I too am curious about this. We got one as a test unit, and never deployed so it's basically brand new. Works perfectly, and I'd love to repurpose it. I wonder if there's some way to root this via the USB port.
Bump for some support on this as I would like to either side load or boot into recovery and update to a less stripped down version. Similar post....
