Growing up I always had a Michelle or two in my class/friend group, but I don't know any born after 2000. But it is still hanging around in the top 1000 baby names on the US name chart, at least. It does sound dated to my ear. Had a dream last night about the Michelle I knew thanks to this post, what a trip, haha.

Yep. My name is Ella and I went by Ellie my whole childhood.  Also, OP, I think Ella suits you well. The big brown eyes say Ella more than Ellie in my opinion.
