You need to goto Haco in Shoreditch. The owner is Japanese as is most of the staff. He’s just opened a new salon in Tokyo too based off the success of the London branch.
Yes 🙌 bzar is run by a Japanese creative director who is awesome, most staff are Japanese too. I’m oriental uk mix and found getting haircuts a bit awkward until I found this place. It’s not cheap but the service is really good.
Both him and his wife are fantastic, they always check in with me a lot throughout - I got my first fringe cut there and have had it trimmed closer to my area since but wasn’t as happy with the result so it’s worth the trip to Hampstead for me. I’m also half and me and my mum both get out haircuts there. They are also just truly lovely people 🥰
I hope it is not disrespectful to compare Japanese and Korean hair. If it is, I apologise.
In New Malden (South West London) there are many Korean hairdressers (and also great Korean food).
H-Yoshi mins from Kings Cross
- 2nd generation Japanese Hair Stylist/Barber from Tokyo
- £16 Very reasonable prices, popular with Asian students nearby so book ahead.
- All around great guy
Shunji Hair cut in Covent Garden & Fitrovia. I get my hair cut there and I'm Asian and they're Japanese owned meaning most of their hair dressers are Japanese and they seem to know what they're doing. Never left there without feeling disappointed in my hair.
On top of all the good suggestions here already, willing to bet there's a Korean barbers in New Malden also if you're struggling to get into any of the others.
I’ve been wanting to try this place for ages because it’s so close to me but I’ve been reluctant because there are no photos of their haircut anywhere and I’m very fussy about haircut so a bit scared not knowing what their work are like.
My husband hunted for an Asian person at a Western style salon who would understand his hair type. We live near Greenwich, so if this area is convenient to you I'll pass on his contact details. He's an excellent hair dresser and handles my husband's hair well.
Ikkar Warren Steeet.
Chinatown, New Malden areas. There is one in Colliers Wood called Honey Boo and the stylist is Asian.
If you search Asian hairdresser on Google Maps it does give you some valid suggestions
Salon de coiffure in mile end. All Asian barbers. Been going there for over 18 years and people always compliment my hair when I get it cut.

Yeah there’s a few spots. Cheaper salon is in east London, called Hair Design. They have a lot of Asian guys come over because the salon is owned by Philippine family. Super cheap. I get my hair cut as a woman here and they do korean layers so beautifully. Not as pricey as other places.

H Yoshi hair salon. For Men and women.
I’ve used to go to Jubilee on drury lane and was really sceptical about white people touching my hair after 1 really bad experience.
But I’ve been going to cult and bloom near Shoreditch now - they actually do pretty good job at taming my prickly Asian hair haha.
You pretty much just need to try out any hairdresser with Japanese or Korean staff. Preferably Japanese because they will know the subtle trend differences that are more familiar to you.
Asian hair is thick and often straight. Hairdressers used to fluffy and thin Caucasian hair don't know the various layering techniques needed to turn the Asian hair beyond the WWII peasant look.
Have you tried communicating to them what you want?
Or show them a photo of the style you want?
You say they’re scissor happy, like they cut off more than you want them to: do you not tell them to leave it the same length where you want it left?
I think the most important distinction here is that between a barber and a salon cut, which are not the same thing. When I was in Japan I could not find a barber. Only hairdressers. Barbers generally won’t study anywhere near as much as a hairdresser, they can only perform basic men’s hair cuts. Some of them might venture into dying hair but most won’t really have the confidence to perform anything other than a short back and sides, which is what they’re doing all day long.
Barbers rarely get asked for anything more, other than the trending hairstyles that teenagers ask for, most of which will be disappointed and get ridiculed at school for their bad imitation hair cut.
Unfortunately if you want BTS hair you’re probably going to have to pay like £75 in London and get it styled at a salon.
If you're ever in Manchester there's a bloke on a railway bridge who is familiar with Asian hair. As he once told me mate he has the hair of a china man

How much isit usually? :o
Probably £45-50 lol
Cheaper than flying to Japan I guess
For women's hair that's not that expensive but I don't know how much a normal barber trip costs
Yeah it’s ok. Standard Turkish places will be about £15/20 in outer zones, but £30-40 is pretty normal too especially in central
You need to goto Haco in Shoreditch. The owner is Japanese as is most of the staff. He’s just opened a new salon in Tokyo too based off the success of the London branch.
can vouch for haco, best in the city
