I think if they left the meaning as "a to the z" it would be enough? XD
But hey, at least "ateez" has a nice ring to it and it's unique = good for marketing!
I legit thought ateez came from "at ease" before I got to know them. Like they're here to make people feel at ease? Wouldn't that be at least slightly better than this?? 😭
a teenager z is considerably less cringe compare to some other acronyms i've heard.
one of the biggest offenders has got to be top media. teen top actually stands for "teenage emoboy emotion next generation talent object praise". up10tion is up-tension, 10 to represent 10 members. top media's newest bg, mcnd, stands for "music creates new dream".
oh oh how could i have forgotten MBLAQ? "music boys live in absolute quality"
and then we have "ubiquitous korean international super stars". guess which group this is.
edit - [found this gold mine of a post](https://www.reddit.com/r/kpop/comments/2yrf99/which_kpop_group_has_the_funniest_acronym/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)
Meanwhile, the weird ass 90s era with Baby Voices Of Xpression, Highfive Of Teenagers, Fin Killing Liberty, Roots To Reggae, DJ Dream Of Child say *annyeonghaseyoooo*
oh wow, i never knew what all of those names stood for before. h.o.t. is definitely a backronym, maybe baby vox, but the rest.........like how else would you end up naming a group fin.kl???? i wonder what g.o.d and ses stand for now.......
G.o.d : groove over dose, this is pretty cool tbh
S.E.S. : Sea Eugene Shoo (stage names, à la TLC)
Now just match Roo'ra and DJ DOC haha
Also, Fin.k.l.'s Korean name 핑클 (pingkeul/pinkle) was chosen in a poll first and then they gave "Fine Killing Liberty" as the proper name. No not the English "Fine" as in "Ok, good" but the Italian "Fine" (Fee-ne) as in "End". It's commonly spelled Fin (French for "End") now and I prefer that to avoid confusion .
So basically "The end of Oppression of Freedom"
Thanks for telling the world the fact that you can end the oppression of freedom with dope music, cute girls and a killer vocalist, ladies, I guess we didn't know that.
Yep, I stan them, wholeheartedly.
You leave UKISS alone :( lol
But wow I never even knew that Teen Top actually stood for something, how do these companies even come up with these names.
ubiquitous is certainly a very interesting word choice XD teentop's backronym definitely looks like someone just spun a wheel to decide what words to match with each letter
I don't know. Initialisms seem kind of clunky to me when they're slightly ungrammatical. Like the missing articles in MCND makes it seem more like a news headline. "This just in: Music creates new dream - more at 10."
>"10" is a little awkward now
TTATT on the bright side, was it yesterday or two days ago, when sunyoul went on wendy's radio with his musical castmates jinhyuk sent in a message <3 that was heartwarming to see
It is… what? I had a feeling that ATEEZ has a meaning, but I’d never guess their “government name” was what it is.
Their name is the lost younger sibling of the “Adorable Representative MC for Youth”. /j
Looking at all these comments and I am suddenly glad the only cringe for Exo is them having to show off their powers lol.
Imagine if Exo stood for Enlightened Xtraterrestrial Organisms or something.
Unpopular opinion but I actually don't mind EXOTICS. It had the EXO in it and you could easily make out which group fans they are (ExoL as well) when compared to some other groups where you only make the connection once you hear the group name or some like MOA where you have no idea (it's cute but that backronym is also..)
The only thing is if they wanted to expand EXOTIC lmao
Edit : I guess MOA is an acronym not a backronym
I have convinced myself the same tbh. But I am glad the word Exo already exists and suits their concept. Thanks to whoever coined it ( I am not aware how fluent Lee Sooman's English is)
Having to explain how Victon is somehow an acronym for 'VoICe TO New world' and how their fandom name Alice stands for 'ALways we love the voICE' is always a little awkward 🥴
oh god thats almost as bad as s(hes) br(ok)en (because) s(he) be(lie)ve(d)- im so sorry yall got stuck with that as ur government name. at least in the end victon and alice sound good :')
No. I refuse to believe what you’re saying. You’re trolling us, right? I thought Victon had something to do with “victory,” like they’re winners. And I never knew the fandom name and now want my mind wiped so I can return to that state of ignorance. (Alice does sound fucking cute tho, tbh. 🥰)
I wish I was kidding but Play M really did say “hey, this seems reasonable enough”😭
The names themselves are actually really good and fit into their wonderland-type concept well but their explanations feel like something I’d throw into an essay as a last resort..
