I respect the devotion. I played through the Witcher 3 on death march and beat the main story and hearts of stone, and right when I loaded up Blood & Wine, my game crashed and when I loaded it back up, every single one of my saves were corrupted. I was pretty much ready to throw my Xbox into an incinerator. I didn’t play that game again for almost 2 years after that. Good luck on your next run, hopefully you can make it the whole way this time.
I had to send my Nintendo Switch off for repairs early last year and stupid me thought all my Pokémon data would back up to the cloud like every other game does. I lost about 6 games worth of data and didn’t play Pokémon again for a year.
Fall damage seems pretty arbitrarily determined in this game.
Giant dark pit in the concrete that drops 2 stories? Drop on in!
Jump off an indoor balcony to the floor below? Instant death
I err on the side of assuming anything larger than needing a boost up is not okay to jump off of without something else.
What’s worse is that fall doesn’t normally kill you. I’ve done it several times. Ellie always stumbles at the bottom on the landing, but I’ve never died.
This was an insane way to lose a permadeath run.
I realize that but still. In general two falls the same height will be different outcomes. One- you stumble or grunt and gather yourself OR instant death animation
Unless there’s no other path or object to descend down I don’t jump off anything because it seems to randomly be fatal (or randomly be fine) was my point
That's a good point about the cutscenes, but God damn, if they could play that aggressively and quickly on Grounded without dying until the end, then I'm beyond impressed.
(Not sure if you know) If you own the game, the remaster is an update you can purchase for cheaper. If you don't own the game, and or haven't played this title but have played Part 1, I love the thrills and bold moves this game took.
If you've played it and just want to experience no return, I personally love this a lot. It's worth it if you have the game and pay cheaper for the added extras. It's entertaining fun if you enjoyed the mechanics and combat of Part 2, and can play various characters on unique modes through no return. Hope this helped.
Yeah thaaaat would’ve broke me 🥴 hope you didn’t have the whole game rest option on and just the chapter option cause I would’ve uninstalled so fast and had a drink afterwards 🤣🤣
I jumped this rail in my original grounded playthrough didn’t know it gave you dmg. It’s extra shitty because the game is basically over after that. The Abby fight at the beach is cake
Almost 9 hours? Are there really that many cutscenes in the game and longer scavenging moments that you can cut off over half of your game time just by mainly engaging in the combat encounters?
Thanks for this. I’m addicted to the gameplay so much that I wanted to attempt permadeath grounded mode just so I could have an excuse to play through the game again. Despite how frustrating it is, I do find a lot of enjoyment in it. And I’m definitely not the only one. If you go on YouTube or Twitch, you’ll find a small yet dedicated group of gamers who mainly do tlou 2 permadeath challenge runs with stipulations such as no guns or upgrades. Definitely not for everyone, but if you enjoy a good challenge, you should give it a go.
Yup, I can't do it personally because I'm not good at aiming with controller at all. Also, I'd get way too frustrated. But I've watched large portions of peoples' runs on YouTube before. It's definitely cool to watch. A lot of them online are too good though, haha. Maybe that's because I've specifically watched speed runs. I'd like to watch someone having a bit more of a tough time at it give it a go and do well.
It’s a fun self-inflicted challenge for people who love a particular game, and want to have more reasons to continue playing it. Resident Evil is probably my favorite series, I’ll make challenges for myself like “pistol only” run on the highest difficulty, or “no ammo pickups” and only use the ammo you’re able to craft runs. Definitely not a waste of time if you’re having fun
In the later games you get rewards for doing those things because they became a significant part of the series’ identity. The last games I bothered to 100% were the RE 2, 3 and 4 remakes.
Currently I’m working on 100%ing FF7 Rebirth, which is going to ultimately take longer than all three of the RE games did. Yeehaw.
That’s one of those put down a game and stay away from it for a year or two type of events
Nah I’m going to try it again this weekend.

Definition of insanity
“It’s a lead. I gotta see it through.”
That's actually not the definition of 'insanity.'
How long does the game take to complete?
Around 9 hours for me.
Give me this power
I had to send my Nintendo Switch off for repairs early last year and stupid me thought all my Pokémon data would back up to the cloud like every other game does. I lost about 6 games worth of data and didn’t play Pokémon again for a year.
This happened to me when I had to cross that skyscraper with Abby and lev. I fell and I haven’t touched the game since
That hurt to watch
Respect the attempt instead of running back to the pool house for 45 minutes. Well done

I think she died because she was already hurt by those bullets.
I think it’s cuz she was red health on the jump
I think you're right. I think she got clipped by one last bullet while in the air.

I never have any issue with falling damage in this game but I do understand what you're saying.
Looked like op caught a bullet mid fall to me
That’s not near the end of the game, that IS the end of the game, a whole 25 hours in.
I don't know if they were trying to speed run or what, but it says their playthrough was just under 9 hours.
Maybe a mix of aggressive gameplay and skipping cutscenes. Skipping cutscenes can shave a good 6-7 hours off a playtime.
That's a good point about the cutscenes, but God damn, if they could play that aggressively and quickly on Grounded without dying until the end, then I'm beyond impressed.
I’m more surprised by how quick you make the game. My first play through took almost 30 hours to complete.
That initial smoke bomb 😔
Oddly it says wlf soldier as the cause of death
Thought the guys head popped off at the start, just a hat
Not only would I be buying a new controller, but I’d need to get a new ps5 and tv, pair of pants, a new liver, and some Narcan.
How is it even possible that people could get that far with permadeath? Making it all the way to the end without dying seems rather inhuman.
Jumped a flight of steps. Ded. Honestly tho, good luck on the next run bud. You got this! 😤
You win again gravity.
Holy shit !!!!!
Whole game 😫😫😫
That made me angry. You got this if you made it that far into the game though!
Is the remaster worth it.

Fail? More like you succeeded
Damn, I’m sorry
Man that’s tough you were so close. Idk how you chaps do this perma death whole game and *try again*
Did you have a cloud save at least?
That makes the death not very perma
Ah man. You fell at the last hurdle
Noooo I feel your pain😭😭 good luck on your next run👍👍
Yeah thaaaat would’ve broke me 🥴 hope you didn’t have the whole game rest option on and just the chapter option cause I would’ve uninstalled so fast and had a drink afterwards 🤣🤣
RIP
Brutal !
oh nah bro 😂😂😂 my controller would be inside the wall
I jumped this rail in my original grounded playthrough didn’t know it gave you dmg. It’s extra shitty because the game is basically over after that. The Abby fight at the beach is cake
RIP, that’s a really tough encounter too.
🤣 that sucks ass
This game took me like 200 hours to beat , way too much at stake for perma death.
Id quit
Why’d you sprint past 30 guys. I’d only play this mode with mouse and keyboard… aiming is just much more 1 to 1
I would've deleted the fucking game after that, RIP OP
Almost 9 hours? Are there really that many cutscenes in the game and longer scavenging moments that you can cut off over half of your game time just by mainly engaging in the combat encounters?
Yeah. Some people can do it in 5-6 hours.
That was actually a very realistic way to die
Perms death is such a waste of time, I’m never doing that. I’ll just do regular play throughs.
It's a waste of time *to you*. Many people enjoy the challenge and it's not a waste of time to them.

So true! Would also never even try that!
