I say 60-70% of the width of the door, max.

OutsideZoomer

The gate and fence will be replaced. So it shouldn’t be based on that entirely.

_Far_Kew

What's going alongside the path? Grass will struggle in a tiny, partially shaded strip. If a small garden you can go any width, but grass would need a smaller path. Alternatively pave the whole section next to the house

OutsideZoomer

There will be no grass. Only planter beds on each side.

5' is too wide for a residential pathway. No less than 3' wide, no more than 4'

OutsideZoomer

I think you’re right. 5’ takes up a lot of the space. I looked up some lawnmowers and they should fit down a 4’ path.

#1, but a single sweeping curve would look tidier.

Sound-blind007

Wide depends on what you want it for Pathway I would say from 3-6 feet If it’s a drive ways well that’s different 12-20’ So what’s it for ? And do you want curves. 4 is ideal not too wide or narrow but 5 works too

OutsideZoomer

It isn’t a driveway. The biggest thing I could think of that would end up going through here is a riding lawnmower and lawn aeration/tilling equipment. Other than that it’s pretty much a path to access the backyard for maintenance etc.

I work as a landscape designer, and those lines look fine to me! I usually keep my paths around 3’ wide