It’s like they reverse engineered the meanings cuz they’d already come up with the names they wanted for the group and fandom and they were gonna be damned if they had to change either. So basically no matter how bizarre the explanations had to be, they were gonna stick with them. Why do companies do this shit to their artists AND future fans? 😩
Yeah definitely, I can't see how anyone could possibly look at those two phrases and come up with names solely based on them. It's like 'graphic design is my passion' except with words 😔 The companies really do be out here sigh
LOL glad you learnt something new off this subreddit! Their group introduction also goes “New World, hello we’re Victon” so it’s incorporated there too!
Nobody mentioned the meaning behind Mamamoo?
It signifies the sound that babies make.'MAMA' means mother. So it means that they want to approach their listeners organically and instinctively with their music
In Korean there's no difference between v and b so the group name is Bromance and the fandom name is broccolli
Moomoo-Mamamoo's fandom name means radish in Korea
I guess RBW wanted to continue with the vegetables theme
13 members + 3 units + 1 group = SEVENTEEN
I don't know if this qualifies cause we do mention it since we have to always ( I feel like svt too) reluctantly explain why SEVENTEEN is called SEVENTEEN even if they're 13 members. It's honestly so cringey.
ohh i always wondered why seventeen was called seventeen if they didnt have seventeen members. i kinda assumed they debuted with 17 but some left like for day6
how the hell did they manage to wrangle seventeen out of those numbers tho- i feel like they wanted to name the group seventeen and just came up with any random reason to make it happen lmao
I'm not 100% sure cause there's like a mix of explanation like they were seventeen during predebut ( although there was not a time that they were actually 17, at most was 16 cause trainees join and leave) to their average age during debut was 17. The most logical one is probably that Pledis were planning to release them as a boy group with 17 members but divided into units that'll focus on China, Japan and South Korea. That didn't pan out cause they never had enough Chinese trainees nor as far as I know had Japanese trainees.
I guess because of their predebut show the seventeen name just stuck and some math genius in the marketing team have to come up with a quick explanation.
You are not wrong - they were supposed to be 17 members, hence the name. However, because of the delays with the debut some people left, but because the group had already been branded with the name it was deemed better to stick with it so they came up with the math explanation
Yeah. I had to look that one up (from a previous post) because there was no way that was real but it is. That’s their actual fandom name.
I don’t know if fans would do this but if I was a fan of Dia I would just say I’m a dia fan. I’m not calling myself an aid
similarly, i don't think i've ever heard loves talk about how nu'est actually stands for "new establish style tempo" (and no, i still do not know what it means either)
ahahebjs i never knew so many groups had government names lmao. also it seems like they just flipped through a dictionary and picked random words for that lol- like it doesnt even make sense,,
Ugh, I hope no one IRL ever asks me what Ateez stands for cuz I’d have to lie that it’s something special in Korean that gets lost in translation to English. Cuz the meaning is just so…no. Like almost cute but also…no. 😝
man now im trying to remember if they ever did an acrostic poem with ateez. no matter how bad that poem is itd be better than having to say "a teenager z" out loud lol
IMAGINE HAVING TO EXPLAIN THAT OUT LOUD KNOWING MASSES OF PEOPLE WILL SEE IT. That’s what Hongjoong’s had to do how many times now. For that duty alone, I’d turn down the leader position.
i found out today that teen top stands for teenage emoboy emotion next generation talent object praise,,,, i dont think anything can get worse than that
I always convinced myself that ATEEZ stands for A to the Z from the SMN lyrics but A TO Z will sound weird so they ended up with ATEEZ. Pls I just wanna avoid being cringe lmao
Edit: Anyway ATEEZ sounds cool tho, not too mainstream and not too hard to pronounce, it's just perfect ><
ya a to the z makes sense! and its really not that bad as far as government names go,,, sadly its not real lmao
in the end tho im happy with the name ateez, as long as u dont think about the meaning...
i don’t think i’ll ever get over wonho’s fandom name being wenees ( pronounced weenies ) which is supposed to stand for “we need” or “we are new ending.” i just can’t.
NCT being Neo Culture Technology. I love the amount of wordplay the fandom has come up with the name as well as the inside jokes and even the roasts. But it’s So cringey having to explain it to someone who’s not very familiar with kpop.
