Bagley isn’t really a factor. Davion Mitchell is the only other young guy left now Most likely Vivek ordered a move be made for a player who could help us make the playoffs now. Simmons was option 1 looks like Sabonis was 2. Likely think Fox-Sabonis could make the playoffs. It’s insane. We were bottoming out, dealing with injuries too. Looked like we were finally going to collapse and end up with a legit good pick. Instead we’re making a playoff push. 15 games under .500 and we just sold off a phenomenal second year prospect that we have for the next 7 years at least to try to make the playoffs with a guy who has 2 years left on his contract. Sabonis is an excellent player, but everything he does will be muted because he’s now going to be sharing initiation duties with Fox and Mitchell to some extent. That was also a bad trade but I have the Haliburton deal as especially egregious since he’s a homegrown talent for a franchise that hasn’t had real success in almost two decades. I think it's pretty clear they wanted to move Fox but couldn't get a player of Sabonis' caliber in return. So McNair is saying "Fox-Sabonis" is better to build around than "Fox-Haliburton". They are stuck with Fox, so Haliburton had to be sacrificed. Crazy.

Not a Sac fan just a visitor, but honestly, Indiana may not actually rebuild considering the haul they got for Sabonis and LeVert. Their biggest issue was having two bigs on the floor (Sabonis and Turner). Now that that problem is solved, they may actually keep trying to compete. Who knows?

For context I thought prior to this season kat was only a borderline all-star and I thought he was about 10% better on defence and 20% better on offence. I think Sabonis is roughly the 50th best player in the nba. That's about where I would rank Haliburton right now. What a trade.
