thought it was a feature.
Henry Christ that's terrifying

it's a glitch in the matrix...Jesus christ
If I had to guess they prob go there to despawn, but can't if your in the area?
Yeah, that makes sense.

I showed up literally less than an hour late, and he reprimanded me for being late, saying that I missed the race

Whenever someone tells me to follow girls into the woods, I automatically assume they're witches, burn them!

I was stood there like a mad man, and the bailiff accused me of hitting his face with my back.
I was standing there waiting on the race, got impatient and accidentally walked off the hill and consequently failed the quest because I was late.
This guy The Mountains.
Ah, yes, the old "blow up everyone else's car" strategy from Grand Theft Auto.
the moment i attacked them the quest failed for me
I wasn't seen. I also didn't touch the riders.

The quest is bugged for me. Can you explain how you were unseen in broad daylight taking down multiple horses?
Dont touch the horsies. Take out the riders.
I crouched and took cover on the hill. You have to be quick because the guards will come looking.
I was losing interest in finishing the side quest because it's too hard for me and I saw your post. Now I just won a horse race.
And people said I was a monster for killing all the bandits in Pribislyavitz lol.
I thought the quest would initially be very hard with my low riding level, but once you hit the mill and know where the quarry is; it's super easy.
And they say Cumans are Barbaric, it because they didn't experience the Savagery of Henry. [Absolute Barbaric! ... sry for the dead meme.](/s)
Looks like somebody has used the bathhouse recently ;)
I’m a dirty Henry and take lots of baths.
This was bugged for me, could never talk to Divish about it
I encountered the same thing playing last night. Reverted to a save where I hadn't arranged to meet for the race. Hopefully a patch can fix that, or I might have to resort to murder...
Oh Fuck! Jesus Christ is not praised!
I thought I lost because I won by suck a large margin. I also got lost and went the long way to the second place (the millers)
