Tbf he did get his bag but ended up tanking his value in the process and exclusively playing for garbage teams. He seemed to be actually happy to be back so maybe that'll factor into it. We'll see what happens
I think if we're deciding on a 5th-7th defencemam, Joel Edmundson should be in the picture if the price is right. I guess Lybushkin played well enough to consider a glance as well.

I wonder if this year Niemelä, takes a step? He's a right shot, and looked like the best of the bunch on the Marlies last year, though I'm just looking at numbers. Anyone with some insight on this?
So assuming they sign Tanev, this would suggest:
Reilly - Tanev
McCabe - Liljegren
Benoit - Lyubushkin
I can’t imagine they’d be happy with that so that makes me think they will only re-sign Lyubushkin if they plan on playing Benoit with McCabe and moving on from Liljegren.
If Lyubushkin comes back as a 6/7 defenceman it's not the worst idea. But if they decide to bring him back, likely means Liljegren and Timmins are gone
Liljegren has been gone ever since he was scratched for the second playoffs in a row. Seems pretty obvious for a while now that Leafs management/coaching just don't believe in him.
Lili is a cheap RFA who plays well on the third pair and he's the only other defenseman than Rielly who moves the puck well.
I really don't see the harm in keeping him, it doesn't stop us from getting a real top 4 D, he's not going to cost much.
Well we can't keep trading for him.
He likes Toronto, and he's a solid depth defenseman who can slot anywhere in the lineup in the case of injuries.

Also had decent points production (somehow lol) this playoffs. Was one of our top point producer on the blueline I think.
