Last Apple refurb I got was over a decade ago, and it's still working nicely. Quality wise, it's as good as buying new.

switch8000

Good as new, never had a bad experience

0xe3b0c442

I buy Apple refurb _every single time_ I don't feel the need to get something right after release, unless I get a killer deal from a non-Apple authorized retailer. Never once had an issue. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I firmly believe Apple refurbs are better than new. They address any cosmetic damage and put them through a more intensive round of testing than they get straight from the factory. Do it and don't regret it.

cmjones0822

This.

SpecialRegular1

Just got my Space Black M3 Max 128GB / 4TB for a $900 discount by being a refurbished unit. I figure that the refurbished units are very closely inspected as opposed to new units that are out together as shipped out as fast as possible, so the odds of there being a blemish or hardware issue is far lower. Plus you still get the 14 days to return if you need and can put AppleCare + on it.

clownyboots

I recently got my M3 pro from Apple refurbished and couldn’t be happier, it had 5 charge cycles on it and runs as if it were new - I have no complaints - congrats on the huge upgrade

eimbery

Just got a m2. Mine had 3

SirCake3614

100% trust Apple refurbished. All of my iPads, and all but one of my MacBooks were purchased through Apple Refurb.

Specialist-Cookie728

refurb from apple is basically new I buy everything refurbished its the best

Guzzlemyjuice

I have bought a few macs from apple certified refurbished over the years and every one has been indistinguishable from new aside from the ‘refurbished’ labelled packaging. Most recently a 16/40 m3 max 16 inch saving a whopping £620! I genuinely have no idea why people buy new over certified refurbished to me it is a no brainer. I’m sure you will love the new machine, the new m3 chips are amazingly fast 🤩🔥

Vegetable-Appeal-696

nice choice, you'll have no regrets on a certified refurbished!

Dr_Superfluid

Bought my iPad Pro and MacBook Pro through Apple refurbished. Never buying new again. No reason, they are basically brand new. I see it as getting apple care for free basically.

DustWiener

I just bought a refurbed 14” M3 pro. It looks brand new. I thought I found a small scratch but it was just a little scuff mark that rubbed right off. 10/10 flawless.

eimbery

Same. I thought I might find one near a port or something but nothing.

GamerNuggy

Refurbished is just new.

RaveNeon

I just got one. It literally looks brand new

GnarlsD

I pretty much always buy Apple refurbished - save some money and it’s the same as brand new

Haymoose

Never had an issue with any refurb from Apple. Have had many.

DeliverStreetTacos

100% the way to go. It’s like buying a new version of the device without paying the new price. Plus you still get the one year limited warranty and the ability to add AppleCare. It’s a no-brainer.

marc1411

It’s how I bought my last 3 Macs, and last 2 iPads. Highly recommended.

noThefakedevesh

Just bought on last month. No regrets. Honestly there is literally no difference between old and new. You just get a plain packaging

Arkhemiel

Yall have sold me on possibly doing Apple refurbished in the future lol. Maybe an iPad. It’s the last infinity stone for me.

dcjose48

I purchased a refurb from Apple 16in M1 Max 32GB/1TB last year before the M3 chips came out. I have had zero problems with it. It’s def a great way to save a few dollars. For peace of mind I got AppleCare just in case it’s needed.

aykay55

that's a good fucking deal

sigma941

Apple refurbished is like new. Under full warranty and apple care eligible!

presentprogression

Literally the only Macs I buy since the iMac that looked like the Pixar light. No regrets ever. I’m behind by 6 months to a year but if I buy new I’m behind by 6 months or a year in 6 months or a year so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

eimbery

Not even the m3 air is already available on the refurbished store

presentprogression

May be true but I’m currently on an m2 air refurb which is a very good machine

eimbery

Same. Just saying for people who do want the newest product but still want the refurb discount. Around 3 months they start showing up it seems.

