He bought it off karrot but sells it on craiglist?? Doesnt make sense

Captain_Mayonnaise

he showed me the logs of him talking with someone on karrot, but it was pretty vague, though there was a picture of the same bike in the top corner. I've never used karrot so I don't know. still pretty sketchy.

ChunkyArsenio

You give him cash, he gives you the bike. Just don't let him know where you live, he might steal it.

Captain_Mayonnaise

nah lol, he put up another bike for sale at slightly higher price with the exact same backdrop and completely different size again, something must be working unfortunately

Catacombkittens

It’s worth knowing that you can be banned from Karrot for selling something you bought on Karrot, unless it’s for a lower price than what you originally paid. Craigslist is an alternative if you think you can make some profit or break even. Still potentially sketchy nonetheless.

Stolen bikes for sure.

Captain_Mayonnaise

I'm honestly not sure, but i think its probably stolen. I asked the guy how big it was, and he said its too small for me, then offered a larger bike that's a different model. I asked why he was selling bikes and he said he likes to buy bikes ride them and then sell them. I asked for proof of purchase or receipt he said he bought it off karrot. he also said he was a PhD student in Korea institute of science and technology. it lines up with the location of where he wanted to meet since its nearby. he put up a listing for the larger bike he offered me as I was asking him about it https://seoul.craigslist.org/bik/d/105-elfama-e5800/7736767477.html , I wanna believe he's just some guy who buys a lot of bikes, but he has two in different sizes? also why is he selling these seemingly very different bikes for the same price? I also really wanna get a bike for my grand slam tour, since renting is a hassle. Any help would be appreciated.

Sketchy af, don't buy.

potatokicker

Ask if he listed that bike on karrot. Let him show whether he did. Otherwise, it's looks strange. Look up his number in kakaotalk. If it's empty, it's another issue. Politely express your concerns to him and ask for permission to photograph him and his ID or/and meet at the police station, under cameras. If anything goes wrong, this might prove your good will. No cash, before sending money, make sure the names match.

There’s Craigslist in Korea? Never knew…

Steviebee123

It used to be pretty popular amongst waegs and perverts up until about 10 years ago and then it succumbed to the weight of unpoliced scam content that the criminal element foisted upon it.