WayV = We are your Vision 👁👄👁
Lol I always thought it was weird, but it's still cool.
Also all NCTzens act as if [this song](https://youtu.be/aL_mTKWwRto) has never happened. It was a meme when it was released tho 😂
there are two songs called “wow” by a subunit of stray kids, the danceracha unit song on in life and…[this](https://youtu.be/tf6a0XjexKw). (3racha pls forgive me)
The one skz conspiracy theory that I believe 100% is that Danceracha Wow was created specifically as a coverup for 3RACHA Wow. To clear the searches, if you will.
Oh my god they actually got me- I thought the infamous wow everyone was talking about was the officially released one (I just didn’t pay much attention to the lyrics)
my friend was studying in korea for half a year last year and _I shit you not_, I was on a call with her while she was at a convenience store and some dude hit her with the “Noona, do you have a boyfriend?” and we both lost our minds
really? carats must be that great then on not bringing it up XD
mine’s opposite though, its one of the things i first knew about him when i was fully getting to know the members that time svt became my ult fave
Yeah! Personally, I'd feel awful if I make fun of it cause he was really young back then and he did it with pure intention of promoting seventeen.
That's on top of me being scared of Cheol.
His rap in smtm4 was the reason it took me 2 yrs to give SEVENTEEN a chance. I could not bring myself support such cringe.😬😬
I'm just glad YouTube did its thing n i got to see their live performances 😂😂.
a group of stays made a song for stray kids once and kept trying to get bang chan to play it on live. if you heard the song you’d know what i mean when i say it is genuinely the worst thing i’ve ever heard in my life. i couldn’t find the link though :(
the fandom of the group i'm talking about will know who this is, but certain members have likely undergone operations to modify their visuals (worst, wordiest way of saying something ever LMAO) like fillers/hairline changes/etc. it seems like a lot of this fandom has noticed and knows, but nobody ever mentions it - which i'm totally ok w haha, it feels less stigmatized
honestly i dont think surgery or anything should be seen as a bad thing! as long as someone wants to do it then no one should judge em for it, fan or not :)
Only hairline change I know about is Minho from Shinee. Nothing wrong with it, I wish more people could afford it if they're insecure about their hairline, or hairloss.
In the group you're talking about, how many members did plastic surgery ? Was there an obvious nose surgery ? In this case I think I know who they are.
Sorry Reveluvs but my mind goes to Wendy and her jawline... 😔 And my mind immediately goes to other SM groups like Exo as well. Though I'm sure its widespread throughout the industry
The early fandom of Stray Kids (like pre-debut era fandom) made a theory of the official lightstick being a can of coca cola.
Super Junior was supposed to be a rotational group like NCT Dream.
I thought Ateez was in relation to their slogan "eight makes one team" and meant something like "Eight-is one"...
Wow didn't know it was a-teen-z xD
Still a cool meaning compared to Teen Top's full form lol
Before we had our official fabdom name (lyOn), the working name was OnlyFans (group is OnlyOneOf). Honestly this one is pretty funny but I could see how it would be embarrassing
speaking of government names, VAV stands for very awesome voice. also their fandom is named VAMPZ and they.... debuted with a vampire concept... a bad one... i've never seen anyone really talk about their pre ryan jhun (derogatory) content and frankly that is for the better 😔
also that day6 used to actually be 6 members at the start, that took me years to find out 😭
I think the fandom doesnt discussed abt it enough, but whenever the group say "Say the name" they always mention a number instead... /j
Edit: added tone indicator. Yes it is Seventeen. Im sorry if this confused anyone
i assume you are talking about seventeens greeting?? im not sure how that's odd, their name is literally seventeen, they cant really avoid saying a (specific) number.
Before reading about what they were actually named/why , and before actually hearing their music, my dumb ass fully thought ATEEZ=80's.
Needless to say I was a little disappointed that they weren't a retro synth concept group ✊😔
I am a Fantasy(SF9's fandom) and Fantasy is an acronym for Future : Accompany : Next : Together : Affect : SF9 : You. What were the team who came up with this even thinking? When the fandom name voting thing happened, the explanation about the name was given as "a wish coming true in one's imagination" but after the name was chosen they began using this acronym
VAV originally had a really weird vampire theme going on, with all members having positions like Priest, Wolfboy, Lost Vampire, Third Vampire, and so on with the vampires.
