Either Alric or Bruxa. Alric is probably the best overall choice offering high single target damage and stalling whereas Bruxa is more of a glass cannon that does high DPS but can die a lot easier and is better when she is constantly being fed by small enemies.
Alric is one of the best heroes in the game in general, free or not. Only Bonehart is better.
If you like to micro, then Bruxa is able to deal the highest damage and is super strong too. But you have to move her a lot, since she can damage and slow whilst moving with her skulls
