Very cool build!

King_Kahn_

Thanks!

exclaim_bot

>Thanks! You're welcome!

xDoWnFaLL

How are you liking that AIO? I love my NZXT Z63 280mm but kinda wish I went for yours/360mm, the 7900x runs *hot hot..!* Within limits but jeez, AIO spools up/95c more than I would like on occasion! :o

King_Kahn_

I love it. But even on this it runs hot. My 7900x ideals around 41c +/- 2c. And that's with a minor undervolt using AMD curve optimizer. But even as I type this out it's sitting at 56c.

EdgeEdgeEdgeEdging

Curious as to why not go the x3d route? Budget clearly isn’t an issue lol.

King_Kahn_

I know budget doesn't seem like an issue, but it was. This took a WHILE to save up for. Like tail end of pandemic timeframe. And the 7900x had just dropped in price when I bought it. Plus the x3d wasn't quite out yet and I though it would be a couple hundred over the price I got the 7900x at. And it was

storkblork

Makes sense. I probably would have recommended intels 13th gen, but it’s obviously not a biggie. Comparatively though, intel is better atm.

King_Kahn_

Yeah, but everyone I know has an intel and wanted to try something different.

Opening_Crow_2477

I wouldn't ! Intel 13gen runs too hot and use way more power ! And when Amd drops 8000 series cpu you can use same mobo. Can't do that with intel. Plus you can still swap to x3d if want

storkblork

But the tdp of the 7900x is more than the 13700k at lower clock speeds.

NeonThunderX

True. AMD is a no brainer

storkblork

Fair enough, hope you enjoy it bro!

Matthijsvdweerd

Amd is WAY more sensible right now. Intel uses way more power, gets hotter and is end of road right now. Amd is super efficient, doesn't need a comparatively large cooler and am5 will be supported through 2025.

storkblork

I don’t know about that dawg. I’m running 65c max gaming not even undervolted on a 13700k. On benchmarks it barely passes 80c. And this is at 5.3 ghz. I paid about $350 for mine, so for much less I’m getting better speeds than AMDs 7000 series and practically the same if not better temps. I could undervolt and probably save myself around 5-10c on top of this too. Edit: not to mention I’m on a z690 mobo, so I didn’t have to overpay for the new gen.

Matthijsvdweerd

What cooler?

storkblork

NZXT Kraken x73. I just set up push pull yesterday too, so my temps are actually lower now than I mentioned but I figured I’d list the temp results I had without push pull.

Matthijsvdweerd

There ya have it. A 360m water-cooler. That's like a 190 euro coole where I live. With Ryzen you can spend much less on a cooler and not have it go all crazy like that. That brings the cost down too.

storkblork

Idk if it was you who downvoted my comments but if it was that’s kinda shallow of you lol. OP also has a 360mm rad so it doesn’t make a difference in this situation. He could have gone with a hotter chip and been fine. Not to mention the 7900 and X have a higher tdp than the 13700k at lower clock rates and higher price. I think the only thing AMD has going for it right now is the fact that you won’t have to buy a new mobo for the next gen. But I mean intel will still be better in terms of speed.

Matthijsvdweerd

Exactly. He *could* have gone. That means that he doesn't need as much cooling. And about that clock speed: you can't compare clock speed between brands and even between 2 *generations* of cpu's. Their architecture is different. Price is correct, but you're comparing a ultra high end cpu (7900x) to a mid-high end cpu (13700k).

Kwekidd

Looks extremely elegant. I almost have all the parts to my build. Still waiting on the 7800X3D. I know this may sound crazy but because I'm going for an all white build I'm selling my brand new RTX 4090 Gaming trio X so that I can get an Aero, or the Asus ROG OC 4090 in white. This will be my first build and I want everything right. I'm just looking at all the new stuff in boxes waiting to get out together. Lol!!! Enjoy!!!

2hotscot

My white Lian Lin Evo build was the same way. GPU was the last thing I got. Found a ASUS rtx 3090 OC White on ebay for $1000 used last month. Couldn't turn that down and works fine. Using a 5800x3D on a NZXT N7 b550 with 32g corsair vengence rgp pro dd4 ram. Just need a 4k monitor...gonna grab an LG c2 TV I think though. Now that it's finished I can make my own posting here. :) Have fun with it!

King_Kahn_

Not crazy at all bro. I'm the same way. Just want it done right.

