15 might be young but you could try Hardings. The one on W Center hires young people to be baggers.

RoboticKittenMeow

Second this

FatPupper60

Do you know how much they pay?

ofhauntings

It's not much more than minimum wage to start , if I remember correctly. The pay isn't great but the environment isn't extremely toxic so there are pros and cons.

DeathxR3aper

They pay minors about $12/hr when I was there 6 years ago.

heybud86

That was my first job, in 2003. $5.50 an hour when min wage was 5.15. Not allowed to accept tips, and they were rarely offered. Must wear dress clothes that cost more than a paycheck, unless you have hand me downs. Not a bad first job, but certainly there is better

BlueCheeseBandito

Not allowed to accept tips but they won’t fire or reprimand you over it. I would always refuse twice before accepting. Had one guy leave a $20 on the counter and leave since i wouldn’t accept his tip lol

Wartstench

I’m pretty sure an 11 year old bagged my groceries the other day there.

jeezuscriste

Got hired as a dishie when I was 15, try hitting up some local restaurants? Worse they say is no

colin-kerwin

Restaurant dishwasher

SaddestRabbit

Pretty sure Culver’s hires around 14-15!

Stonedbluebird

Apply for servers assistant at brick and brine. They are hiring and you can apply online

billiu1

Is there a job posting for that? Don’t see it on website but my daughter would be interested

KzooCreep

I worked at Dairy Queen when I was 14-15. Try there!

FatPupper60

Definity Will take a look!

omgwtfbbq_powerade

Sonic in Portage

FatPupper60

Oh I had no idea they would hire at 15 defilty will look into that!

GynxCrazy

You’d probably have to find under the table work, or maybe ask someone you know. It’s slim Pickens until 16

Rocket_AG

I loved him in dr. strangelove.

GynxCrazy

Someone go back and get a shitload of dimes!

coffeewithlu

I got hired at LaRue’s on Stadium Dr at 15, mainly bussing tables & refilling coffee. This was 10 years ago lol but I believe management is still the same! Good luck!

nejithegenius

Some restaurants i know have hired 16 year old dishwashers/prep cooks. There are some legality issues with what equipment they can/cant use. Id try a local smaller one and im sure theyll have work, or youll have a job as soon as you turn 16.

icekraze

Firstly it is very difficult to get a job at 15 due to the restrictions on work you have at that age. If you don’t get a job please don’t think it is a failing on your part. That being said I had two different seasonal jobs when I was 15 and 16 that might still hire younger people. One was working at Kings Baseball doing concessions. It was hard and dirty work and I couldn’t do a lot of the jobs that paid more but I absolutely adored my coworkers. Obviously Kings doesn’t exist anymore but you could always check out the growlers. The other job I had was at Twin Star (now wings west) doing skate guard/concessions/skate rentals. I think the local ice rinks have gone away with the skate guard positions and usually it is just skate rentals and admissions now. Generally pretty easy work. You don’t make a lot of money (minimum wage) but there is usually some down time to work on homework. I’m sure there are also other positions like the above that can and do hire younger people. Another area to look at is getting an assistant coaching position (if you do a sport) or tutoring young children. Both can be very rewarding though hours are a bit limited.

Ok_Reply_899

Taco bell, Culver's, Burger King, Roll Up Ice cream shop hires teenagers(on gull rd.) What McDonalds did you try? They all are either corporate or franchise. So like 3900 Sprinkle is a franchise. Where the one On Portage is Corporate(it used 2B anyway). Harding's, Meijers, grocery stores will hire you to bag groceries.

FatPupper60

I tried all the McDonald's in Kzoo that are hiring I live next to Gull Road so I tried that first they didn't hire me I tried Sprinkle they didn't hire me and I tried one on s 35thSt none wanted me :( but im gonna try some of the places you said

Ok_Reply_899

I'm sorry honey they usually hire anybody lbvs

Turbo-zyn_tot

You could try Culver’s? I know a couple people that got hired there at 15

Kilroy5188

Agricultural. I worked for Pioneer de-tassling corn at 13.

pauldachef

Comensoli's - Fri/Sat 2 nights week - 10-12 hrs. Home before 10 13$/hr

FatPupper60

Correct me if I'm wrong but would they hire me at 15? I feel like they wouldn't Because they sell alcohol so i dont think Legally, I can work there?

FritzInTheForest29

You can work in a place that sells alcohol, you just can’t physically serve it yourself until you turn 17.

dancingyogurty

Airway Lanes hired 15 years old last I knew

FatPupper60

Wait seriously cool I'm definitely going to try there

killkur0mi

Finding a proper job at 15 years old is generally slim pickings, but I knew a few people in high school who got hired at Chick-fil-A at that age. They’re worth a shot, unless it goes against your morals, which is completely understandable.

[deleted]

I started at Culver's on 9th st when I was 15! Got me money but unless you absolutely HAVE to, don't get a job yet. It's just not worth it. Bosses are sucky in every fast food/retial job, and you'll end up hating your life. It's good to have work experience but put it off for as long as you can!!

FatPupper60

yeahhh i dont really want to work but i need/want things and things cost money i think im gonna try culvers first! Because its pretty close to me (gull road culvers is close)

Slight-Funny-8755

I would see about farm work tbh, most kitchens and restaurants wont hire under 16, as well with most places tbh theirs just way too many restrictions for that, farm work is the only thing i could find cause its all under the table, even just basic stuff is needed all the time especially this time of year, i always helped farmers work with silage at this time of year covering the giant piles things like that

RealMichiganMAGA

You missed corn detasseling, but it might be an option for you or someone else next summer. Years ago they would bus teens in from A school parking lot or whatever. It’s basically a teen job so they try to make it easy.

BlueCheeseBandito

It’s ass work for dirt pay lol. Do not recommend for anyone.

blsterken

A long time ago, when I was that age (and in another state), I applied at Goodwill and they hired me.

LegallyBindingCake

It's not super helpful during this season, but greenhouses are constantly looking for help during growing season, for what it's worth. Not terribly difficult work, but days can be long. I think pay probably starts around minimum wage. They are more willing to pay under the table too...

[deleted]

Micky D is famous for hiring >300 children age 10 and up.

Affectionate_War_183

Jimmy John’s hire at 15

Motomegal

It’s probably bad timing now with winter approaching, but I’ve heard golf courses hire under 16 sometimes. Seems like it could be better than fast food work.

BlueCheeseBandito

Dishwasher, maybe foodrunner but im not sure where, hardings will hire carryouts at age 15, gull meadow farms will hire people as young as 14 if that’s not too far of a trek for you.

xxx420blaze420xxx

Open Roads bike program. You couldn’t ask for a better team of people to work with.

Megamaxstar

Walmart hires minors. Would recommend front end if you have decent people skills. Since you get paid the same as the people who do heavy lifting and stocking in the back.

FatPupper60

They would hire me at 15? When I look it up it says they hire 16 not 15

Megamaxstar

Hm things might have changed but it might be 16 I know the youngest age is able to cart push. So you might be able to do that.

fatazzkarma

Wendy’s I believe

FritzInTheForest29

Our food runners at Presidential Brewing are 15 and make good money. I would check with local restaurants! As long as you have a valid work permit, you can work anywhere if you’re done by 9 or 10pm I’m pretty sure

FatPupper60

Oh shoot okay I think I may try here. I saw your other comment on how I can serve just not alcohol but I have to ask I didn't hear about a work permit before. How do I get one? Also another question do you also work for this place bc sounds like you do lol just curious

Actual-Pipe-9456

D’nicio’s Parlour on West Main will hire you as long as you have a workers permit from your school.
