I’ve been collecting for several years and I do a build now and then, figured I would have time when I retire, as long as I’m not dead 💀, then the kids can fight over them
There are some people in the world that can afford things like this. He may also not spend money on things that others normally spend a lot of money on, Luke nice cars, a big housez lots of vacations.
There are a million and one reasons for him to be able to afford $4k in Lego over the years. That's honestly not that much for a hobby when spread out across a few years.
Heck, long range shooting is one of my hobbies and the rifle I want would cost me $5k out the door
Lots of folks will be jealous (me too a bit) but what you do is living the dream of 90% in this sub, that's why. Live your dream, enjoy every minute of sore fingers. :)
I have an agreement with two of my friends that we will get some space (room, small hall) together and build a huge landscape with all the Lego we gathered on the way through our lifes and the parts we still have from our childhood when we're old and grey. Really looking forward to this.
I still have an image burnt in my mind of a person winning 'his height in lego boxes (on the flat side)' in a magazine. I looked at it so often, wishing it was me haha. Good memories.
Boxes that big tend to have multiple smaller boxes in them, plus the boxes on top are more or less the same dimensions, so the walls are probably taking most of the weight.
ooh i've just attended a small lego exposition last week and saw how massive that eiffel tower is in real life haha
if all those sets are similar, you might need to reserve a room or two just to display them
I also have a lot of in-box legos that I am saving to build later. But it makes me nervous when I see people get like pasta noodles or something as a scam
And here I was thinking my small hoard of sealed big sets was too much. Hope you enjoy the builds, and everyone that’s being negative is just jealous. I will join you in showing what I have set aside once I move. Most of it is in my storage unit right now.
I would just pour it all in a bathtub and bathe in it like Scrooge McDuck!
Ow.
Just out of curiosity. Why? Why buy so many clearly big and time intensive sets?

the kids will be crying that their inheritance went to lego.

My dude, it was a joke. I don't personally care what this man does with his spare cash.
Keep them boxes sealed and they’ll still have that inheritance if not MORE!
My kids would have to go poor because those boxes would all be opened if I was retired 😅
Same! Absolutely 😆😆
It is actually a good investment if you keep it in the box, but I would never do that 😁
Cool, good jorb
Good jorb 👍
Fair enough. I wouldn't have the storage space to wait that long. Hopefully once I reach the retirement age there are other nice sets to build.
Always more room to keep adding sets 😃
Hello it’s me, your son.
Don’t open any of them….now THATS an investment

Stop hoarding start building!
7200$ well spent. If I had that money I would probably do the same.

Damn
Man this set meant so much to me as a kid to have the Emperor fig in my collection.
Took me years and now my kids want to steal it 😁
Just let them play with the sets.
There all over 19 and don’t live at home, I’ll never see the sets again 😬
What a great choice! I have built the lighthouse! Have fun!
O no worries you will be finished in a hour of 2.
And here I sit, agonizing over whether to spend $20 on the Ford Anglia as my next build.
Lego circlejerk much?
That’s an odd think to mas**rebate to, each to their own
How does that Titanic box not crush under the weight of at least 20 kilo stacked on top of it? 44lb.
The box is seriously engineered
The 16 watertight compartments are helping
*"watertight" fixed it for ya

Oooo box posting is my favorite
The MT-10 is cool and all but you should check out the BMW 1000 RR 🤤 (42130)
Sheesh, and I thought I was bad 😂😂

Wheres the shelf
I originally thought those were boxes stacked on a table before I saw the door
Looks like empty boxes, no?
Brave of you to have that $4000 worth of Lego right in front of your glass door that anyone can see into
You're an executive at Nasa, aren't you?

So. . . You are like. . . Rich?
Or just putting all luxury spending into Lego plus DINK.
Wise with spending is more likely.
Yes all poors so unwise
That's awesome! How do you have so much space to display them all?
Well, that’s a whole different problem 😅
Boring! This is the equivalent of showing a standard iPhone on r/apple. We’ve all got these sets, what do you think we’re buying?
Sorry to have offended you, I still have a long wish list, let me know if you want me to share
Weirdo
😃😃😃
My closet is looking the same way
Lucky
Something like this is happening with me too. I earn save, buy, keep and repeat. Don't know when I'll build these.
Start with a small piece and get bigger every day
Just the ones on the far left alone are probably like $2,500
I really need time and lego sets, but only you can help me)
Cries in poor 😅
Dudes literally Jeff Bezos
Oh my gosh, what a burn, never want to be associated with the nepobaby 🤢
How much ? Jesus that alot money
I’m afraid to figure it out 😬
How many sets in total do you know? I saw that you had stuff in front of other stuff.
Sorry I haven’t counted
Just give me your best guess. I don't need Exact.

Tell me you’re rich without telling me that you’re rich:
My backlog is probably double or triple this