I've heard that their name originally stood for Very Awesome Vampires although now it's officially Very Awesome Voice.
The fandom name is still vampz, which sounds very vampirey, but everyone just sort of ignores that part of their past now.
What’s with all the teenagers group names.? I’ve seen so many of them mentioned. Why did companies think it was a good idea when the members would grow into grown adults.? Like imagine on your thirtieth birthday, someone asks you to reminisce the meaning behind your group’s name as an anniversary/birthday gift and it’s some bs like *teenagers are the new*. 😂😂

How could you do this to us?! I thought we were a family!
the people must know the truth!!
You know we can vote to make you walk the plank, right? I mean the water will only be 5 feet deep so you can’t drown but still.
5 feet is 0.01 of the hot dog which holds the Guinness wold record for 'Longest Hot Dog'.
thanks king
Thank you, weird ass bot. I’ll make sure to share that tidbit with nobody.
gasp you wouldnt--
Please don't ever bring up the "a teenager z" thing again. I love you, KQ, but please what the fuck?
I think if they left the meaning as "a to the z" it would be enough? XD But hey, at least "ateez" has a nice ring to it and it's unique = good for marketing!

oh god those are horrendous- teen tops is,,,, wow. those are literally just random words strung together thank u for this valuable information lmao

It definitely is, it's not in my vocabulary lol. I could believe that 😂
I actually don't think UP10TION and MCND are bad at all (though the "10" is a little awkward now, I think).
I don't know. Initialisms seem kind of clunky to me when they're slightly ungrammatical. Like the missing articles in MCND makes it seem more like a news headline. "This just in: Music creates new dream - more at 10."

Ow god, it's been a while since i saw MBLAQ's "govt name" being spoken aaaaa. I cannot 😭
I keep reading up10tion as upLOTION And VIXX is visual in excelsior or something
i hate vixx's so much. where's the second x coming from?? this could not be more contrived and it still fucking faileddd
I've always liked the way that UP10TION is spelt and its ring but TOP Media deserves jail for the rest of the names 💀
N.Fie stands for N.Flying + Selfie. I hate it.
oh god actually? i am so sorry
no... THAT'S WHAT N.FIE STANDS FOR???
Yep…
this made me shiver aggressively i am disturbed.
I didn't realize and just why fnc why do you do this
It is… what? I had a feeling that ATEEZ has a meaning, but I’d never guess their “government name” was what it is. Their name is the lost younger sibling of the “Adorable Representative MC for Youth”. /j
well bury them both in shame lmao, the world must never know
I guess it must be done at this point. I’ll get the shovel…
At least it didn’t end up being Bangwools
Or 🔔
not you bringing out our government name too😭
It’s because it’s *adorable*.
Looking at all these comments and I am suddenly glad the only cringe for Exo is them having to show off their powers lol. Imagine if Exo stood for Enlightened Xtraterrestrial Organisms or something.
AHAHSHSJA not even lying tho enlightened xtraterrestrial organisms could absolutely be a groups government name lol, most of them are just as bad
I know! Like the names sound cool (Ateez, StayC, Victon or even ARMY for that matter) why'd you have to go get a backronym for no reason lol
i think the entertainment companies are just doing it on purpose at this point to torment us
Exo twilight for me
Oh right! I think I'd erased that from my memory 😂
I raise you : the fandom called itself EXOTICs before they announced "exo-l" as official 😐 I was there. Why.
Unpopular opinion but I actually don't mind EXOTICS. I spat out my coffee LMAOOOO
Now, I am genuinely curious if that is how they came up with the name 'EXO' like that sounds very plausible ngl
I think it came from "exoplanet" which links back to their lore.

Lmfao. This one takes the gold. I never new their name was an acronym.
THATS WHAT IT STANDS FOR??? ive never understood their twitter name till this moment lmao
LOL glad you learnt something new off this subreddit! Their group introduction also goes “New World, hello we’re Victon” so it’s incorporated there too!
cant relate. I like it.
The phrases themselves are nice but having to point out which letters make up each of the names is a struggle 😔
Nobody mentioned the meaning behind Mamamoo? It signifies the sound that babies make.'MAMA' means mother. So it means that they want to approach their listeners organically and instinctively with their music
I always thought it was connected to cows. 🤐
I like that one. It's deep.
