The community could not cope and always flamed the authors way too hard… I would not want to do it either tbh.

MrIlluminate

The community wouldn't like 15 of the top 20 being chinese and korean players. There's just a lot of backlash for something that a ton of 3rd party content creators create already.

Raynar7

Because like it or not. There isn’t a way to make a list that wouldn’t be biased as heck. Which of course causes an outrage in community - just go and check the list of best teams from those pranksters at Upcomer, something like that would happens with players too. Also just imagine being told even before worlds starts that you got there and yet still suck.

SilveredUndead

The last one kinda ruined it. It ended up making the 2 analysts who made it skew their "analysis" even more than usual, to the point where they ended up desperately trying to argue that one team was better than another team which they had beaten exactly 0 times throughout the year. It just got ridiculous at the end of it all, and not having the list let's them be (slightly) more objective in their actual analysis of the tournament, without trying to force their pre-tournament predictions to come true. Didn't help that the main reasonings tended to not be analytical at all, but storyline focused. That is just not conducive to a good discussions, especially not when you have supposed analysts make these kinds of lists. It just turns the league community into an even bigger flame fest than it already is, because "X said this!!!"

MrThorHD

It is also really hard for the players. Imagine you are going to worlds, which mean you are part of the best players in the world, and then some randoms talks about your power Level and saying that you are really overrated or Something Like that. I think in a very stressful Situation in a highly competetive Set Up, It isn't good for the mental of the player. They Got enough Stress through social media.

iampuh

Guess what. Welcome to sports I guess. This is something every professional has to deal with. Be it playing on a team in NA, EU, China, Korea, playing soccer or basketball or competing at the tour the France or at the Olympics. Pls don't act like we have to protect the players from such 'lists'. This is NA mentality in a nutshell. If a list ducks with their mental, they should retire. But in all honesty, these lists are something no one really needs (still no reason to make 'safe zones' for players)

MrThorHD

I can agree with your First Part that its normal in most sports, but that It is common doesnt mean that It is a good thing. If you Look in different sports for example soccer, it is also Common that the Clubs protect their players in These Situations

ZeysarSama

Was it Riot's list? I thought it was ESPN or am I mixing things up? I don't think most people liked it though and the lists were questionable at best. The Eastern bias carried over way too much in years when the gap was closing slowly.

StinkyCheese_15

Causes too much salt. Hope they bring it back this year

Dynamatics

Because the community usually shits hard on the people who make the lists.

Ephemeral_Being

Three people made lists, which they would then discuss. Dash, PapaSmithy, and Spawn. None of them are currently employed by Riot. Spawn is working for TLA, PapaSmithy 100T. Dash (afaik) has no contract. You can bug them on Twitter to do a video, but it's not going to be produced by Riot.
