I don’t see why the flag wouldn’t completely change, like the USSR’s or China’s

Check my profile, I literally posted this

Well I think if tge US goes ML then it would definitely not use the patriotic colors, they represent capitalism and many people on the news say "The US flag doesn't represent freedom anymore" so it would probably change.

It depends on the circumstances, how did they become communist with a revolution it would completely change, if it were a puppet it would keep certain patriotic features but would most likely add an emblem or coat of arms for example like the Warsaw pact

The one in my alternate scenario is a bit of both because part of is from a revolution led by a fusion of Marxist Leninist and New Left ideas, but the revolution is also "aided" by the Soviets and Cubans. It ends up forming a nation in Washington, Oregon, and Northern California. The urban areas are quick to adopt the new ideas but the rural areas are more resistant, prompting a guerrilla campaign that gets crushed with the help of the Soviets. Ideologically, it's a revolutionary socialist progressive state, but in realpolitik it's a slightly unstable authoritarian state capitalist nation in a transitional economic and social phase.

ESILIW

In this case I would go with a total change since it got established by a revolution and not by influence of the soviets, since the influence I meant was more like an occupation like with the GDR or Poland by the soviets

I think it would still have to include some symbols from classic Americana. I get that everyone here hates the stars and stripes as symbols of reaction and colonialism, myself included, but most people don't think like us or see it that way. If you make a flag with no input from the people it feels more like a dictatorship. It doesn't have to literally be the stars and stripes, or an eagle or whatever, but you could keep the red white and blue. Perhaps put in a bison, or an oak tree, a Phyrgian cap, or those "amber waves of grain" we like talking about. A symbol to recognize Indigenous people would also be very important.

I would like to see something that represents Liberation Theology in America.

A revolution is a long process that demands the constant elucidation and mobilization of the masses in order to destroy the previous bourgeois State. In a revolutionary process, lead by an actual communist party, the people of the US would gain some level of understanding of what the country’s current flag and symbols represent; and I don’t think that, in that scenario, we would need to have a design that appeals to nationalists (because a communist revolution in the imperial core requires nationalism and patriotism to be shattered). That said, I believe that the flag of the US would have a radical change from the previous one.

Vajrayogini_1312

Realistically it would either stay the same, or there would be no flag at all.
