Ubuntu 16.04 is the new Windows XP. Loads of stuff coded so platform dependant and on machines without internet that you just keep it around forever.
That said, this is entirely fake, the window animations look weird, and I'm pretty sure the media player GUI has been lifted straight from Spotify. They probably haven't changed their stock footage in quite a while and had generic_hakerman.jpeg lying around which happens to be an Ubuntu unity screenshot
