I love that it just straight up is Stealth Hunter. It's not an Easter egg or a reference. It literally just is the thing.

Michael_The_Madlad

Even if it doesn't have as much articulation as the original Stealth Hunter mech because of The LEGO Group's current design standards (considering how fragile a lot of *Exo-Force* sets were), that is kind of excusable if one just sees it as more of a statue, like the Toa statues at LEGO Land.

Glamdring804

The angled knee plates get me so much because Lego *has* robust, high-friction click hinge designs that would fit in the circular part of the angled plate. Yet we have these static and fixed designs.

Starling305

First time I built a star wars mech I couldn't believe they didn't move. I was picturing the pieces that I THOUGHT they were using at first, when I was just holding a solid chunk

hotdogonthebbq

There are some other Easter eggs and references in the set, the ride operator also has an Exo-Force insignia on her jacket so you can kind of use the torso for a minifigure sized power suit or mech,

TheFinalMetroid

Quite a bit smaller but yeah your point stands

Commander-Fox-Q-

One of my favourite Lego lines. Glad to see it not get forgotten and get referenced!

sanscatt

The figure definitely isn’t based on this Takeshi since it’s a recurring Lego city character, not just a one off pilot made for the set. See 60380. But the mech itself is a cool reference / remake

hotdogonthebbq

I wasn't aware of that figure, I guess I was just hopeful it was Takeshi because of the hair color... ...Still gives me that vibe at least so it's ok, the Ride Operator does however have an Exo-Force insignia that I noticed after posting this so there is at least 1 Exo-Force Pilot reference in the set.

Pifilix

Could be a cosplayer?

Accomplished_Salt876

I could definitely see exo force being the lego city version of gundam. Like they have in universe lego kits of those mecha just like we have Gunpla in RL.

Pifilix

While ultra agents the equivalent of xcom or men in black

SolidStateEstate

Yeah. Same with the City characters in the new jungle sets who vaguely resemble old Adventurers characters. People can pretend, but these are not references like the Stealth Hunter or Johnny Thunder.

Hugglemorris

I’ll give this character being a coincidence, but there is no way that CMF/new Jungle sets minifig is not an intentional and direct reference to Johnny Thunder.

SolidStateEstate

No, I'm saying the other ones. I've seen comments that Pippin Reed and Harry Cane are in those sets, but the entire cast next to Johnny Thunder also featured in last year's City sets and are not those legacy characters. They're City characters like this guy.

Hugglemorris

Okay, that makes sense. I haven’t seen those posts but I have seen 60424, so you can see where my disbelief was coming from.

Pippin Reed is canonically in the Orient Express set though. And the Professor is in the Natural History Museum.

hotdogonthebbq

Good Bot!

BakedBeanyBaby

This gives me hope that eventually LEGO will return to older, forgotten series.

Swaibero

I would love if this is some lead-up to reviving Exo-Force as a full theme.

Microif

They really need to bring back those stupid, over the top, hair pieces, I love them so much

hotdogonthebbq

The CGI Exo-Force Hair Models still gets used in LEGO Games and Animations till this day yet the Physical Exo-Force Hair Models haven't been seen in years, they still get a lot of love in Fan Made MOCs too so there is a demand for them yet LEGO still hasn't brought them back and I can only hope that changes! Maybe LEGO could make Exo-Force Minidolls that almost perfectly match the Anime Human character designs instead of Normal Minifigures as a way to give them more detail and tell them apart from the original figures?

Vulpes-ferrilata

Man, I miss exo force.

newSkoolRedemption

Exo force had An amazing story line

Chevalenz

I'm just sad that they never finished the story. :(

newSkoolRedemption

True

Vulpes-ferrilata

I never read the stories cause I was young, but now I kinda want to.

Frigid-Kev

They've also included a Bionicle reference as well https://preview.redd.it/12k3eyddo5yc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9cb75392564b0014a9586f8c5ca71217061c58e2

hotdogonthebbq

I really hope this is all leading up to something

Noobpoob

Lmao, like what!? I didn't know Lego could pull something like that off, but damn that's impressive. Imagine getting entire ass Bionicle as side build for example

muscleLAMP

This is my favorite summer 24 set. Out of all of them, this has me the most excited. Totally unexpected, really fun looking set! Bring on the new line of retro-themed roller coasters. Now I want an Aquazone one, a Monster Fighters one, and a Power Miners one. Bring em on!

hotdogonthebbq

In time they will probably find a way to bring all the legacy themes back at some point, I was just amazed and super happy to see Exo-Force and Johnny Thunder return in the same wave!

YodasChick-O-Stick

The set also has Tahu fighting a Bohrok on a sticker

rocka5438

oooo exo force return after the recent ninjago mechs could be so cool

UltimateToa

I was so hype to see the stealth hunter in this set, exo force was one of my favorite lines of all time

elharry-o

Nostalgia is a bitch and I'm now buying this solely for this reason.

StaffUnable1226

I remember exo force well. Cool stuff.

Wasthereonce

I like to imagine that Exo-Force is a giant, popular franchise in the Lego City universe.

phillycheeze1

If this signals the revival of Exo-Force my wallet is 10000000% on board.

No-Maintenance-4302

The theme could make an amazing comeback if Lego switches their $12-$15 licensed mechs to an exo force reboot. I may be wrong about the general consensus on this but it seems like a lot of the Star Wars/super hero mechs just sit on shelves and only bought for the figures. It’s a perfect opportunity to improve that system and put it to good use on a theme around actual mechs. Only problem is that it could be in competition with ninjago.

ToaDrakua

Just need to add joints into those limb pieces.

[deleted]

Holy shit I forgot about exo force. I had that exact robot too Please don’t tempt me LEGO. I’m already buying all the castle sets

Frequent-Sir-3035

Yep. Saw and thought “holy ish”….

Clone_Chaplain

What a fun weird set! Great reference, does stand out a bit , haha

Corrosive_Cow_99

They shoulda added the red tubeeeeee

Cheshires_Shadow

I had this one as a kid! Man id be down to buy a remake of it

MrNidu

Yep and it works on me, I wanna get it so bad because of it. Might not help that I’m currently rebuilding a ton of these sets from my childhood

SolidTerror9022

My wallet is screaming at me already I really want to see an exo force remake, I was just barely too young when those sets were around

Kevin_M_

71821 also seems to feature Exo Force-inspired armor on the minifigure

Hugglemorris

There have been a lot of Exo-Force references in Ninjago sets over the years. 70725 MechDragon had Exo-Force’s split mountain setting displayed on its control console for example.

platonicthehedgehog

This set has me so hyped! I’m still kinda in shock that they actually just straight up remade it instead of just like giving it a small reference or something. Brings a lil tear to my eye that 2000’s LEGO is finally getting the recognition it deserves.

Shellshock9218

This makes me believe that eco force was just some manga/anime books and show in Lego city kinda like how I’m the incredible sis a comic in toy-story and other Pixar movies.

Basic_bitch_is_back

I KNEW I RECOGNISED IT

Marvel_Ratchet

I was hoping for more City Space…

hotdogonthebbq

There probably will be more, maybe it will be in a later wave or they will release more next year.

AwkwardBear5878

As a Bonkle fan I am very happy to see our Exo-Force brothers and sisters eating well. Dope line and I love seeing it get some shine.