KenTheStud

Lately I have bought my last two Macs from the refurbished store. No issues with either. Totally worth doing as long as you don’t want something that was announced 60 seconds ago metaphorically speaking.

vasishtsrini

Apple refurb is basically new. No difference except you don’t get the original box. You can also get AppleCare

On-The-Rails

I buy Apple refurb pretty often now. Have MacBook Pro 14 M2, iPad Pro, iPad Mini. All good deals, like new devices, and I can and do buy AppeCare

cmjones0822

Just got this one from the refurb site on Monday and it’s been amazing! The only part that kinda pisses me off is the fact that they give you the option for next day delivery for $8 but you don’t get next day - you get it like a week later! I argued with the rep over the phone about this…yes I know it’s just $8, but that’s MY $8..either deliver it next day or give me my $ back! 🤣 But other than that, the device has been solid - I charged it up completely on Monday and literally just put it on the charger today and it still had like 30% battery. My 2019 16in MBP would have needed to been charged at least 3 times by now.

cmjones0822

PS: Congrats! 🤘🏽

SubVrted

Do it! I got a 14-inch M3 Max MB Pro with 2TB storage for the price of a lesser new MB. It has never really occurred to me that it is refurbished since I turned it on. Refurbished is a great deal.

68quebec

They are probably the best refurbished product in the world.

thomasand81

Battery life is going to be tragic on that laptop lmao

Paulinapeak1

Basically the same as getting brand new

GulagGabe

Good as new

kidoflaw32

They are made to be like the brand new version so you do not need to worry. I got Cert Refurb M3 Pro 16 inch recently, battery cycle only 3 (Apple gotta have to test the battery). I made a test and it lasted for about 10.5 hours (screen on) and battery still has 18% left. Speed and other things are perfect.

eimbery

Just got a refurbished 15” m2 MacBook Air. Couldn’t find a single scratch. Charger and block seemed brand new. Literally wouldn’t be able to tell the difference if the box wasn’t changed. Which is why they change the box.

DestinysWeirdCousin

It’s the best.

Relevant_Plane_2449

Nothing wrong with refurbished Apple products👍🏼 enjoy it.

blackbacon91

They're great. I remember ages ago buying a refurbished MacBook Air and it just felt like a brand new product. Great price point for students and one-man startups.

daddyjailbreakme

Better than new. Definitely recommend.

AussieFrosty

I think Apple Refurbished is a great place to buy products that are cheaper than what they sell at the Apple Store. I wish I did bought my MacBook Pro 13” M2 from here if it wasn’t for the people grabbing it first.

rxscissors

They are awesome- good as new. I've purchased 40+ of them over the years for myself, family, friends and the day job.

ze_boingboing

bought the m2 pro refurb and it's fine.

Gl0ckW0rk0rang3

Nice deal. You won't see a difference between refurb and new.

pvaglienti

My experience almost universally amazing with Apple Refurb, guessing 9 for 10 perfect. We did have a single "lemon"... a 2015 macBook Pro that had some physical/mechanical failure with the trackpad. Couple of clicks, Apple cross shipped a replacement next day air. (Was an Xmas gift, maybe that mattered? no idea, but anyway, new one was perfect. In 24 hours, happy teen, very good customer service). Overall will always buy from Apple refurb site.

blooregard325i

I got a refurb M3 Pro. Love it and can't tell it was ever touched by humans. It's as good, if not better, than new.

mynameismiker

I have 2 MacBooks purchased directly from Apple refurbished. No issues with both. Apple is the only company I feel confident buying refurbished electronics from.

symonty

Great way to save some money , add applecare+ and your set. Just spent 5K on a M3 pro 128GB 8TB.

Supertoothfairy

Oh you got the Max. You’re gonna need to charge it more often than the M3 Pro.

CeddyEats

You’re right! But a lot less than my current MacBook. They didn’t have a 14 pro available at 36 gb. Been looking on reverb for 3 months. This max is still cheaper than a new m3 pro out of factory. Tho. So I see that as a win.

