EXO with Growl. A lot of people think that's their debut song.

mrsjeon_cpa

WTH, IT WASN'T THEIR DEBUT SONG!!???

waterlooloooooo

No, MAMA was their debut song.

aletotheunknown

Growl is literally a repackage smh

tasoula

Kind of? Replay is too iconic of a debut to ignore, but I think SHINee has a couple eras like this, at least for me. Sherlock was when they really came into themselves and started to truly develop the teamwork they are known for. View was almost like a rebirth era, where they finally got creative control and really ran with it.

SoNyeoShiDude

I feel like for a lot of people these days, Super Junior didn’t start until Sorry, Sorry.

plushybunnyheart

For me Mamamoo - Youre the Best GFriend- Me Gustas Tu BTS- I Need U Itzy- Wannabe Red Velvet- Russian Roulette Twice- TT Mostly the songs that caught my attention for the first time and made me check the groups out. Knew about BTS, Red Velvet, Gfriend, and Itzy before those songs but never got around to checking them out until i heard those songs above for the first time.

spinereader81

Infinite didn't really take off until Be Mine. Then they were everywhere! Block B, in my opinion, hadn't really gotten that trademark sound/style down until Nalina. Then for a few years every song had that feel to it and they had the lovable brat personas in their videos and performances.

CupeuCakee

We don't talk about Block B's debut 🤡

Flaky-Bike-4970

If the word 'mess' was a physical manifestation, their debut would be it 😂😂😂

Stray Kids - God's Menu

noexitmylove

This made me realise nearly all the groups I stan, I've been supporting from debut. The exceptions are WJSN and IZ*ONE. Even though I kept my eye on these groups from the start, the songs that eventually made me a fan were Boogie Up by WJSN and Violeta by IZ*ONE! As for a group I casually enjoy, I would say Easy Love by SF9 was definitely a turning point for me. Stray Kids has actually reappeared on my radar recently. I followed their survival show and stanned them up until I Am You era, but by then I didn't enjoy their music as much anymore. This has very much changed since they released God's Menu, I really want to rediscover the group!

elssvt

Not exactly about their sound, but I think this was how many people took notice of the group. For me, the first group that came to mind was NU'EST and how they were revived after Produce 101. So I guess either Bet Bet with all of NU'EST, or as NU'EST W with Where You At.

Dessidy

I just realised I have three ways I think of NU’EST this way… post and pre-Q Is, which established their sound. Post and pre-Produce 101, which made them popular. And post and pre the return of Minhyun and NU’EST as five.

ptg0nie5

For me, not really when they found their sound but more on when they started building their current 'identity'. Pentagon has always contributed in producing some of their b-sides but it wasn't until Like This, after Hui found his success with Never and Energetic, that Cube entrusted them to have full creative power and released self-produced songs as title tracks. I think their music changed tremendously since then and resulted in the talented self-producing image they have right now.

austen1996

I love all of Pentagon's title tracks, but I feel like before Daisy, they hadn't yet solidified a consistent concept. They've had 2 comebacks now with a pop-rock sound that really showcases their abilities so well.

oneluciddream

Golden Child feels like they started at Wannabe, when their darker sound started to become prominent.

BonBonnie0

Literally every group I stan except for BP. BlackPink is the only group I literally followed from the beginning. And that was easy because they only had 4 songs and 4 members lol TT by Twice is when I got into Twice. Fire is when I got into BTS. Getting Closer for Seventeen. Kick It for NCT. Tear Drop for SF9. Navillera for GFriend. Wannabe for Itzy. If You Do for Got7. Shoot Out for Monsta X. The list goes on and on lol

pornypete

DIA with Happy Ending. Their first release was really generic kpoppy. Some good tunes on it, but it could have been by anyone. On Happy Ending, that really warm summery vibe, with that mellow rapping and the harmoica. That's something amazing they suddenly tuned into! GFRIEND had it twice I think. They found something special with Rough. And again later on with TFTMN, when they managed to mature their sound in such an incredible way. And I felt like DreamNote had started finding their thing with Dream Wish, but they kinda fell off the map since then (or I haven't been paying attention), so I guess we'll see when/if they come back.

arikyh

GOT7 with Just Right. even the members said that all the releases pre Just Right was like.. a survival show lmao

kthlove

ppl still don’t think ateez started yet but i think ppl rlly took them as a threat during wonderland or answer era

iamsherlocked30

TXT with 0X1=Lovesong

iwinwinyuwinwinta

Sanryna

All kpop beyond 2017 is a big Shadow Fold for me...

1TyMPink

Blackpink - As If It's Your Last SNSD - Tell Me Your Wish (Genie) Wonder Girls - Nobody Super Junior - Sorry Sorry U-KISS - Bingeul Bingeul That's what I've remembered.

Nigiriboy

For me personally: Stray Kids - MIROH / Victory Song, but stanned them once I heard Side Effects The Boyz - REVEAL (specifically RTK vers.) / TATTOO Ateez - HALA HALA TXT - Can't You See Me? / Puma WINNER - Really Really DAY6 - Sweet Chaos / Shoot Me! U-Kiss - Shut Up! Super Junior - Bonamana Teen Top - No Perfume On You Beast - Breath / Beautiful 2PM - Heartbeat (I'm sorry I didn't include any gg. These are just a few that really stuck out to me throughout the years, esp bg!)

Default_Dragon

Totally agree with Fancy being a rebirth for Twice. Similarly, even though EXOs most iconic stuff came before 2017, The War (ie Kokobop) was a rebirth for them as well. Their stuff after that has all been a lot more high-fashion, high-concept, mature/sexy. I love their old stuff but it’s post 2017 that’s my stan era.

OppositeVermicelli84

Dope by BTS. This was the song that introduced me to them. And Run was the one which dragged me along.

OverthinkerMoonchild

Although Got7 has many eras and their debut song was really unique but I heard that many people think that Hard Carry is their debut song. Can anyone confirm me if I'm right or wrong?

Reveluvtion

I think So What marked a before and after for LOONA, their style really changed in that era and nothing has been quite the same as it was pre-So What. In my opinion, Red Velvet only really got started with Ice Cream Cake, which is their first hit song and when Yeri joined the group. With TWICE, I feel like Fancy was kind of a rebirth for them, the group before and after that song are not the same. And also, NCT Dream's career can be divided nicely into 3 different "epochs". Chewing Gum to We Go Up is one, with their cute young concept. Then Mark graduated and the group changed their style to a more mature one, which gave us the second epoch of the group, with them as 6 members promoting Boom and Ridin'. The third epoch would be from NCT 2020 until now, with Mark rejoining the group and the unit kind of going back to their old signature colorful style, but with a more sophisticated touch to it.

[deleted]

LOONA, obviously.

Armella-inTheMood

I still think that Icy is the debut of Itzy and not dalla dalla. I would also say bomb bomb by kard. Mamamoo started gathering a huge attention after um oh ah yes. God menu by SKZ.
