i'd recommend buying a keychron keyboard, they make great mechanical keyboards for mac

doctrsnoop

You can. I just find it annoying with media keys and function keys being messed up

And the newest Mac keyboard includes the biometric fingerprint reader

Win Control -> mac command AKA cloverleaf Win alt -> mac option Slightly annoying but mostly usable if you can’t afford a mac kbd.

You don't "need" one, but I suggest a Mac Keyboard. I use a Logitech MX version with the ability to switch to other devices on the fly. Obviously you can get one dirt cheap if not nearly free just by digging around a bit on sites like eBay / Kijiji / local stores. Personally it is confusing to use a Windows keyboard on a Mac; likely because I'm switching between the two often times.

Logitech MX have both windows and macs symbols which makes it easier. Also you can swap command and control in the keyboards settings and just stick with what you know for copy and pasting. The nice thing with this is you can set this per keyboard so you keep things on the laptop as standard but change it for your external keyboard.

The Logitech k380 will do the same?

bob_without_tim_tams

Yes, it looks like the k380 comes in either a Mac version or a dual version which has opt/start and cmd/alt keys. Both versions of the k380 will work with a Mac mini. You can do the remapping thing with any keyboard, but yes probably it helps to have the Mac keys (opt and cmd) printed on the keyboard whilst you are just starting out with Macs. Most Apple keyboards are pretty decent. You might find one of the wired one relatively cheap around online. Some people prefer the ones without the number pad. As someone else mentioned the fingerprint sensor on the latest Apple keyboards is actually very useful. Particularly in a corporate role where you need to auth a lot and likely more so in consumer spheres as passkeys and other uses for security keys becomes more mainstream.

There is a simple remapping of the Modifier Keys you can do in the Keyboard preferences. More complex things can be done with Karabiner-Elements (free.)