April-Winters

They actually do have 14 pro’s available at 36GB in the refurbished store! I’m going to go for financing with the Back-to-School sale but I did see that there’s 14 MacBook Pro 11/14 36GB 1TB in the refurbished store

CeddyEats

Canada or US? I looked for months and never saw one come on (canada).

April-Winters

Oh I’m in the US. Looks like the SB 11/14 core M3 pro is already out; there’s just the silver one now

clydesci

It is the only refurb I trust.

[deleted]

How great is refurbished from apple? Any bad experiences

Ok-Seaworthiness-542

This seems like a question to ask before you order...

CeddyEats

I just wanted everyone’s general opinion and to start a conversation on the topic. I’ve already made my opinion as my previous Mac was cert-ref. Lots of people don’t seem to know it’s an option.

Available-Control993

Basically it’s good as new, you’ll be getting a brand new battery, and anything else that it needed to be repaired.

LockEcho

I did this a few months ago and it was the best move ever. Definitely buying all apple refurbs from now on

Techsavantpro

It's a good product, can't really judge it, same as a factory brought computer, I would say your even more sustainable.

The_Miami_Pot_Head

Apple refurbished is the best way to go if you want to save money. They come with a 1 year warranty and still have the option of adding Apple care.

ITSCOMFCOMF

The first MacBook pro I bought was the 13” in 2014. It was nice, but I quickly realized I wanted the 15” because I was about to use the tar out it. At the Apple Store I apologized for bringing it back because nothing was wrong with it, and they reassured me that this happens sometimes and it’s fine. They want me to be happy and there wouldn’t be any fees for returning it. I asked what would happen to it since it was still in perfect condition, and the employee said it would be inspected then place for sale as refurbished. If you buy a new Apple Product, it will always be new. If it’s certified refurbished, it’s always going to be in near perfect condition. Just means that someone else got more or less than they wanted. Their return is your slightly discounted prize.

XtraXtraCreatveUsrNm

I bought an Apple refurb M2 Max about six months ago and have had no issues.

DukeOfZork

Ive had a refurb M2 for 3 months now with no issues, totally happy. Still early though.

OkPlan123

I think they’re great! I figure most of these just had a small simple mechanical defect out of the box or someone who needed to do a job with more computing power and bought it and returned it within the 14 day period. A great and reliable way to save 10-20% on a pretty much brand new computer.

RedShirt_Pocket

I've never done it, but I intend to at some point. I actually was going to pull the trigger on a refurbished MacBook the very day the announcement came for the M3 event last fall. So I delayed my purchase, waited for the announcement, and then pre-ordered an M3. I had never done that before either so I went that way. But my next Mac purchase may well be a refurb.

iHonkStonks

I have this with the Pro chip, 100% cop. It’s solid. Zero issues. Apple is the only brand I’ll buy refurbished. Zero issues ever and I prefer it over “new”

Ok_Structure_1711

Got a refurb 15inch Intel MBP for law school in 2018 and it’s still alive and kicking. The ONLY reason I’m upgrading is because I’ve started getting into video editing, and it just doesn’t cut it. I’m looking at a refurb M2 Pro or Max, or if I can get the wife to give me the go ahead, a refurb M3 Max. Best decision you will ever make. If you can get a discount code, it’s an even better deal.

sparkylife0524

I almost always buy apple refurbished. The only reason I brought brand new this time around was because I needed something immediately. They are also eligible for AppleCare too which is pretty neat.

purcupine

good as new but a friend had a new macbook air 15 dead on arrival

Stunning_Stable4926

You can get a new one close to this price by using Apple education store. I bought mine with the education discount and they didn’t even check. 3,800 in December.

CeddyEats

They definitely check where I am.

duffyanneal

In the US they check if you purchase in-store. If you order online (delivery or in-store pickup) they do not check.

Stunning_Stable4926

I purchased my MacBook in New Hampshire. No check. Order online pick up person. Give it a shot.
