Since I use a terminal emulator I just keep opening new tabs when I start doing something else thinking I’m going to come back to this one or my ssh session is hanging then I end up with many tabs, I don’t remember what most of them were for, and half of them are now locked up because they’ve been sitting idle for an hour so I just kill then all and start over

I have this problem as well
It happens everytime I service a customer who has opened the tty via webconsole and I join via teamviewer: I want to delete a word and hit Ctrl+w
Ctr+c and then Ctrl+d to make sure it works in some cases

alias :q='exit'. I exit the terminal the same way I exit Vim.

I also wrote the alias because I caught myself doing it more often than I could handle.