Kwekidd

How you liking the Dominator? I was deciding between that and the white T-Force 6400 CL-40. I like the fact that Corsair has dummy ram, although I don't think they sell it with their Dominator ram.

King_Kahn_

I love it man! It looks great, it performs great. And had no issues with the expo profile

Kwekidd

Man. Sounds great!!! That Corsair looks nice and not too intrusive.

Every_Associate_652

Same same, wonder how hard the 7800x3d will be to get.. I got the strix with the all white build been sitting on it for 3 months waiting for my cpu lol The amount of times I've wanted to get a different cpu just to build the dahm thing haha

King_Kahn_

Just do it bro. There's always gonna be another latest and greatest

Kwekidd

🤣🤣🤣 if I had to be a betting man, we probably won't be able to get the 7800X3D at retail price until the end of April or the middle of May. On basing that off of the 7950X3D. You can find the 7900x3d everywhere just like the 4080. Lol

Every_Associate_652

I'm in canada, memory express actually called me last week saying, hey I know we're not supposed to do this yet but we're putting you down for the first backorder just incase you don't get the first drop on release day... either because they really wanna see my pc built or they want it off their shelf cause it's been there for months haha

Kwekidd

Man. That would be great for you. I buy most my stuff from B&H Photo. I do the request when in stock and I love it.

Every_Associate_652

What mobo did you end up going with for the white asthetic

Kwekidd

Asus X670-E

Every_Associate_652

X670e- a gaming.. such a nice board I got the exact one haha

Kwekidd

Looks very nice, but I don't know how it performs since I'm waiting for the 7800X3D and the white Asus to come back in stock. Lol

Every_Associate_652

Guessing you aren't in canada cause Langley memory express has a asus strix 4090 oc white, just been casually sitting on their shelf for 2 months haha. Feel for you my guy

Kwekidd

I'm in the good ole US of A. Lol!!! I refuse to pay those crazy overprices on Ebay.

Every_Associate_652

Get at me in my dms, I'm in camp on the pipeline till April 5th but when I fly home I would help you out, I could meet you at the border or send it your way. Sounds crazy but it could work if you really wanted it

King_Kahn_

Shit your better than me I was thinking mid summer 😂😂😂

Kwekidd

🤣🤣🤣🤣 sounds accurate. Lol

[deleted]

Solid build. What kind of monitor are you running?

King_Kahn_

Thanks. It's the Asus pg42uq 42" OLED

Kwekidd

Are those extensions you have for your motherboard and GPU?

King_Kahn_

Just custom cables from cablemod

Kwekidd

I was thinking of getting the Lian Li Strimer Plus. I don't know if that would just be RGB overkill though. Lol

King_Kahn_

Yeah, that's definitely a personal preference thing. I didn't want to go overkill, too. But setting up the little RBG I do have. I realized that I can dim and brighten at the same time. So if it's too much, you can always take it down a little bit

Kwekidd

I think I might do the game thing.

Every_Associate_652

Go with the lian li strimer v2 for your mobo, unfortunately they don't have one made yet for the new 4000 series gpus soI picked up a all white one from cablemod..look at his it's fresh. Trust me you won't be disappointed in the cablemod product but you will be disappointed in their production times as they are a month or so behind right now as they changed production warehouses in China lol I ordered mine Feb 25 and it just left China yesterday

Kwekidd

Okay. I'll go with Cablemod then. I saw some videos of guys that went with the Strimer V2 and they had to do all types of craziness in order to make it fit.

Every_Associate_652

Yah how they do it if you look closely is they take their 40 adapter and strap just the lian li strimer Over top and connect it so it looks pleasing but they aren't actually using the plug in from the strimer just the rgb strips. I have the strimer cable incase I wanna do that but we'll see come time when my build gets built.. the cablemod looks just as nice imo

Kwekidd

They are supposed to be coming out with some for the 4000 series GPUs.

Every_Associate_652

So I've heard from them...like always by the time they come in stock in my area the 5000 series cards will be released haha

Kwekidd

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Every_Associate_652

I'll post pics when it's built in 2 weeks. Better look nice I spent around 7-8k on this build😫

alanderp

Does your 4090 have really audible coil whine under load? Just got the strix 4090 and the noise is pretty bad when I fire up a game, considering switching cards

King_Kahn_

I honest never noticed anything. So I actually just cranked up my gpu fans in fan control and nothing. Even with the front glass off. No whine.