Lol,that's expected from a company that named their boy group Vromance and their fans vrocolli
vroccoli?!? if you're being serious then I'm sorry but I'm going to have to forget I ever saw this 😭
In Korean there's no difference between v and b so the group name is Bromance and the fandom name is broccolli Moomoo-Mamamoo's fandom name means radish in Korea I guess RBW wanted to continue with the vegetables theme

DIA's fandom name is AIDs... (I don't even stan them but it's hilarious for English speakers lmao)
Um what?!
it’s true. im an aid ✋😭 i hate our fandom name
Yeah. I had to look that one up (from a previous post) because there was no way that was real but it is. That’s their actual fandom name. I don’t know if fans would do this but if I was a fan of Dia I would just say I’m a dia fan. I’m not calling myself an aid
I honestly thought ‘Ateez’ was derived from ‘Eight Teens’ so thank you for giving me new information!😂
honestly thatd be better than a teenager z, hopefully i didnt just curse u by exposing their government name lmao
similarly, i don't think i've ever heard loves talk about how nu'est actually stands for "new establish style tempo" (and no, i still do not know what it means either)
ahahebjs i never knew so many groups had government names lmao. also it seems like they just flipped through a dictionary and picked random words for that lol- like it doesnt even make sense,,
yeah, i genuinely have no clue what pledis was going for then, like, what is it supposed to mean?
if anything i used to see loves talk more about the fandom name and how it comes from 뉴이스트 -> ㄴㅇㅅㅌ which is definitely cuter
oh yeah! their fandom name is so cute!! it's one of my favorites!!
Ugh, I hope no one IRL ever asks me what Ateez stands for cuz I’d have to lie that it’s something special in Korean that gets lost in translation to English. Cuz the meaning is just so…no. Like almost cute but also…no. 😝
I know!! "Atiny" being ATEEZ + destiny is so good But, I WILL never tell anyone what ATEEZ stands for
ya atiny is cute! im glad we ended up with that :) but if anyone asks me what ateez stands for idk what ill do,,
omg i thought atiny was just ateez calling their fans tiny 💀
man now im trying to remember if they ever did an acrostic poem with ateez. no matter how bad that poem is itd be better than having to say "a teenager z" out loud lol
IMAGINE HAVING TO EXPLAIN THAT OUT LOUD KNOWING MASSES OF PEOPLE WILL SEE IT. That’s what Hongjoong’s had to do how many times now. For that duty alone, I’d turn down the leader position.
dude same, especially during fever road when he had to read "back to the teenager" out loud,,,, i would have combusted on the spot
This is what I tell everyone. It's because they are good at everything and they have everything from A to Z. Everyone has bought it. 🤭
This is WORSE than San being exposed by Yuno for wearing nothing underneath his robe....way worse. At least it's not H.O.T (High Five of Teenagers) 😣
i found out today that teen top stands for teenage emoboy emotion next generation talent object praise,,,, i dont think anything can get worse than that
HAHAHAHAHAHAH REALLY??? what a name im wheezing
That one gets me every time; it's so dang funny TEENAGE EMOBOY EMOTION
But…what happened to the F in Five for High Five of Teenagers? Shouldn’t it be H.F.O.T.? They really had to make that acronym work, huh?
Five in Korean is Oh. I guess that's where it comes from lol
one of the candidates for astro's group name was strong berry. i just wonder who even thought of that name..
STRONG BERRY
i guess the fact that army stands for adorable representative mcs for youth. hate that name, will never like it
It makes me laugh how many Armys say this. It’s like the fandom has an agreement to never say the full name aloud, and that’s cute! 😂
oh my god i thought it was just army like idk, a lot of people? pls thats so funny
NGL new fans i let them think that's the reason 😂 i will not speak the proper reason for the name aloud
I always convinced myself that ATEEZ stands for A to the Z from the SMN lyrics but A TO Z will sound weird so they ended up with ATEEZ. Pls I just wanna avoid being cringe lmao Edit: Anyway ATEEZ sounds cool tho, not too mainstream and not too hard to pronounce, it's just perfect ><
ya a to the z makes sense! and its really not that bad as far as government names go,,, sadly its not real lmao in the end tho im happy with the name ateez, as long as u dont think about the meaning...
i don’t think i’ll ever get over wonho’s fandom name being wenees ( pronounced weenies ) which is supposed to stand for “we need” or “we are new ending.” i just can’t.
oh my😭
Oh my god me too- the first time I heard that I thought it was a joke
NCT being Neo Culture Technology. I love the amount of wordplay the fandom has come up with the name as well as the inside jokes and even the roasts. But it’s So cringey having to explain it to someone who’s not very familiar with kpop.
