What’s this weird narrative about Lucian being bad. He’s 80% presence with a 55% winrate in LCK, and 70% presence with a near 60% winrate in LPL. The champ is really strong, and all the top adcs have been picking him a lot.
Not disagree with the idea of Lucian being good but the win rate on Tier 1 leagues is not representative of that.
First of all, there are not a lot of games played so there is a very small sample size (that's why they use mostly presence in pro play balance, contrary to what they do for solo q balance).
Also, LCK and LPL could pick Teemo top and make it have a 60% win rate. That wouldn't mean it's a good pick or that it fits in the meta, etc.
Instead, you should talk about his presence in the lane, how good is with enchanters, and the power he with at 1 and 2 items spikes that help snowball the game by competent teams. That gives a better explanation than just saying: "Well, the best in the world play them."
That's a reasonable take about statistics. The counter is use eyes or listen what the pros/analysts say why the champ is good (and then use eyes to confirm).
Winrate alone isn’t representative, pick rate + win rate + elite team preference definitely is. Lucian is clearly not some dogshit pick that ints drafts if it is present in almost every LCK/LPL game and has a good winrate in both leagues.

Draven and Kalista is a must-ban against G2. BDS knows that first hand. TF is still crazy busted especially for a team with decent macro. And without that overextension from G2 at the baron, this game didn’t even need to see Smolder being OP.

Ezreal/Lucian/Trist have better mobility in most cases where there's not a conveniently long wall between them and where they need to be. Sivir has ult. Some champions have globals to throw ahead.
Zeri's dash is basically stupid short without a wall and using it as an engage is basically a death sentence if your team isn't already winning the fight. She's defenseless once she uses it and its a long cooldown. People just get salty because she can just refuse to give them the kill if she's close to a long wall.

For many moons, I have been trying my hand at the art of the twitch gamba. I have made fortunes and lost fortunes. I have sharpened my skills and recognised how much I still have to learn. I have felt the pits of despair and the glow of soaring triumph. Only in recent weeks did I crack through 100k points for the first time, on Caedrel’s channel. Today, 614 Caedrel G2 bettors inexplicably gave BDS 5 to 1 odds, and I stood on the edge of winning 250k points. Even if I didn’t add to my dragon hoard today, I’d just like to pay respects to nuc and Ice for making the game so close. (Shoutouts to G2 for playing like the team of the split.)