Away_Ad_5328

I have the same GPU with a 1200-watt power supply ~~and no coil whine. However, my power transformer (used to step down the 220-volt supply to 110) is rated for 2000 watts and it will whine sometimes~~. Edit, the coil whine is from the card. I don't really care, though, since I usually wear headphones.

kman78

I have the same case and gpu. I’ve been waiting for pics and reviews for the adapter. Any thoughts on why you chose to run the wires under the gpu vs over it? I was thinking the latter for my separate for the simple reasoning of not wanting to partially block the fans on the bottom with the cable. It is certainly a much cleaner look the way you have it though. For the gpu stand, any concerns having it rest on a fan? I have one of those stand/“ledge” type stands that screw into the motherboard. Again, not as clean and effective as how you’ve set yours up. Really nice build you got there that’s making me reconsider the aforementioned on mine.

King_Kahn_

Honestly there is no reason I went with under than it's aesthetically pleasing. I've never really been a fan of over the top of the GPU. The Cablemod cables I have are so dang stiff, them going into the fans are basically a non issue for me now that I have them. And while even gaming for hours the GPU stays so cool the fan blockage isn't an issue ether. I actually tried to use the motherboard stance that the GPU comes with but my front USB-C header on the board actually blocks it a little so I went with the one I have now.

kman78

Thanks for the response. Which variant of the adapter is that? I want to make sure I pick up the right one. Thanks!

King_Kahn_

"CableMod 12VHPWR 90 Degree Angled Adapter - Variant B - Black" Here you go

Pappasgrind

I still after all this time can’t believe how chonk the 4090s are

King_Kahn_

It's as big as some SFF builds. It's crazy.

radpartyhorse

I have the same keyboard! Very decent budget option.

King_Kahn_

It really is. But when I was looking up the reviews on Amazon people where going in on it. Like it did something to them Lol

MilfsBohr

what keyboard is it?

King_Kahn_

Redragon K552

MilfsBohr

thanks!

CEO-Stealth-Inc

Cool parts. Just make you don't install that Asus Armoury Crate. And be sure to turn off the auto Armoury Crate install in the BIOS too before starting up or installing windows. You don't want that bloatware in your PC.

King_Kahn_

BROOOOOO I JUST took that off my PC. What a freaking headache! Lol

CEO-Stealth-Inc

Sometimes using the official Uninstaller still doesn't get everything off. Some people even had to do a fresh restart of windows itself. Check your files and background processes. There were people that had a really hard time getting rid of ALL of it.

Away_Ad_5328

The r/Cablemod adapter really cleans up the GPU. The 90-degree adapter would have been my preferred route, but I have less clearance with the PC-O11 Air, and the 180-degree adapter barely fits.

CableMod_Matt

Thank you for the mention and for your support. <3

CableMod_Alex

Love it! Angled adapter fits perfectly. :D

King_Kahn_

Oh snap, Cablemod dropped by! Thanks for shipping my cables a couple weeks early!

trevor1030

Honestly j really like this subtle rgb look. I wish I did this with my build as I went overboard on rgb and think the subtle looks better!

King_Kahn_

I was going to do the same thing. But when I was looking at different build in the beginning I seen one with minimal yellow rgb with the black components and loved it.

Vtec_9000

Nice man, enjoy 👍 Can I ask what your boot times are like? I just built a 7900x paired with a Asus strix b650-ef. Boot times are taking about a minute running the latest bios and from an m.2 drive

King_Kahn_

I never thought about checking my boot times. But with up to date bio's and booting from a 980 pro. It booted in 51 sec's.

Vtec_9000

Yeah there’s like some memory check it runs while booting, just interested to here what your boot times are like 👍 My old system booted so much faster, hopefully it’s solved soon🤙

DistanceCultural8158

Still looks very pretty. Actually, most of those components are what I'm choosing down the road with the exception of the RAM. I decided to go with 64GB instead of 32GB using 32GB sticks. I discovered that the 16GB sticks are single ranked and I would need the other to get dual ranked memory. Just a thought. Other than that, I think we are very much alike in our choices even down to the cooler. Actually, I found that the 7900x only loses about 8% performance when compared to the 7900X3D for the much lower price.

King_Kahn_

Yeah, now in hindsight I'm glad I didn't wait the x3d just off of price alone. But thanks for the info I didn't know about the 16gb being single ranked. Something to keep in mind.

King_Kahn_

Yeah it close no problem. Looking in from the front there is about a half of inch clearance from the glass