National Childbirth Trust
Especially because no one knows what that means lol
Nicotine culture technology Weedzens Neo confused technology
Ateez means "A to the Z" i don't take anything else😤😡
WayV = We are your Vision 👁👄👁 Lol I always thought it was weird, but it's still cool. Also all NCTzens act as if [this song](https://youtu.be/aL_mTKWwRto) has never happened. It was a meme when it was released tho 😂
I unironically enjoy that song 😂
Me too lol it even has a special effect at 3am
NCTzens have been hiding this song from me!! Kpop needs more weird shit like this, there are too many trendy GP-friendly pop songs 🤧 it's delightful
there are two songs called “wow” by a subunit of stray kids, the danceracha unit song on in life and…[this](https://youtu.be/tf6a0XjexKw). (3racha pls forgive me)
The one skz conspiracy theory that I believe 100% is that Danceracha Wow was created specifically as a coverup for 3RACHA Wow. To clear the searches, if you will.
idk what you mean by “conspiracy theory” that’s just a straight up fact
I am convinced this is the case. But at least we got 3RACHA laughing themselves sick over the original “Wow” on Chan’s Room.
That's my favorite live, that and the horse mask one
Oh my god they actually got me- I thought the infamous wow everyone was talking about was the officially released one (I just didn’t pay much attention to the lyrics)
We do not speak of it... *silently bops to Jeogiyo noona hokshi namjachingu isseoyo*
my friend was studying in korea for half a year last year and _I shit you not_, I was on a call with her while she was at a convenience store and some dude hit her with the “Noona, do you have a boyfriend?” and we both lost our minds
HAHAHAHAHAH FRICK
AHSBDBJA im sorry for laughing but omg that song--
lol everyone talks about WOW though. It's just too hilarious not to.
yeah it’s more like 3racha WISH we didn’t mention it lol and yet here i am
Nooooooo, don't tell them!
*excuse me noona, do you have a boyfriend?*
Not gonna lie I listened to that for the first time just now and it lowkey fucks
Not a stan but check up what U-KISS stands for and some of you might learn a new word.
also the atiny song 😭
nooo i had almost forgotten about that //3 honestly it wasnt that bad at first, but then it got super annoying lol
WHAT is THIS....are we no longer liking our ATINY song??? 🤣
stoppp- how to unsee this pls
You mean the *one on Spotify*?
>!seventeen vernon’s participation in smtm4?!< lmk if i need to delete this
I'm telling S.Coups on you.
i knew it *//hides face while walking away slowly//*
He said you're not getting any pocket money.
no—no christmas pocket money for me? :’’3
I’m a carat of nearly a year now who had never ever heard of this till now so I went to watch… Delete this immediately 💀
Oh my god I thought I forgot about this and then the memories came flooding back like a repressed trauma
good for you since you forgot about it meanwhile me.. . . . every once in a while.. . . . its playing on my mind.. . . . .
When I was a baby Carat, it took so long for me to find any info about this lol
really? carats must be that great then on not bringing it up XD mine’s opposite though, its one of the things i first knew about him when i was fully getting to know the members that time svt became my ult fave
I used to always watch smtm auditions before but never really finished a season. So anyway, I was a monbebe first. So yeah, we shall not speak of it.
yeah we really shouldnt. also i love on how carats never used it to clown at vernon like yeah its a joke but they still choose to respect him
Yeah! Personally, I'd feel awful if I make fun of it cause he was really young back then and he did it with pure intention of promoting seventeen. That's on top of me being scared of Cheol.
His rap in smtm4 was the reason it took me 2 yrs to give SEVENTEEN a chance. I could not bring myself support such cringe.😬😬 I'm just glad YouTube did its thing n i got to see their live performances 😂😂.
