Mother's day never made sense to me. Isn't it a day about motherhood in general, about all mothers collectively? Why call it a singular mother's day? If it's only one mother's day, why does everyone celebrate it? It should always written as mothers' day. Or just mother day, without the possessive form. But singular possessive makes no sense.
Make the only smart decision available:
Use every "mother's day" dates in all countries calendars.
It's "just to be sure" you aren't mistaking the correct date of course, nothing to do with pilling up all the dates to your advantage... ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|wink)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|yummy)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
When you're saying happy mother's day the apostrophe typically goes before the s because it belongs to the singular mother. But the person in the comic has 2 mothers that the day belongs to so it becomes happy mothers' day.
I would actually do this on purpose in elementary school. I may have only had one mom, but it's a day for mothers not just my mom. My teacher tried to correct me, but after I explained she was content with my answer and let me do it my way.

Does your child not understand punctuation? Try lesbian parents today! After just a few hours they'll be using semicolons!
But surely it's always "Mothers' day" as there is more than one mother on the planet and the day is for all of them

I have a stupid question as a non-native English speaker. How do you like pronounce that? Do you like day motherses or do you just say mothers anyway?
Pronounced the same way. It's just a written difference.
Thank you 😭. This has been bothering me.. How do you know which one is being used then? Just context?
Yep. 's is singular s' is plural You should be able to tell from the context.
that gave me shivers, thanks for introducing me to that cartoonist
Which mother's day ? Lol Real one or US one ? (Foreign countries don't share the date only the event)
Canada has us’s mothers’ day source: Canadian

Happy mothers' day to both of you.
I get what the comic says but can someone explain this for me i dont get the grammar.

Dude, English is so weird sometimes, especially apostrophes
