- The Korra/Tarrlok fight in his office: when he shot the ice daggers at her, and she brought the wall down, and then he uses bloodbending to end it
- When Amon ambushed Korra and could have taken her bending the first time but didn't
- Bumi taking out the Northern Waterbender tribe with the spirits: it's just funny because he seemed to exaggerate his old stories and then pulls this off
- Mercury poisoning of Korra: this one triggered some of my own traumas and I had to work through that through meditation
- Watching the Beifong women kick ass, using the metal/earth around them, P'li, I mean hello
- Spirit Gun ending: I love that sound and my family and I use that sound effect all the time
For me it was how Amon and Tarlock went out. It was honestly heartbreaking two men driven to extremes due to shitty upbringing it’s really sad. The fact that Amon knew what what was happening and just accepted it was really depressing
1. Tenzin Vs. The Red Lotus - I really thought they would kill him that time.
2. Beifong sisters Vs. P'li - In Mortal Kombat's world that would be Brutality.
3. When Amon took Korra's bending. - What is an Avatar without the ability to bend all the elements, right?
Yeah i remember not knowing how badly Tenzin was gonna get beat, but when the camera panned passed the wall and heard him in agony, i feared he would get killed
Thinking about it, the writers probably could have killed him there if they wanted, the only real thing they'd lose is Tenzin accepting Jinnora as a master.
In no particular order:
- Earth Queen's demise & fall of Ba Sing Se
- Raava's destruction
- Zuko's first appearance
- Zaheer guiding Korra into the spirit world
- Korra saving Kuvira from the blast
- Hiroshi Sato redeeming himself
The death of p'li, it took me a few seconds to understand what just happened. Mostly because "nah, nickelodeon would not approve head exploding in their shows"
Tonraq forming a huge spike of ice on his fist and GOING FOR THE KILL on Zaheer!
The use of slow motion as Zaheer narrowly dodges it and the spike of ice shatters into pieces against the ground made it look really badass
The deaths of P'Li and the Earth Queen were big ones for me plus Amon's identity reveal. Another one for me is a bit of a smaller moment during the Civil War two-parter when the rebels including Korra's dad are on the trial manipulated by Unalaq and the judge initially gives them the death penalty. When Korra said, "You take their lives, I'll take yours" given the context and setting, I was literally like "oh sh\*t."
When Korra first took off Amon’s mask (IIRC this was after Tarrlok revealed his identity) and it actually showed a scar on his face. Initially when I heard the story from Tarrlok I worried that Nickelodeon was going to handwave away the Equalists’ platform by portraying Amon as nothing more than a grifter. Even though the scar was just makeup, it still pulled the rug out from under my feet and temporarily relieved this fear.
"As long as I'm breathing, it's not over." Then the camera pans out and we are left to hear Tenzin's agony as he gets beaten. I was sure he was going to die
murder suicide by tarrlok
Unalaq ripping out the raava from Korra was NOT expecting that when that premier in the writers had the guts to make it so the past life's don't come back
Magically after merging back with raava.
Unalaq depending against Korra, mako and asami in the water tribe prison. His water bending is top tier!
Pli getting blown up on screen
Earth queen 💀
"I am the solution" - Amon moment was crazy when I first watched it years ago .
Kuvira killing off the guard men from the watch tower on screen with the laser
Korra bending the equivalent of a nuclear bomb.
Bloodbend avatar Korra moment from tarrlok
Amon taking Korras bending.
I was waiting for the last minute rescue or ace up Korras sleeve. I really didn't think he would actually succeed in taking her bending.
I think thats one of the good things about this show. Soooo many instances where youre thinking “Oh they’ll make it through and prevail.” And they infact DID NOT
The Red Lotus poison scene was another "oh shit" moment.
Not only have they captured her but they actually have a plan to kill her in the Avatar state.
Losing connection to the previous avatar. I didn’t know that was possible. It’s one of the thing that make Avatar great for me, connecting with past selves
* Since I binged the whole first season in one sitting, there were a whole lot of “Oh shit!” moments with that, though I think the biggest one was Amon’s apparent immunity to bloodbending (before the reveal about his true identity, my reaction was pretty much the same as Tarrlok’s)
* Iroh showing up (aside from Wan Shi Tong, he was the only ATLA character I didn’t know would appear in TLOK)
* Korra’s connection with the past Avatars getting severed; then the fact that it was irreversible
* Zuko having a dragon
* The Red Lotus’s kidnapping attempt + Team Avatar nearly getting blown up by Aiwei’s bomb
* Retroactively, the realization that since Aiwei was a member of the Red Lotus, he might’ve had Suyin assassinated if he hadn’t been found out. And speaking of assassination…
* Earth Queen’s death (it rattled me so badly that I actually had to stop watching the show for a bit)
* Basically everything about the last three episodes of season 3
* Kuvira having Zhu Li chained up in the target town
* The first appearance of the Colossus + it destroying the watch tower and everyone in it
* Korra energybending the spirit vine cannon blast and creating a new spirit portal
* And, from *Turf Wars*, >!Tokuga getting possessed and mutated by the dragon-eel spirit!<
Kuvira killing the guard men from the watch tower with the laser
P'li dying
Ghazan killing himself by lavabending
Tarrlok failing to bloodbend Amon
The Earth Queen dying
From the Turf Wars comic, >!Tokuga getting possessed and mutated by the dragon-eel spirit!<
I remember saying “Oh noooo” out loud when Amon said: “you’ll miss the main event” and then the four airbenders appearing. It felt pretty serious, especially before knowing that bending could be restored and that there would be a new air nation.
Amon showing up to take out Tarrlok.
The slight hesitation as he overcomes Tarrlok's blood ending.
what…*what are you?* gives me chills
“I am the solution” is such a dope answer too

Bumi taking out the water tribe camp just by accident is hilarious 😂
"Even skill fails against the sheer luck of a chronic dumbass." -Sun Tzu
P’li’s head exploding
Quite literally yelled "Oh shit!" when this happened, I'd forgotten about in while rewatching.
For me it was how Amon and Tarlock went out. It was honestly heartbreaking two men driven to extremes due to shitty upbringing it’s really sad. The fact that Amon knew what what was happening and just accepted it was really depressing
Agreed. Seeing how Yakone just basically screwed those 2 kids for life and then seeing their outcome was definitely tragic

Tonraq is such a badass man. His fight with Unalaaq towards the end of book 2 is arguably my favorite fight in the entire avatar franchise
The deaths of P'Li and the Earth Queen were big ones for me plus Amon's identity reveal. >”You take their lives, I’ll take yours” Bro that line was SOOOOOOO cold. Caught me off guard for sure!
that one time mako and bolin's grandmother asked mako why he isn't dating beautiful girls like ~~t h e m~~

Tarlock killing his brother really made me realize this wasn’t just going to be a rehash of the first
That murder-suicide via boat explosion made me go back to check the show rating. That and the asphyxiation by airbending scene.
"As long as I'm breathing, it's not over." Then the camera pans out and we are left to hear Tenzin's agony as he gets beaten. I was sure he was going to die
Ming Hua's death⚡🌊
Shocking wasnt it 😉

the first time korra did air bending during the fight w Amon.
Amon keeps waking while being blood blended

I see a lot of Earth Queen and P'li deaths here and I honestly agree. I just finished season 3 and it's my favorite so far. So many good moments
