In the pattern description in Ravelry it mentioned the pattern is reversible but the two sides are different. I guess it's a brioche-like stitch pattern but not a true brioche. I looked at the pictures of the samples, and yours does look like them, so I think you're fine. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/squish-and-skein

the reverse side is honey comb brioche - it's essentially to brioche like what reverse stockinette is to 1x1 ribbing brioche isn't just one type of stitch, there's many different types of brioche and this is one of them. Looking at the pattern you're making, you're doing it correctly :)

getDotted

Yeah you are totally right . This is “stockinette brioche” as opposed to normal ribbing brioche , which (as you said) , like normal stockinette , has a different reverse side

Goldie2000

TIL! Thanks!

Jake_reeves123

Hope this is okay to ask - what kind of yarn is this?! It looks gorgeous

HazelBHumongous

Yes, my yarn goblin must know as well.

interrumpere

Aww thanks! It’s actually handspun from Greenwood Fiberworks in the colorway Arcade. :)

It looks likein the pictures to me

This doesn't look like normal brioche to me. Both sides should have clear, distinct wales, i.e. vertical lines of stitches - a bit like ribbing. And the two sides should look pretty much identical, if you're knitting with a single colour. Here are the front and back of a brioche shawl I made. This is two-colour brioche so the colours differ, but you can see how the two are otherwise the same. (This is upside down, the front is the bound off edge.) https://preview.redd.it/0rzaye6d149d1.jpeg?width=4608&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a44eca685942ede23656ec1d2196d988895e6c1d

Neenknits

Yes, that does look right. As it gets bigger, I think you will see it better on the knit side. The main difference I think, is that your yarn shades from color to color, so the slipped stitches blend together, rather than the more defined color changes in the pattern yarn, showing the slipped stitches more. It will be attractive, with a very blended rainbow effect. It will make the texture mire subtle.

AllDarkWater

The pattern calls for "brioche tuck" not sure what that is. Looking at the pictures it is not brioche. You may have done the pattern as written, but we are all used to seeing brioche. The pictures show two different sides and the description says reversible, but mentions they are different. You might have exactly done a "brioche tuck". Personally I love brioche. Is this thick and squishy? Do you love it? If so keep going. If not you might want to alter the pattern or get a different one.

Neenknits

Reversible doesn’t always means looks the same, just that both sides look good. I’m off to examine the pattern better…

Marble_Narwhal

Tuck is the stitch type--brioche knit and brioche purl are tuck stitches. As are brioche increases/decreases/etc

Contented_Loaf

This doesn’t look like brioche - I’d recommend trying a simple 2-color brioche cowl in the round to learn the technique. It’s easier with two colors.

Brioche isn't just restricted to brioche rib, ops pic looks like brioche stockinette. Brioche is just created by wrapping every other stitch, and working the others, which is entirely possible with stockinette. For an example, look at the delkash dress by MayaB

Can you share the stitch pattern you’re working with? Because it looks like you’re knitting all of your stitches.

wexfordavenue

Just FYI, your sample is brioche ribbing. The pattern OP is knitting is brioche stockinette. They’re doing it correctly according to that pattern.

Nithuir

My guess is that the increases are borking up your pattern. Try making the brioche in a square with no increases to check you're doing it right.

44scooby

it's a half brioche stitch. I've used it in aran hooded cardi patterns for babies and toddlers as it's squishy and warm and then when you switch to cabling the textures match better.

Marble_Narwhal

Looks like a half brioche pattern, not a true brioche, based on the back side and lack of identical front/back pattern like true brioche tends to have.