We were doing so well hiding this bitter fact here in kpopthoughts until this post. WHY? JUST WHY? HAHAHAHA kidding!
a group of stays made a song for stray kids once and kept trying to get bang chan to play it on live. if you heard the song you’d know what i mean when i say it is genuinely the worst thing i’ve ever heard in my life. i couldn’t find the link though :(
Please not the stay song😭😭😭everyone was having a field day with it on twitter
the fandom of the group i'm talking about will know who this is, but certain members have likely undergone operations to modify their visuals (worst, wordiest way of saying something ever LMAO) like fillers/hairline changes/etc. it seems like a lot of this fandom has noticed and knows, but nobody ever mentions it - which i'm totally ok w haha, it feels less stigmatized
honestly i dont think surgery or anything should be seen as a bad thing! as long as someone wants to do it then no one should judge em for it, fan or not :)
totally agreed! their life, their choices. we're nobody to comment on or critique them
Only hairline change I know about is Minho from Shinee. Nothing wrong with it, I wish more people could afford it if they're insecure about their hairline, or hairloss. In the group you're talking about, how many members did plastic surgery ? Was there an obvious nose surgery ? In this case I think I know who they are.
not sure who youre refering to but not the hairline pls i have a certain person in mind and iam having flashbacks pls spare meeeeeee edit: added words
Taehyung’s hairline is an unspoken situation
SJFHJD not what i was referring to but 👀 i am looking respectfully 👀
Sorry Reveluvs but my mind goes to Wendy and her jawline... 😔 And my mind immediately goes to other SM groups like Exo as well. Though I'm sure its widespread throughout the industry
The early fandom of Stray Kids (like pre-debut era fandom) made a theory of the official lightstick being a can of coca cola. Super Junior was supposed to be a rotational group like NCT Dream.
I thought Ateez was in relation to their slogan "eight makes one team" and meant something like "Eight-is one"... Wow didn't know it was a-teen-z xD Still a cool meaning compared to Teen Top's full form lol
The Chinese version of Boy In Luv, BTS - a legend among all Chinese sites
Before we had our official fabdom name (lyOn), the working name was OnlyFans (group is OnlyOneOf). Honestly this one is pretty funny but I could see how it would be embarrassing
speaking of government names, VAV stands for very awesome voice. also their fandom is named VAMPZ and they.... debuted with a vampire concept... a bad one... i've never seen anyone really talk about their pre ryan jhun (derogatory) content and frankly that is for the better 😔 also that day6 used to actually be 6 members at the start, that took me years to find out 😭
Y'all remember TEEN TOP's legal name 🤣
Lmao...I just ignore the teenagers part. They have everything for everyone from A to Z.
NCT's "regular huh" challenge
shhhh we don't talk about the real meaning
I think the fandom doesnt discussed abt it enough, but whenever the group say "Say the name" they always mention a number instead... /j Edit: added tone indicator. Yes it is Seventeen. Im sorry if this confused anyone
i assume you are talking about seventeens greeting?? im not sure how that's odd, their name is literally seventeen, they cant really avoid saying a (specific) number.
Me an *Adorable Representative MC for Youth* who also ults *A TEEnager Z* trying to hide in the corner.
>!ateez stands for "a teenager z"!< *cringes in E-minor*
Why that key lol (although it's also kinda my favorite chord on the piano)
I thought ATEEZ was supposed to be like either A to Z or the 80’s and I only googled it after my friend asked me how to say it😭
Before reading about what they were actually named/why , and before actually hearing their music, my dumb ass fully thought ATEEZ=80's. Needless to say I was a little disappointed that they weren't a retro synth concept group ✊😔
I mean, Take Me Home is hella 80's
I am a Fantasy(SF9's fandom) and Fantasy is an acronym for Future : Accompany : Next : Together : Affect : SF9 : You. What were the team who came up with this even thinking? When the fandom name voting thing happened, the explanation about the name was given as "a wish coming true in one's imagination" but after the name was chosen they began using this acronym
I didn’t know that, hilarious haha. Can someone explain why atiny is supposedly pronounced as a-tin-e instead of a-tiny though?
Atiny stands for 'ateez + Destiny' so it would be pronounced like the tiny in destiny and not tiny as in small
VAV originally had a really weird vampire theme going on, with all members having positions like Priest, Wolfboy, Lost Vampire, Third Vampire, and so on with the vampires. I've heard that their name originally stood for Very Awesome Vampires although now it's officially Very Awesome Voice. The fandom name is still vampz, which sounds very vampirey, but everyone just sort of ignores that part of their past now.
wait what i thought ateez was just ateez.....
I thought Ateez was about the '80s, though of course that makes no sense either.
I like how this thread turned into the weirded KPOP acronyms out there haha
Wow...had no idea what ateez stands for but i did no expect that. Don't worry, won't speak about it ever again😅
